Okay. So. New story. This one will actually progress, and have real chapters. Oh. I also edited it a bit. Yay editing.

“Hey, are you okay?”

Callie looked at Mark and raised an eyebrow. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Erica left and you broke down in front of the entire OR, and then last week a patient pushed you to the ground, causing your nose to break,” he replied.

“And then you cleared me two days later. I’m fine.” Callie was headed towards the nurse’s station, waiting to see which of the residents would be assigned to her case.

“Okay, but if you need a shoulder to cry on or anything,” Mark started, a smirk forming on his face, “you know where to find me.”

She rolled here eyes and walked passed the chief’s office, noticing that his door wasn’t closed all of the way. The polite thing to do would be to just continue walking towards the nurse’s station, however Callie couldn’t resist stopping for a moment upon hearing a female’s voice.

“I’m sorry, Richard, but there is no way that I am coming back to work at this hospital,”

“Erica, just please reconsider. The hospital’s ranking is slowly raising, and with you back as head of cardio we could get our spot back in the top five,” the chief replied.

The colour in Callie’s face drained, and she nearly had to drag herself over to Doctor Bailey.

“What’s the matter with you, Torres?” Bailey looked at her, a questioning expression on her face.

“Nothing, nothing…” Callie inhaled deeply, awaiting the resident that would be helping with the surgery she had later that morning.

Doctor Bailey gave her one last doubtful look before assigning Doctor Grey to her case

“Um, I’ll be right back but I need you to start prepping Mr. Greenblat for his surgery,” Callie said hastily, not even bothering to see that Meredith had nodded and went off to prep the patient.

Callie hurried passed the chief’s office, giving it a glance just to see if Erica was still there. She nearly ran into Lexie Grey in her rush, not even worrying about the young intern. There were four doors in a row, each of them containing two bunked beds, and Callie ran into the second one.

“Ready to shed those tears?” Sloan asked, setting down the medical magazine he was reading.

“Erica is here,”

“What?”

“I was walking passed the chief’s office and I heard him asking her to come back to work again,” Callie was now pacing, panic obviously overcoming her. “What do I do?”

Mark stared at her blankly, clearly with no idea as to what she should do. “Uh…”

“Mark!”

“Sorry, but I don’t know how to deal with this sort of stuff! I only know sex!”

Callie heaved and raised her arms up. “You’re useless,” With that, she left the on-call room, slamming the door behind her.

“Oh, Doctor Torres, Mr. Greenblat is prepped and ready for his surgery,” Doctor Grey said, leaving the patient’s room.

“Alright, let’s get him down to the OR,” she replied, actually seeing Grey nod in comprehension this time.

Mr. Greenblat’s surgery was routine, as it was only a simple spinal alignment surgery, one that Doctor Torres had done many times before. She could tell that Doctor Grey was uninterested, and did not blame her. Within an hour, Mr. Greenblat’s spine was fully aligned, and the surgery was complete with no complications.

“That was, um,” Meredith cocked her head slightly, trying to think of the right word to use.

“It’s okay, spinal alignments are pretty boring,” Callie said, giving a feeble smile. “Just check on him in forty-five minutes or so to make sure everything’s alright,”

“Alright,”

Callie left the scrub room and sighed as she headed off to the cafeteria. The chief’s door was still ajar when she walked passed it, and she wondered if Doctor Hahn had left yet.

Slowly coming to a halt, she listened: “This hospital has lost all of its values. Stevens stole a heart, and nothing happened!” Erica, clearly, was still here.

“That was in the past, and it has already been taken care of,” the chief sounded as if he had said that numerous times.

“Obviously not, because she’s still a doctor. I don’t think I can work here if you let your residents run around cutting L-Vad wires.”

“You were fine working here, with Doctor Stevens, before you knew what had happened. What makes this any different?”

“It’s different because now I know what she did!” Doctor Hahn practically yelled.

“But what if you didn’t know? What if you never found out?” Callie had to hand it to the chief, because she was sure there was nothing Erica could say to that. Though, she wasn’t quite sure how this was supposed to convince the heart surgeon to return to this hospital.

Erica left the chief’s office without a word, leaving his door open. Callie was standing right in front of it, waiting patiently for Erica to look up.

“I don’t have time to deal with this,” she muttered with disgust in her voice.

“This, what you’re doing? No. You walked away.” Callie said indignantly.

“You sided with Izzie Stevens. The woman who ruined your marriage,” Erica reminded her.

Callie hesitated for a split second and then laughed. “You know, if she hadn’t wrecked my marriage George and I wouldn’t have gotten a divorce. And then, of course, I would never have been with you,”

“I’m leaving,” But before Doctor Hahn could, Callie took hold of her arm and pushed her against the wall, right next to the chief’s now closed door.

“Not again. Not...no. I-you..." Callie shook her head and loosed her grip, placing her free hand on Erica's shoulder and kissing her, just like that.

“Doctor Torres,” Erica said when the broke apart, “do you know how to properly speak or do you just say things through your actions?” The expression on her face was serous, and her tone didn’t sound too pleased.

“Now if you don’t mind,” she continued, “I’m leaving.”

I'll try to actually update this one, unlike most of my other chaptered stories...
