A/N: I've fallen into writers block hell big time so I'm gonna do a fan fic where I haven't planned anything out and I don't have any idea where it's gonna go. All my usual pairing apply. Computer's name will be Alistair as always as well as his ability is from a conversation I had with ZS the co author of What The Soul Holds.

Aura Manipulator
A frail old man sat idly in front of a computer screen. His face was etched with furry and he tapped his finger impatiently on the chair.
Almost expectedly the computer screen went from dark to an emerald green. It then spoke with a clear male voice with a British accent. “I'm here master.”
The man sat up angrily. It looked as though his body might fall apart. Despite this he screamed. “Where have you been?”
“Doing the job you put me to, master.” The word 'master' invoked much bitterness from the machines voice.
“And? That's no excuse! You haven't contacted me in far too long! You should have had plenty of time to speak with me while watching the 'neithersoul'!”
“It slipped my mind.” The machine said in a bored tone.
“Don't lie to me! You owe me far too much for your disobedience! Who gave you life? Who gave you free will?”
The machine did not reply.
“Might I remind you I can take these things away. You may be too valuable to destroy but I can still take that free willed disobedience away.”
The machine sighed and spoke like he'd said this a thousand times. “I'm in debt to you for my life, 'master'”
“Good, good.....now is 'he' ready?”
“Well I'd say.....”
“Don't lie to me again or there will be punishments this time. Do you want me to purge you of your memories for a few days again? Separate thought from awareness again so you can't hear yourself think? I'm sure 'that' one was fun to endure.”
“Yes....yes he is indeed ready. He'll awaken very soon.”
“I thought so. You need to stop this. Your getting too attached to your targets again. It's getting you into trouble and your lucky I'm merciful.”
“Right master....”
“Now head back and soon Zeig and Aqua will arrive to deal with the neithersoul.”
Once again silence struck.
“Did you hear me?” He asked in a silky sweet voice voice.
“Y-yes master....”
Back in the attic of the Bagg farm he fumed angrily. How he hated that old fool! How dare he push him around like he's some pet! Back when he was first brought into this life he thought nothing of his job as a hunter of neithersouls. It was his purpose in life but as time when by he saw these 'targets' had their own lives and were more real then he was. He had no right to let his master do those things to them just because of the way they were born. After much punishment the thought of betraying his master was a horrifying prospect but unless he did so the little dog Courage who'd been born with a neithersoul would meet a fate far worse then death.
He'd honestly grown fond of being that dog's computer even more so then whatever he had been for his other 'prey' he'd been forced to hunt for his master. This had once been fun for him his reason for living. Slowly the cruel truth had crept over him at what his master was doing to the people he hunted. He grew to hate his work and his master...if he could save just one neithersoul.
He decided to do the impossible and betray his master for Courage. The thought was both terrifying and thrilling all at the same time. A challenge! A challenge he hadn't had in a long time. This would be fun even if he was risking his own existence.
He got to work shifting the aura around the farm. This was the whole reason he was born, for his skills with the auras hidden from the eyes. An aura manipulator as his master called it. According to him there hasn't been one in ages apart from neithersouls themselves which can be trained to be do the same but true aura manipulator's are born with the abilities. He shifted the auras within the dog's mind because he'd never come up into the attic unless otherwise. He could control the mind with the auras that resign there but according to his master it was wrong to violate another's only sanctuary. Then again this was the same person always giving him orders to manipulate a mind. Either way it was still dangerous work. One wrong twist and you could sent that person into raving madness.
He forced the dog upstairs away from his owners. He forced him to push the attic door open. He walked in hazy eyed and looking a bit like a zombie. An unfortunate side effect while in control which made the power useless in most situations.
He let the aura go as Courage walked up to the computer. He blinked dazed but normal again. He looked around confused then glanced up at the computer.
“Alright twit we need to talk.” He spoke hurriedly. They'd be here soon enough. Aquarella probably already was. She very likely sensed his intent and she was mostly likely just waiting to see what will happen next.
“Something very bad is about to happen. You need to round up your owners and get them into the truck outside. I don't care if you have to tie them up just get them in there!”
Courage blinked clearly not aware of the urgency.
“Look dog! Have you ever had a reason not to trust me? The people who are coming, if they catch you you'll wish you were dead! They will do terrible things to Muriel just to hurt you too.”
Courage didn't need to be told twice. His neithersoul was finally sensing the aura and the terrible urgency upon him. He spun on the spot and ran.
“Wait!” Computer cried out but when Courage turned the computer that had been in the attic for as long as he could remember was gone. He suddenly felt something powerful enter his mind and he heard the machine's voice quite clearly. “Don't just sit there idiot! Run!”
“Y-your in m-my mind!” Courage stuttered. He could not comprehend how this happened. Computer had broken yet another rule of placing his own mind in Courage's. If he didn't give some answer to the dog it would very likely drive him mad.
“I simply manipulated the aura to....no...there's no time to explain! I'll tell you everything later! I've been watching over you for a reason twit....your not going to like it but its the truth.” He tried to manipulate the aura to sooth Courage but among all the panic it was a hopeless effort.
All the years of seeing the supernatural did the dog good. He took a deep breath and accepted the fact that his computer was now in his head. “Alright I trust you.” He said.
“Good! Now move!”
And Courage did just that. Computer didn't even want to think about what would happen next or all the explaining he would have to do. Nor did he want to think about what would happen if his master caught him again.
Only one thing was certain. Courage's life would never be the same now that his unusual soul would soon awaken.
