Summary: This is my take on how X5-494 Alec found out he was Max's breeding partner.

Author's Note: I often wondered how Alec did find out about being Max's breeding partner and why Max wasn't told at the same time. I mean didn't Renfro know she would 'freak out' using Alec's term. I'm not surprised she reacted the way she did. Just so everyone knows Alec is X5-494

Pairing: Just Alec kind of a Max/Alec if you stretch it.

Part I

"State your designation, " Renfro said as X5-494 came to attention in front of her.

"X5-494 ma'am, " X5-494 said with his eyes forward.

"At ease 494, " she said as she came to stand in front of him.

He stood at ease and waited to be instructed.

Renfro folded her arms in front of her and looked at 494 close. "We have a situation 494. Ever since the rogue X5-452 destroyed our embryonic facility we have had to start from square one. Which means that for now things have to be done the old fashion way, " she said bluntly.

"What is my mission ma'am?" he asked.

"You are to be paired with X5-452 and copulate with her every night until she becomes pregnant. Is that quit understood?" she ordered.

"Yes ma'am!" he said with a loud tone.

"You are to report to X5-452's cell after lights out and initiate her. She is not to know any thing until then. Are we clear on this 494?" she said.

"Understood ma'am, " he said.

"You will have one hour to fulfill your mission and leave to return to your own cell. In the morning you and X5-452 are to report to me, " she said.

"Yes ma'am, " he said.

"Dismissed 494, " Renfro said.

X5-494 turned and left her office. Once outside he let his distress show. 'Great' he thought. He walked down the hallway to his barracks and thought about his situation. He had heard stories about X5-452. She was a walking mouth with attitude. She didn't blend with authority to well. In fact he had heard she despised it. That meant trouble for him and he didn't want trouble. He had it made here. Three square meals a day clothes on his back. He knew this X5 would be trouble.

Knowing his luck she was ugly as hell too. She did live on the outside for the latter part of her life. There is no telling what it did to her. There was telling what she caught while she was out there. He comforted himself by thinking that the medical staff at Manticore would have found something by now if she were diseased.

'I guess I'll found out all about her tonight, ' he thought to himself as he entered his barracks. He sat on his bunk and waited.
