Morgan is walking through the doors of Sacred Heart with an older gentlemen following behind her. He’s dressed very businesslike with a blue suit and glasses.
When you become a doctor you can start to feel like you have to treat everyone. Take my granddad for instance, he’s had a cough for a couple of days and I want to get him checked out. Unfortunately…
“You’re not giving me an exam.” The man’s voice is distinctly British. “I don’t want this to be awkward.”
“You took me bra shopping and gave me “the talk”. How much more awkward can we get?”
“Guess it’s only fair. I’ve seen your lovlies, you can see mine I guess.”
The man has been raising me since I was eight years old. He didn’t exactly agree with the way my parents had gone about doing it. You know… normally?
“I’ll ask one of the other interns to do it.” Morgan hurries into the elevator with him close behind her.
“Did I ever tell you that yours remind me of your grandmother’s?”
Morgan slaps herself in the face as the door opens. She spots Eddie by the nurse’s station as he looks over a chart. “Eddie!” She drags her grandfather over to him. “Can you do me a favor?”
“I’d love to if I could find five minutes. I pissed Cox off again this morning so he’s got me taking of Mr. Corman, the world’s biggest hypochondriac.” He flips his chart closed. “He thinks he has this disease that… honestly… I think you can only get if you have sex with an Amazonian monkey.”
“Oooooh crap. That’s gotta be what I got.”
Morgan and Eddie both look at her grandfather with dropped jaws. “What?”
“I was kidding!”
Morgan looks around the room at the other interns. “There’s not another intern in this room I trust to look at him.”
“Ah Mouse, you’re here awful early.”
Morgan freezes up and her eyes go wide before she turns around. This doesn’t go unnoticed by her grandfather. “I uh… Dr. Cox, I know- Listen, could you- Mmmm… My Granddad needs to be… examined and could you- could you-“
“I’m sorry about that.” Morgan’s grandfather steps in between the two. “I’m Morgan’s grandfather. Haven’t been feelin’ well that past few days, she’s worrying about me and I need an exam. I’d rather not have her do it ‘cause y’know the whole blood relative with their hands all over you thing. It can get kinda creepy.”
“So Mouse do you want me to look after Grandpa?”
“Bloody hell, I’m not old enough for YOU to be callin’ me Grandpa.” He holds out his hand. “Call me David.”
“Right. Listen Red, I’ll take care of him, but, you owe me… HUGE.”
“I won’t talk to you for a week.” Morgan squeaks.
Dr. Cox stands there rolling his head back and forth thinking about what she just said. “Fine. That’s good enough for me.” He starts walking away. “Mr. Liddell if you’ll just follow me.”
“Be with you in a tick.” David pauses and leans into Morgan’s ear singing. “Yooooouuuu fancy hiiiim.”
“Please don’t tell him.”
“I won’t. He’s too old for you.” He follows Dr. Cox making a zipping motion across his lips.
And while I was having an anxiety attack about my grandfather knowing about my crush, Adam was about to have one himself.
Adam is in surgery with Turk. A man is on the table with his chest cut open.
Turk looks over at Adam. “Listen man, I know this is your first Open Heart Surgery but I just want you to know that I’m here for you. You’re my boy and you can do this alright?”
Adam just nods.
“Now there’s nothing to be nervous about. Got it?”
“Got it Dr. Turk.”
“Now then I want you to take the artery and graft-“
“Dr. Turk?” They look over into the observation room where Shirley is standing. “It’s Carla.”
“She went into labor?”
“She was in a car accident and went into labor. They took her to County because it was closer. Dr. Wen is sending down another attending.”
Turk just nods. “Thanks.” He looks at Adam. “I don’t mean to bail on you man.”
“You’re not bailing, your wife needs you.”
“T-Dogg!” Todd appears in the observation room. “Got your back!” He slaps the glass.
“You gonna be okay with Todd?”
“I thought he was a plastic surgeon.”
