Destiny
It all happened. It all happened back there. It all happened when me and my brother were playing in the stream and then they came. The humans. They tried to kill us and they used their monsters against us. Big red and black devil dogs. Houndooms. We fought as best as we could. My mother, being a Glaceon, had no choice but to fire ice at our opponents. They were merciless. When she tried to protect us with ice, they just shot flame after flame at her until she was no more than a pile of ash. Tears fell from my eyes and my brother ran over to comfort me. He screeched in pain as one of the monsters flamed him. Dad ran over to him and I ran around trying to help my dad and my brother but dad, helpless as he was against houndooms, pushed me out into the river. My journey began from there.
I woke up to the furious barking of the houndooms. A small blue and black creature I recognised as a riolu was valiantly fighting off the Houndooms. It looked exhausted and I knew that if I didn’t help, the houndooms would win. Anger blazed inside me and I rushed forwards and barrelled straight into the legs of an unwary Houndoom. It let out a yelp of surprise and collapsed onto the ground, legs no longer supporting it. I charged up a ball of black energy in my mouth, the technique I recognised as shadow ball, and spat it at the nearest Houndoom. It was thrown back into a tree and fainted.
“Grrr. They’re useless anyway, let’s just get out of here.” One of the humans said. His partner nodded in agreement and they recalled their monsters and bolted.
“Thank you.” I turned in surprise to the riolu.
“You can use telepathy?” I asked.
“Yep. All riolu and their evolved form, Lucario, can use aura and telepathy. Many call us the aura pokemon.” He informed me.
Then I asked him the question that was troubling me. “Why did they attack you?”
“I don’t know. They killed my friends. What about you? Where are your family and friends?” He asked. Tears flooded my eyes and I looked down. “Oh. I guess they did it to you too……”
“Oh well. What are you going to do now? I don’t really know what I am going to do.” I said.
“Hmmmm. I know. Would you like to travel together? I think it will be safer, and besides, I can teach you some new techniques.” The riolu said, his eyes shining. I nodded thoughtfully. “By the way, eevee, what’s your name?”
I looked down and said, “I don’t have one. My parents never named me.”
“Oh. How about you name yourself?”
I looked up at him, “Okay. But I’m going to name myself after I evolve.”
“Alright. You can call me……..Demon.” he said softly. I cocked my head at him and raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. “Let’s go, shall we?”
“Okay. But where?” I asked.
“Well, I think I know who those humans are.”
Before he could continue, I said, “Really? Who? What? Where?”
Demon rolled his eyes. “I was getting to that. Well, I think, from their aura, that they come from an organisation called Team Rocket. Team Rocket steals pokemon, tries to take over the world and blah blah blah.”
“But then why would they do this?”
“They hurt pokemon and sometimes they even kill them.” He told me. Suddenly fire blazed in his eyes. “They must pay for what they did. We never did anything to them and they tried to kill us. THEY must pay. Eevee. Do you want revenge? Or do you want to be the same, old eevee who humans can hurt or even kill?” He said softly.
“But I am no match for them. They will kill me. I won’t survive. I am just an ordinary eevee.” I sniffled bitterly.
“Maybe you are, but you can become strong. You can and you will become strong. Follow me, and help me.” His eyes glowed a soft yellow in the dark shadows of the forest. “I came here to become stronger than anybody else. Help me, and you can achieve that goal as well.”
His yellow eyes stared into mine. I nodded briefly. “Okay. But what do we do now?”
“Come. I will introduce you to my other friends.” I looked at him and nodded. A bright white light swallowed us up and we vanished from the dark depths of the forest.
Demon replied, “We are in one of my friends homes.” At that, an orange-brown monkey-like creature appeared at the entrance of the cave.
“Demon, did you call me?” He asked.
“Yes Blaze.” Demon turned to me. “This is Blaze. He is a Monferno, the evolution of Chimchar.” Blaze waved at me from the mouth of the cave and I waved back. “Blaze, could you please help this eevee settle in.” Blaze nodded and motioned for me to follow him. I turned to Demon for the last time and he whispered to me.
“Remember, those who show mercy are the ones who lose.” I would keep that in mind for many years to come.
“Here we go.” Blaze said, finally turning into a smaller cave. “You can live here. Some others may need to share this cave with you. You can go have some rest now.”
Before he could continue, Demon appeared at the doorway with a few strange circular devices in his hand. He placed them on the table and motioned for me to come. I obeyed and he picked up one of the objects and placed a paw on my forehead. I felt a weird tingly feeling before he took his paw off my forehead and picked up another one and repeated the process.
“What was that?” I asked anxiously.
Demon chuckled. “These objects?” I nodded. “They are called TMs. They transfer certain abilities to target. In your case, I transferred Iron Tail and Swift to you. Okay. Enough talk now. You better get some rest as TMs have some side effects. If you sleep, it will reduce the likelihood of these effects. Blaze can help you practice them after you wake up.” He said firmly, just before I started protesting.
“But I can’t sleep….” I complained. Blaze chuckled and his eyes glowed. I suddenly felt drowsy and the heavy urge to sleep. The next instant I was asleep.
“Fine.” I grumbled. “Is there anything to eat, I’m hungry.”
“Whoa. Whoa. Hold it there Mr. Grumbleguts. If you want food, there is some over there on the table.” I looked at the place he was pointing to and trudged over to the table of berries and meat. I ate ravenously, as I hadn’t had anything to eat since my sleep yesterday and after all those activities, I was bound to be hungry. And boy, was I hungry. The meat was delicious since I rarely had meat with my family. My brother didn’t like meat and his priorities were often higher than mine. “Hey, done yet? When you are done, meet me outside.” Blaze turned and walked out of the cave. I stared after him but immediately started eating berries again.
“Ah. There you are. I think we should start with learning swift first, as long range attacks are often very useful in battle.” My excitement started to build up and I grinned. Time to start my training.
