Pics used for cover art were from various sites dedicated to the stars and are completely credited to the sites from which they are hosted. Gabriel Van Helsing belongs to the character’s creator, Steven Sommers. And in addition, Gabriel Van Helsing is based on Abraham Van Helsing whom was created by Bram Stoker, in his novel, Dracula. Furthermore, the Count, Dracula who is also part of the story (but I tweak him a bit) is of course credited to his creator, Bram Stoker.
Summary: *Slight cross-over between the movie Van Helsing, and the WWE.
One of Meadow Van Helsing’s many dreams came true when she met Dave Batista at a young age, and instantly won over a true best friend. Another of her dreams came true when she was signed onto the WWE. However, her hopes and dreams soon shatter into nightmares when she discovers she is being stalked by a man she recognizes, but doesn’t know; The Rock. She has no idea what he could want with her, and that’s what frightens her most.
Dave Batista knows exactly what is going on but is unsure of how to approach the subject. He figures the fact that he and half the WWE are vampires is not exactly going to comfort her. He knows deep down that he loves her and always has. He fights the most important fight of his life, to find a way to save her before the Rock can use her for his chaotic intentions.
Sorry this is so short, but it IS just the prologue and hopefully will set the mood for the story quite nicely!
*Prologue*
London, England
September 28, 1898
Gabriel Van Helsing sat at his wooden desk and dipped a quill into some black ink to write what would be his final journal entry. His elegant spider-like script stretched across the parchment as he wrote.
It was a year ago that the Count Dracula defeated me. I still, to this very day, feel so very foolish for not seeing his plan. But how could I have known what he planned to do? And even if I did see it, I still had to do what I did. He had my wife.
“Elizabeth…” He uttered softly, as he rubbed his exhausted eyes. He was thankful she and the children were alive, but so very angry that he had still lost them after fighting with everything he had for several years; trying to defeat Dracula.
I had fought Dracula for several years, trying desperately to destroy him; to wipe him from the face of this earth. But I failed. He took my Elizabeth, knowing that I would come for her. It was me he wanted all along. It was my blood he wanted. And now I know why; but not how.
As I untied Elizabeth, he dove at me. He grabbed my shoulders and then his fangs were in my neck. As weak as I became, he was able to slit his wrist with a dagger and forced some of his own blood into my mouth.
I was never the same again.
Gabriel slammed his fist against the hard wooden desktop as he re-lived the horror of his life. And then, composing himself, began to write again.
It appears that the Van Helsing bloodline gives him strength. Since Elizabeth is not a Van Helsing by blood, she was useless to him. But our children…Abarrane, Dalton, Melvin…they will have this curse upon them for all their lives. I can only hope and pray, they can stay well hidden, or defeat Dracula when he comes for them.
Because I can no longer fight this battle for them. I can not stomach the idea of living another day as this…beast.
I want to be finished.
The children are grown. I have urged them to flee the country. To get as far from here as possible and to stay hidden. I’ve even requested that they not marry so as not to prolong our lineage that will cause Dracula to keep feeding; to keep gaining strength. It is not much of a life, I realize. But, I fear, that that is irrelevant. We have a duty to try and stop this monster. And if it’s by stopping our bloodline in it’s tracks, then it must be done.
As for me, I’m finished as it is. So this will be my final entry after a full year of living off animals. A full year of experimenting to find out what in our blood causes his surge in strength and power. A full year of failure.
I must die. I have to. If I don’t, Dracula will do everything in his power to find my family. I imagine he even has the power to read my every thought. I can’t take that chance. Of course, my children and beloved wife have no idea of my intentions. And that is best. I fear, they would not leave if they did know. I may be referred to as “the undead”, but I am very much dead. But my love for my family is most certainly not. And it never will be.
That is where Gabriel Van Helsing ended his entry.
He slowly stood and removed his jacket. And then deliberately picked up the sterling silver dagger that he knew would get the job done quickly. Painfully, but quickly. So many assumed that wooden stakes is what killed a vampire. He only hoped that they would all soon learn, that it was sterling silver that would truly kill a vampire, or decapitation.
With those last thoughts, he rammed the dagger into his heart, and evaporated into a fine mist; never to be seen or heard from again.