“He started out doing the same surgeries as everyone else. Dr. Wen wouldn’t have sent him down here if he thought it’d be harmful to the patient.”
Todd slides up next to Turk and looks down at the patient. “You started cuttin’ him up without me? Dude, so not cool.”
Adam gulps.
[Talk to the doctor
He said you're well for home
Take all your medicine
Be sure you're never alone
You'll know it's over
For the rest of your life
You're gonna be high...
Come home
It's something less than a holiday
When you…]
Morgan is sitting in the floor outside the exam room. She has her back against the door leaning her head back.
It’s not that I’m paranoid or anything, it’s just my Granddad is all I’ve got basically. So I was just sitting outside the door to make sure he didn’t try to hide anything serious from me.
Inside the room David is unbuttoning his blazer as he looks at the door. “She’s outside. Do us a favor?”
Dr. Cox opens the door causing Morgan to fall. “What are you doing?” She just shrugs. “Are you actually going to nawt talk to me for a whole week?” She shakes her head with a shy smile on her face. “Okay, you know how the whole patient-doctor confidentiality thing works right?” She nods again. “Well, it can’t be CONFIDENTIAL if you’re sitting right outside the door listening oh so intently. So why don’t you go be a good Mouse and go get me a cup of coffee. Tall, and fill it up with so much sugar the coffee itself gets diabetes.” He slams the door and turns back around.
“If you don’t mind me saying, I’m not sure I like the way you’re treating my granddaughter.”
“You wanted her to leave right?”
David begins unbuttoning his shirt and pulls it off revealing a white tank top underneath. “You could’ve done it in a little nicer way.”
“Not my style.”
“What’s with the nickname?”
“I don’t know if you noticed earlier but the only way she seems to be able to communicate with me is by squeaking.”
David shrugs as he sits up on the exam table. “I think it’s quite obvious why she does that.”
“I know exactly why she does it. She’s terrified of me, I’ve seen it before in a lot of interns.”
“Or maybe not so obvious.”
Dr. Cox picks up a chart. “So what brings you in?”
“Bronchitis.”
“Uh huh…”
“Coughing, dyspnea, some chest pains, and some malaise. That’s about it.”
Dr. Cox leans up against a counter with his arms crossed. “Now who’s the doctor here?”
“I stayed up many a night with Morgan helping her study. If I could scrape the money together I’d put meself through college and med school and pass with flying colors.”
“Fair enough.” Dr. Cox goes back to the chart and writes down the symptoms. “What brings you across the pond?” He takes his stethoscope off from around his shoulders.
David just chuckles. “Morgan’s grandmother.” He raises his eyebrows and growls.
In surgery Adam has sweat on his forehead as Todd takes Turk’s place.
“Alright A-man you got the artery grafted on yet?”
“Almost done.”
“Take your time, don’t rush it.”
Adam looks up at him with wide eyes as if waiting for something. “Well?”
“What?”
“Aren’t you gonna say, ‘not like you did last night’ or something?”
Todd looks confused. “No.”
“Uh… right.”
In another room of the hospital Eddie is looking over Mr. Corman’s chart. “Mr. Corman you do not have Lábrea fever.”
“I’ve got several of the symptoms.”
“You were complaining of a headache, fever, agitation and a lack of appetite. At the most I think you might have a slight case of the flu. A very normal disease.”
Mr. Corman just smiles from his bed. “I’d like to wait for my test results if you don’t mind.”
Eddie pulls up a chair and plops down with a sigh. “So you in here a lot?”
“Use to. I started going to County after a little incident with a surgeon’s wife. I heard she was gone so I decided it was safe to come back.” There’s an awkward silence for a few minutes. “So Vela… That’s uh Mexican?”
“Yeah. My dad’s Mexican, my mom’s half white half Puerto Rican. It’s like a little salsa gene pool.”
“Interesting.”
At that moment Eddie’s pager goes off and he picks it up. “Oh God. Do it yourself.” He acts like he’s ready to through the device against the wall.
“What’s up?”
