Chapter one: Promise under the sky

"San...." Ashitaka murmured in his dream as he tossed and turned in his bed. It was 6 months after the death of the Forest God Shishigami, and when he parted ways with San, yet he misses her everday. Ashitaka awoke in the middle of his dream of San and sat up in his bed whispering "I'll come back to you San, I promise." The next day, Ashitaka went out to help the villagers in Iron Town remake their buildings after the damage that was done by the monster everyone referred to as the "Nightwalker", suddenly he heard the howl of a wolf and he instantly turned his head towards the forest. "San.....what's going on?" he said to himself. Toki noticed his movements and asked "Ashitaka, what's wrong?" Ashitaka quickly shook his head and said "no, it's nothing but my imagination." He continued to work on the building but his mind was thinking about San. Later that day, he rode Yakul into the forest and into the den where San and her mother Moro had allowed him to stay on that fateful night when he was suffering from a bullet wound and the curse of the demon. Ashitaka looked down at his right hand and the scar which had been removed after the death of the Forest God. Yakul snorted at a noise, Ashitaka looked around but it turned out to be the Kodamas who live in the trees. Urging Yakul forward, Ashitaka continued towards the den where San lived.
