Dark Angel

Summary: Prequel to Identity. Reno and Rude have been partners for years and they’re the best there are. But when things go wrong and one of them gets killed, everything gets turned upside down and things will never be the same. Slash. Mentions of mpreg.

Notes: This was originally written for NaNoWriMo. For those of you who don’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. The challenge is to write a minimum of 50,000 words starting November 1st and ending November 30th. It’s basically writing a novel in a month. I did get this finished on time (somehow), but I decided that it needed a lot of revising and then eventually I came to the conclusion that this fit in perfectly in the universe I had created for Identity so I started reworking it. This has become one of the two novels that are set before Identity. This should have been written first, but I really had no idea when I started Identity that this was going to happen. Stupid plot bunnies. They’re totally to blame for this dilemma.

There will be a sequel to this, I’m telling you right now. The title is Reno’s Requiem. I’m actually going to be working on it for this year’s NaNoWriMo. So it will most likely need a lot of revisions before it gets posted. XD

Warnings: mentions of twincest (twins having sex), slash (male/male relationships), mentions of mpreg (male pregnancy), violence, strong language, sex, gore, and much more. Don’t read this if you are uncomfortable with any of the things mentioned above.

Prologue

Everything began at the end. In the year 4110, the earth was engulfed in a full scale nuclear war that decimated almost all life on earth. Five years later, the apocalypse came, destroying the survivors. There was nothing living left. However, all hope was not lost; humankind was aware of the impending apocalypse and scientists had been working on genetic manipulation. In the year 4100, they were successful in creating the twins Hayden and Harou artificially. They were a new breed of human with bodies capable of surviving extreme environments. The twins were males, however they carried the genetics to become pregnant and bear children. They were kept in test tubes and were educated by computer even after the entire human race had been wiped out.

After the apocalypse ended and it was safe, Hayden and Harou were born from their test tubes. They became lovers and Harou bore the first child of the new world, Bryan. The long task of rebuilding human life on earth had begun.

Hayden and Harou’s two eldest sons, Bryan and Jayden became lovers and to everyone’s surprise, Jayden bore a son. It soon became recognized that the ability of males to bear children had been passed down to some of Hayden and Harou’s children, and then their children’s offspring.

Bryan and Jayden left their parents’ house and started their own family. The rest of Hayden and Harou’s children followed suit and soon, everyone began to spread out.

As the human population grew and spread out, so did the chaos. Wars engulfed the planet, death tolls were high, starvation was everywhere, and the population of men who had inherited Hayden and Harou’s ability to have children severely dropped. It appeared life on Earth was doomed once more.

A brave man named Kyle Shinra rose up and took charge. With the help of twelve others, a Council was established to make rules and a Police Force was created to enforce those rules. Slowly, order was restored to the world. Schools were built, food and good health care were abundant, and technology became more advanced, giving the people comfortable lives.

A special place called The Institute was created for the small population of male child-bearers who were given the name ‘Bearers’ to try and raise up their numbers. The human population felt an obligation to protect the Bearers because without them, humankind would not have existed in the first place. They were bred with certain males called ‘Breeders’ who had certain qualities about them—strength, dominance, aggression, that would ensure the survival of the Bearers. Everything was Kyle Shinra’s idea.

In honor of his bravery and all his accomplishments, Kyle Shinra was named the first Chief of the Police Force. There were several divisions of the Police Force including a special division that was stationed at The Institute to ensure nothing went wrong. Occasionally, special members were selected for the top division at The Institute, personnel chosen by the Police Force Chief based on their accomplishments—intelligence, bravery, courage, or other reasons. Few were chosen because it was a highly stressful job, not to mention dangerous, but it was a high honor to be chosen for the top division.

Life went on, for the most part in peace. The only place that saw any kind of disturbance was the slums. Drugs were common, as was prostitution. The Police Force had contained the criminal activity to this one area and now worked to eliminate the crime little by little. It was a difficult and dangerous task, but it was for the peoples’ good.

To be continued…

Notes: Boy, that turned out really really lame. I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to rewrite this stupid thing for so long and I’ve never been happy with it. There was originally going to be a lot more to it, but I decided that it was getting really long and developed so I split it in half. It’s probably going to be really confusing because Chapter 1 takes place in one point in time and Chapter 2 will then take place a number of years later. Ahh, I fail at explaining. XD

Arg, I can’t stop revising. It’s starting to drive me crazy. I somehow have to tell my inner editor to just shut the hell up and keep working or else this is never going to get finished. XDD

I freaking got the dates all mixed up. I hate dates! They’re so confusing!