“One of the other intern’s asking me to do their work for them. It’s bad enough I’ve got yo-“ He stops and cringes realizing that he was about to complain about Mr. Corman right in front of his face.
“Go ahead. I get it a lot. I’m used to it.”
Eddie takes a deep breath. “It’s bad enough I’ve you as my only patient today.”
“I tend to be a bit of a handful.”
He scrubs a hand over his face. “So I’ve noticed.”
“So you’re an intern right?”
“Yeah.”
“What are you like Dr. Cox’s little protégé?”
Eddie sits straight up in the chair and slowly turns his head towards Mr. Corman. “What makes you say that?”
“Your personality seems similar.”
Eddie stands up from his chair, fists clench. “Don’t ever compare me to that JACKASS. I hate Dr. Cox, I hate the way he talks, the way he walks, I even hate those annoying little curls on the top of his head and the way he elongates words when it is re-he-heal-ly NAWT necessary.”
“The nose touch is what gets to me.”
“Yeah, it’s like his pissed off button.”
“What about the ranting?”
“Oh the rants.” Eddie stands with his feet apart and puts his hands on his head. “Let me tell you something there Speedy, you’re an intern and you’re obviously je-hust getting started in the field of medicine. Ssooooo every time ya make one little slip up I’m just gonna go right ahead and blab away at you for twenty minutes because I obviously love to hear the sound of my own voice. Now once I’m done degrading you I’d like the tox screen for the patient and bed five am I going slow enough for you Esé?” He starts laughing with Mr. Corman as he turns towards the door where Morgan is standing. “Oh no.”
Morgan has a cup of coffee in her hand. “Yeah, you know what? Everyone teaches in their own way.” She walks into the room and pokes Eddie in the chest. “And just because you’ve got the same alpha male complex that he does, doesn’t mean you can just go around bad-mouthing him every chance you get.”
“You well YOU know what Morgan? I know the only reason you’re coming to his defense is because you’ve got a crush on him.”
Morgan nearly drops the coffee. “What?”
“It’s obvious, really obvious.”
“I gotta go.” With that she speeds off.
Back inside the exam room Dr. Cox has his stethoscope to David’s chest listening intently.
David looks extremely uncomfortable. “Listen Dr. Cox I-“
“I’ve asked you to be quiet twice already, do I re-heally need to ask a third time?” He continues to listen for a few more seconds before pulling away.
As soon as he turns around David starts a huge coughing fit covering his mouth. He looks at his hand with concern before wiping it on his pants. “Hear anything unusual?”
“I’d like to take a chest X-Ray.”
“I don’t think that’s necessary.”
Dr. Cox turns around and crosses his arm. “You wanna tell me what the real story is?”
“Not really no.”
“You’re obviously a smart man, you know something is wrong and you’re obviously scared to admit it. Now I’ll be getting test results back from an intern here shortly, what do you think that’ll tell me?”
“Dunno. What do you-“ He’s interrupted by a long coughing fit. He covers his mouth and keeps it covered noticing Dr. Cox is looking. “What?”
“Is coughing up blood a sign of a bronchitis?”
David sighs as he puts his dress shirt back on. “I got diagnosed with lung cancer about six months ago. They said without treatment it’d be three to five years. Happy?”
“Any particular reason you failed to mention this to your granddaughter who I assume worships the very ground you walk on? Hell the girl looked freaked out earlier when she thought you just had bronchitis.”
David puts his jacket on and crosses his arms. “We worked so hard for her to get to this point. She’s got enough to worry about, she’s starting at a new job, she’s still got student loans to pay off- I don’t want her worrying about whether or not I’m going to keel over and die on her.”
“You obviously know that there are options out there. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy-“
“I’d rather not pump my body full of poison thank you very much.” David goes to open the door. “And it kinda defeats the whole purpose of keeping this a secret.”
“Why?”
