Hey, sorry for the hiatus. I packed my computer up until exams were over- (all A's and a B in Chemistry) Now they are, and I can start this up again. This is just a beta/preview to let you know I'm still alive. I've slowly lost interest because I haven't typed this in a while- but I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things soon.

Any advice/comments for this skeleton-draft is allowed and encouraged. You, the reader, get to help write this (next) chapter! I think it'll be fun.

Rose shuffled into the main room of the TARDIS, the Doctor was already awake, sitting in his cracked chair. He turned his head as she tapped his shoulder, returning her sleepy grin.

“What are you doing? What happened with Light?”

The Doctor spoke in an almost ecstatic mood, recalling the events of the night before. “Well, I managed to let Light know that I suspected him, and I found out that he’s on the Taskforce too.”

“He’s on the Taskforce as well?” Rose exclaimed. “What are we going to do?”

“But, that’s a good thing. It means that he might be less likely to kill us because that will just make Ryuzaki suspect him more.”

“Or, it might make him kill us faster because we’re trying to catch him. Like what happened to the FBI agents.”

“What FBI agents?” The Doctor looked slightly confused.

“The twelve FBI agents that died- because they were hired by L to tail possible Kira suspects.” She explained. “I heard someone talking about it in the lobby last night.”

The Doctor stood. “I’m pretty sure that he wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that again. No, I’m positive that he wouldn’t. Kira's too smart to try the same trick more than once.”

Rose stared, confused. She trusted the Doctor- but he was taking quite a few risks.

“And besides, today we focus on capturing the girl who got you framed.” He said as he opened to door to the TARDIS.

The Doctor stepped into the headquarters, his eyes focusing in the dim lighting. Rose followed behind, holding his hand so that she didn’t trip over anything. The rest of the Taskforce walked in behind them, concerned looks as if they knew something. The dim lighting wasn’t helping with the air of uneasiness that filled the room.

“I’m sorry, Doctor, but I’m afraid that we will have to postpone your case for a bit longer- Right now the Kira case is one of my top priorities.” L spoke, not bothering to turn around.

“Well, yes, that makes sense.” The Doctor nodded. The Kira case was obviously much more important, but he couldn’t help but wish that everyone put Rose, or any of his other companions, at as high a priority as he did. But, solving the Kira case might help them catch the mystery woman.

L ignored the Doctor’s comment, pressing a button on one of the many microphones placed on the table. “Watari, has she said anything yet?”

“No, she hasn’t spoken a word.” Watari responded, his voice projecting from speakers on a blank television screen.

“Get me a visual of her, please.”

“Are you sure?” Watari sounded a bit reluctant.

“Yes, quickly.” L responded, his voice convicting.

Rose, along with the rest of the Taskforce, gasped as the screen flickered to life, the image on the screen almost like something from a nightmare:

A slight breathing filled the speakers, obviously frightened. A blonde pigtailed girl stood in a dark, seemingly empty room, illuminated by two harsh white spotlights. A large black blindfold obscured half of her face.

The figure whimpered as she tried, in vain, to stretch her stiff shoulders. She was placed on a large dolly, her neck, chest and legs fastened into a net of straps and buckles. The girl was positioned so that she was forced to remain standing; her arms were folded across her chest, held in place by the tattered straightjacket she was wearing. Her feet were bare and her ankles chained to the back of the dolly. The setup seemed extremely complex and painful.

“Ryuzaki, what’s the meaning of this?” Aziwa accused, Matsuda nodding in agreement.

“I’ve arrested her on the suspicion of being the second Kira- I’m afraid this is necessary.” L stated, the emotion completely gone from his voice.

Mr. Yagami clarified. “Chances are Misa Amane is guilty. There seems to be enough evidence to convict her, but all the same…”

“Yes.” L confirmed. “There can be no mistake-Now we need a confession out of her.”

Rose nearly lunged at L. “You can’t do that to her! Even if she is-”

The Doctor grabbed her by the shoulder before she could ‘attack.’ He promptly and softly explained that L had a slightly…different…way of solving cases than the average police force.

“Yea, I figured that out about five seconds ago.” Rose stated sarcastically. She looked the Doctor in the eyes. “I can’t believe you helped this man.” She whispered. Then raising her voice a bit too loud, making sure that the rest of the taskforce would hear, “He sent twelve FBI agents to their deaths- most likely knowing that they would die, and now this?!?” She glared at the detective crouched in the chair, before staring back at the screen, feeling a twinge of pity for Misa.

L looked askance at Rose before continuing. “We need to know how Misa kills, if she knows Kira- and, if so, who he really is.” He spoke into the microphone again. “Watari, take the necessary precautions, but beyond that, you’re free to do whatever has to be done. Just make her speak.”

Ryuzaki paused and addressed Mr. Yagami. “Oh, and Light has now become our prime suspect, so I’ll most likely bring him in for interrogation as well.” L continued, a look of distain covering Mr. Yagami’s face. “Please be prepared for that.”....
