"You're an idiot," she tells him, waiting for him to wake up. "What you did was stupid and irresponsible and dangerous. Stupid, stupid man."

Her words lie.

Her body betrays her concern: she holds his hand tightly; she can't look away from his face; her posture is tense and when she isn't speaking, she bites her lower lip.

What she does not say aloud: If you do not wake up, I will kill you for breaking my heart. If you die now, I will never forgive you.

And what she cannot say, cannot even think, is this: I love you.