“Morgan’s wanted to be a doctor since she was a little girl. I know that if she finds out something’s wrong with me, she’d quit this place without a second thought to take care of me.” David pauses and takes a deep breath. “And I can’t live with that. Sacrificing my health for her happiness seems like a pretty even trade to me. I’m sure I can at least make it until she’s Chief Resident.”
A knock at the door breaks the mood of the room. “Dr. Cox! I got your coffee!”
“You obviously can’t tell her.” David looks at the door and then at Dr. Cox. “Doctor-Patient Confidentiality and all that.”
“That’s right.”
He opens the door with a smile “MAL is there a canteen in this place? I’m bloody starving.”
“Lil less Limey Grandad.” Morgan nervously looks at Dr. Cox. “Is he alright?”
He just looks at David. “Well, Mr. Liddell?”
“I’m fine love, just like I told you. Simple case of bronchitis. It’d do you good to listen to me once in a while.” He puts his arm around her shoulder. “See ya later Mate!” He nods to Dr. Cox and walks down the hallway with her.
Dr. Cox stands there and puts his hands on the top of his head as he watches him walk away.
Jordan comes up behind him. “Do you realize you look really stupid when you do that?” He just rolls his eyes. “I got us reservations to that new restaurant that opened two weeks ago.”
“Pierre François?”
“That’s the one.”
Dr. Cox starts walking down to the Nurse’s Station. “Who’d you have to sleep with to get those?”
“The Head Chef.”
“I hope you got a free desert coupon too.” He picks up a chart and flips through it. “No doubt the price of one meal there would buy Jack a completely new bedroom set.”
“Oh wah.”
“Jordan the boy is seven years old. It’s time to get rid of the baby elephants and giraffes.”
“True. I was thinking of a Nautical Theme.”
“Ah back to the gay sailor days.”
Jordan follows Dr. Cox to a patient’s room. “Like you’d do anything to help decorate.”
“Get him a baseball room, a jungle room- Hell I can live with him having a mural of Luke versus Darth Vader on the wall-“
“Okay, what the hell is up with you?”
Perry goes up to the patient in the bed. “How long have we known each other?”
“Oh please. I’m pretty good at seeing what a wuss you are underneath that hard alpha male shell. Plus I can tell by the tone of your voice you’re dying to get rid of me so you can be alone.”
“If you must know I dealt with a patient earlier that is basically dying and keeping it a secret from quite possibly the most important person in his life.”
Jordan contemplates what he just said. “You are SUCH a PANSY!” She leaves the room. “I’ll be back at eight o’clock with your suit.”
Meanwhile Eddie is standing outside the locked lab. He’s leaning against the door arms crossed and lightly banging his head against the wall. “Where the hell is the lab tech?”
Elliot comes up to the lab carrying a bunch of charts, she doesn’t seem to notice Eddie. “Frick! I told that stupid lab tech I wanted the test results by noon!” She jiggles the hand on the door trying to balance the charts in one hand. She ends up dropping them all over the floor. “Double Frick!”
Eddie leans down to help her pick them up. “Here let me help you.”
Elliot stands up. “Thank you so-” She gets a good look at him and pauses. “Much.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Sooo… How long have you been waiting?”
“About twenty minutes.”
“What is with this stupid lab tech? He is ALWAYS late with the results.”
“Yeah, I’ve only been here a few weeks and I figured that out already.”
“I’m Elliot. Oh I’m sorry that’s unprofessional.” She laughs nervously. “Dr. Reid, I’m one of the private practice doctors here.”
“I’m Dr. Vela… or Eddie.”
Elliot reaches out to shake his hand and ends up dropping the charts again. “Oh jeeze.”
“I could help you carry these to your office.” Eddie picks up a few of the charts.
“Oh- uh- thank you so much.” They start walking towards the elevators as they get inside she looks at him. “Do you like apples?”
“Yeah why?”
Elliot gets a big grin on her face and clenches her fist whispering, “YES!” as the doors close.
In the cafeteria Adam sits down at a table by himself. A few minutes later he’s joined by Morgan and her grandfather. “Hey.”
“Who’s your friend?”
“Oh this is Adam. Adam this is my Granddad.”
“Pleasure Adam.” David reaches his hand across the table. “You can call me David or Granddad. Either one works.”
“I didn’t know your family was from England.”
“I’m a second generation Liddell born on American soil.”
“She’s about as British as you are.”
Adam continues eating in silence.
Morgan notices this. “Dude, what’s wrong?”
“Dr. Turk had to leave surgery this morning, his wife went into labor. The Todd filled in for him.”
“Oh.”
“He was…” Adam blinks a few times. “Professional.”
David seems confused. “What’s the guy normally like?” Adam points behind him.
The Todd is standing at a table watching as a woman in a low cut top starts bottle feeding her baby. “Hey! Got milk?” The woman stops bottle feeding and slaps him.
Adam shrugs. “And that’s him being VERY tame.”
Janitor sits down at the table with a soda. “Hi Morgan.”
“Janitor.”
“That he is.” David takes a bite of the sandwich on his plate.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I thought she was just pointing out the obvious. You are a janitor right?”
The Janitor slams his can down on the table. “Yeah so?”
“Didn’t mean anything by it. I was a janitor once.”
“Really?” Janitor asks suspiciously.
“Yeah, Royal Albert Hall. Granted that was a LONG time ago. I had to once clean up after the Queen had a little too much to drink. That woman sure loved her gin.”
Janitor looks at Morgan. “Who are you?”
“I’m her grandfather.” David puts his arm around Morgan. “David.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever had to introduce this many times in one day before.”
“That’d be because you never had friends before?”
“So you’re a retired janitor?”
“No. My wife talked me into taking a job as a sheet metal worker. I quite enjoyed it but you didn’t the option to socialize with different people. Hell, I thought about taking up a job as a janitor again for a part time job. It’s something to do.”
“Yeah I mean there are perks to this job. It’s easy, gives you time to think. Not to mention the smell of urinal cakes.”
“Lemony fresh?”
“Pine.”
“Ooooo.”
Todd walks up to the table. “A-Dawg! You were awesome in surgery! Good job five!” He raises his hand for a high five.
Adam gives him a high five and as Todd walks away he starts tearing up. “Oooowww!” His pager goes off. “I gotta go. Nice to meet you David.”
“Ta.” David waits until he’s out of ear shot and elbows Morgan. “Why aren’t you all googley-eyed over him?”
I knew he was going to bring it up. You see my Granddad has to play a lot of parts in my life. Matchmaker is obviously one his favorites.
“We’re just friends.” She says in a hushed voice.
“At least he is in your age group.” He comes back in the same quiet tone. “I do not like the fact that you’re in love with a man I could be the father of.”
“I am not IN LOVE with him. I have A CRUSH ON HIM!”
“Still he’s too old for you.”
Janitor has been watching the entire whispered conversation. “Umm… Can I get in on this conversation?”
David looks at him. “Fine. She fancies this older doctor that works here and-“
“NO!” Morgan clasps a hand over his mouth. “I think there are already too many people that know about it.”
“It’s Dr. Cox isn’t it?”
Her hand falls from David’s mouth and her shoulders slump. “I think I’ll just go and hide in the closet for the rest the day.” She gets up from the table. “Excuse me.”
Back in Mr. Corman’s room Eddie is watching some trivia show with him. “It’s Marilyn Monroe.”
“Okay, you got another right.” Mr. Corman throws a Skittle up onto his bed tray. “The next category is astrology.”
“Man you’re lucky we ain’t bettin’ money. You’d be broke by this point. I’m tellin’ you, my family are game show FANATICS.” Eddie jiggles a full bag of MNM’s as he pops the Skittle into his mouth. “PLUTO! It’s not… Dude! Who says Neptune? You MORON!”
“OH! You don’t pay attention to the news do ya?” Mr. Corman opens his hand. “Make sure it’s not a brown one.”
“That’s a load of crap!” Eddie slaps a red candy down into his hand. “What did Pluto do to deserve gettin’ its status as a planet taken away? It’s like takin’ away an immigrant’s green card!”
“If it makes you feel better I got five Skittles left and they’re those apple ones they came out with a few years ago.”
Eddie puts a hand to his mouth. “Where did you get this bag?”
“Outta the vending machine on the way in.”
“The one next to the gift shop behind the palm trees?”
“Yeah.”
Eddie puts a hand to his stomach. “We all thought it was broken. It hasn’t been used in YEARS.” He slowly gets up. “I think just the thought of eatin’ like six year old candy is making me nauseous.” He runs out of the room.
Mr. Corman looks at the bag of Skittles and shrugs before pouring the contents into his mouth.
Morgan walks past the room and into a nearby storage closet. Once inside she sits in the corner and rests her head on her knees.
The door opens and there’s shuffling as someone is looking for something. Morgan looks up and sees Elliot getting some gauze. She looks down at her. “Hiding in the supply closet? Been there, done that.”
I didn’t talk to Dr. Reid much. I’d heard Dr. Cox refer to her as Barbie a few times which made me think she was some air head. Also he mentioned something about private practice doctors being complete sellouts that would rather have a fat bank account than do any actual good in this world.
Elliot opens the door and looks back at her. “Don’t let whatever got you upset get to you. One day you’ll look back at this and laugh. I know I do. Actually when I’d hide in here I’d eat sugar packets and cry over the littlest things. Like this one time Dr. Cox yelled at me for paging him because I wanted his opinion on how to deal with a lupus patient. God, I think I was in here for like an hour and everyone just kept paging me and paging me which only made me cry harder because I thought, ‘why can’t anyone just leave me alone for ten minutes so I can get the sad out?’. It just reminded me how I’d call my mother and instead of actually helping me through my problems would try to get me to tell her how much I weigh and then she’d start pushing the diet pills on me not realizing they kill people-“ She stops and notices Morgan just staring at with a wide eyes trying to process what she just said.
Elliot takes a deep breath. “After a while I became less overwhelmed with my problems and after a while I realized the best way to deal with a problem is to confront it.” She walks out of the room and looks back in. “Hope I helped.” She goes to shut the door but a hand stops her.
David appears in the doorway. “I always figured you were in the closet.”
“Not funny.”
“You know I want you to do whatever makes you happy right?”
“Yeah.”
“Ask the bloke out.”
“Which one?”
“I think you know which one.” David smiles at her. “I’ll be at home.”
“Mr. Hurricane” by Beast starts playing in the background.
Back in Mr. Corman’s room Dr. Cox comes in with a chart. “I have your test results and surprise surprise… you’re NOT sick!”
I thought I was a victim
That people hated me
I never had a homeland
I had no safety
Eddie walks into the room to watch Dr. Cox rant at Mr. Corman. “Why do you even waste my time?”
Adam is walking down the hallway and sees the Todd walking towards him with an evil grin on his face
One day I saw a beast comin'
From across the sea
I never knew fear
Until he came for me
Eddie continues to watch Dr. Cox rant at Mr. Corman who says, “You know Dr. Cox-“
“No. No I don’t know.”
Can you imagine livin' one more day
With a beast right up in your face
David is at home having a coughing fit while he looks at picture of himself, Morgan and another woman (more than likely her grandmother).
Can see me dyin' in this house, in any house
For a man in vain
Blinded by the Hurricane
Todd taps Adam on the shoulder. “Come on, I want you to help with this surgery.”
“What kind of surgery?”
(Broke out of the harness)
Let it go let it go
Inside the scrub up room Todd’s already got his gown on. “Little girl got into a car accident a few months ago, her face got pretty mangled. She told her mom she just wanted to look like a normal girl again.”
(Crumbled in the darkness)
Turn on the light ya'll
(Overcame the madness)
Then take your pills
(Finally righteous)
I love the beast ya'll
In Mr. Corman’s room Eddie finally speaks up. “Dude, stop it!”
“Excuse me?” Dr. Cox turns around and gets up in his face.
“You heard me. Mr. Corman’s a nice guy. If you people weren’t so eager to just stick him and kick him you could actually help him with his real problem.”
“Oh did you make friend’s with everyone’s “favorite” patient?”
“Yeah so? Get off your high horse there padre. You wanted me to deal Mr. Corman I’LL deal with him. Got it?”
(Broke out of the harness)
Let it go let it go
(Stumbled in the darkness)
Turn on the light ya'll
(Overcame the madness)
Then take your pills
(Finally righteous)
I love the beast ya'll
With that Dr. Cox growls at him and leaves the room.
An instrumental version of the song continues.
Morgan gets up out of the closet and straightens her scrubs out.
Adam and Todd have just finished up surgery. “Piece of cake huh A-Dawg?”
“Yeah, you know I hate to say it like this but I always thought of you as some jockey frat guy who liked to deal with boobs all day.”
“I guess I am. Sure you can put a pair of blouse bunnies on a chick and make her feel better about herself but stuff like this helps the Todd get his sense of purpose on.”
Back in Mr. Corman’s room, he’s getting ready to be discharged. “I’m glad you stood up to him for me. You’re a good kid.”
Eddie pats him on the shoulder. “You obviously know you’re a hypochondriac. Why don’t you get some help for it?” He slips him a piece of paper. “It’s the name and number for this psychiatrist my brother goes to. He helped him through a lot of stress related issues I think he can help you.”
“Thanks. I maybe be back a few more times thought.”
“I’ll be here Mr. Corman.” Eddie shakes his hand.
Morgan is walking down the hallway towards Dr. Cox. “Okay Morgan, you can do this. Ask him out for a drink… Even though you don’t drink. There’s never a better time to start!” She sees Jordan walk up to Dr. Cox. “Hey there’s that Jordan lady. I wonder if she’s gonna talk to him for me.”
The lyrics kick back in
Jordan looks over and sees Morgan before wrapping her arms around Dr. Cox’s neck and planting a huge, steamy kiss on his lips.
Time slows down as Morgan watches the two seemingly, lovingly interact. She turns around and starts to walk away as time speeds back up.
So I stay a while
Knife in my side
While I slowly died
Defeat from the inside
Now I scream 'til the end of the day
Never again, Mr. Hurricane
Dr. Cox breaks the kiss. “What the hell was that about?”
“Oh nothing.”
“Something’s up. You’re not that big on PDA unless you’re trying to piss someone off. Is it me?”
“Don’t worry about. Come on!” She pushes him down the hallway.
(Broke out of the harness)
Let it go let it go
(Stumbled in the darkness)
Turn on the light ya'll
(Overcame the madness)
Then take your pills
(Finally righteous)
I love the beast ya'll
In the Doctor’s lounge The Todd is playing Ms. Pacman while Adam watches over his shoulder. “Oh yes, eat those dots you dirty dirty girl.” His pager goes off and he looks at it. “Sweet Turk had a boy!”
Adam thinks about it for a second before raising his hand. “Hopefully Nursing Five?”
Todd looks at and cocks him head to one side. “Hell yeah!” He leans back and puts his entire body into slapping his hand before snapping his fingers. “Not bad for a first one.”
Don't mess with the Beast Mr. Hurricane
You're not coming for peace stop bringing the insane
Don't mess with the Beast Mr. Hurricane
You're not coming for peace stop bringing the insane
Don't mess with the Beast Mr. Hurricane
You're not coming for peace stop bringing the insane
Don't mess with the Beast Mr. Hurricane
You're not coming for peace stop bringing the insane
As the song fades out we cut to Morgan sitting alone in the closet as the door opens up.
“Mouse?”
She looks up at him with tears in her eyes. “Yeah?”
Dr. Cox is standing in the doorway in a suit. “You okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Alright then.” He slams the door on her.
Jordan walks up behind him dressed in a slinky dress. “Where’ve you been?”
“Had to check on something.”
