Blu: You know, I've always wanted to do a future fic for Kingdom Hearts, but I wasn't sure how to do an authentic one with the limited amount of Disney movies out there. So I've been reduced to doing what other fan fiction authors for the KH series have done and did crossovers with worlds (and characters) outside of the Disney range. There are also characters from Square-Enix games other than Final Fantasy and of course, a new type of enemy.

Sora: For real? You're actually going through with this?

Roxas: Okay, what's the catch?

Blu: There is no catch! I just wanna see how far I can go in this fic before I lose all inspiration for it. So I wanna see reviews, guys! You hear me?! Tell me how I can improve on it or how I can make it...not like other future fics that you see! I know the KH side of fan fiction is sort of empty until Birth by Sleep and 358/2 Days come out, but I really want your opinions on this story!

Roxas: The pleas of a desperate authoress.

Sora: And a bored one at that.

Blu: Will you two stop double-teaming me?!

Sora & Roxas: No.

Blu: ...Just shut up and let them read the fic.

Summary: Fate and Destiny are said to be things we can't ignore, but one boy is trying to avoid his Destiny. He has two Roads before him, with two Keys that can open two Doors that hold two different, yet similar things that may either save the worlds or destroy them. It's all his choice, but in the end, all he wants is to find his sister, and he'll take whatever Road leads him to her fastest. His path is his alone to decide, but at the end of his journey, the decision he makes may change the omniverse.

#1: The Calling

"Often the steps we take to avoid destiny lead us to it."

A young man was floating in water. Above him was a light that shone from the surface above. Below him were the murky depths that held only darkness.

~You must choose a side~ A voice spoke. He couldn't hear it, but he saw the words in his mind.

"Shut up." The darkness beneath him seemed to grow and a red glow was visible for a second.

*You can't stay on the sidelines forever.* Another voice spoke. Like the one before it, he couldn't hear it, but he saw its words. As for how he could tell they were different...

"I said 'shut up'." The water on the surface above rippled and the light appeared to shine brighter.

~You cannot keep your heart locked forever.~

"Just watch me." The darkness grew closer and the red glow was visible, albeit dull, out of the corner of his eye.

*I'll find a way into your heart eventually. Darkness is in every heart.*

"That's what you think." The water rippled and the light grew brighter.

~You must choose a side.~

*You'll fight for my sake.*

~Will you allow the Darkness to engulf you?~

*Will you allow the Light to erase you, without allowing you to redeem yourself?*

~Choose.~

*Choose!!*

"SHUT UP!! ...I know what my values are. I don't need either of you to tell me how to live my life. So buzz off."

~It is your destiny.~

*Your destiny is within Darkness.*

"I decide my destiny. Not the Light...not Darkness... I don't need either of them. I only need me." For the first time since the voices began talking, he moved his hand and grabbed the mp3 player that hung around his neck. The darkness and the light were growing. He pressed 'Play'. Techno music began to play at the max volume as both darkness and light merged together.

Calling... You hear the calling...

Calling... You hear the calling...

He took a deep breath and sat up. He was no longer standing in the seawater at a beach. A man was standing a good distance away from him in the sea, staring out at the sunset. His spiky hair looked blonde in the light of the setting sun. The boy took a step towards him, but a large tsunami suddenly rose before the man. The man turned around, only his lower face visible as he smiled and spoke inaudible words before the waves came falling down onto him and pushed the boy onto the shore of a nearby beach.

Let me go, Gravity

What's on my shoulder?

Little by little

I feel a bit better

As he laid down on his back, the boy stared up at the sky. The multi-colored sky turned dark. He sat up and saw a girl standing in the water now with her back turned to him, pale white hair blowing in the sea breeze. As she turned around, he only caught a glance at her face for a second before she became a younger girl, with blonde-tinted brown hair who turned around and smiled at him, mouthing words he couldn't hear. He got up and ran to her, but he tripped in the water and fell through the water, the last thing he saw being her sky blue eyes and wide smile before they disappeared in ripples of water.

Let me know, set me free

Feel a bit older

Just once more unto the breach

Dear friend, once more

The water became dark as he fell through several stained glass floors, until he finally landed on the on a stain glass alter. On the blue and gold upper half of the altar was a woman and on the black and red bottom half was a monstrous-looking demon.

"Calling, you hear the calling.

Let me go, gravity.

What's on my shoulder?

Little by little, I feel a bit better.

Let me know and set me free."

Darkness from the bottom half of the portrait began to wrap itself around his legs. Light from the upper half started to engulf his upper half.

Wake up. Leave your hesitation

Wake up. Time for us to realize

Wake up. Show appreciation

Wake up. Time for us to realize

Wake up. Leave your hesitation.

Wake up. Time for us to realize.

Wake up. Show appreciation.

The last thing the boy saw was a stained glass window above him. It was of a black-clad, spiky-haired boy wielding a key with pictures of people around him. The light and darkness mixed together and became a gray sort of color before the boy lost consciousness...

Wake up. Time for us to realize...

He couldn't hear anything. He blinked his dark purple eyes open and held his mp3 player up over his face. He clicked the play button and nothing happened. The batteries were dead.

"Hiro!! Time for breakfast!!" A woman's voice called from downstairs. The teen set his foot out of his bed and stretched his arms before heading over to his closet.

Several minutes later, the 16-year old teen stood in front of a full body mirror that was on his door. His blonde-tinted brown hair was spiky with bangs that hung in front of his face. He wore a sleeveless silver gray hoodie that had a large dark gray stripe going down the front where the zipper was, black knee-length shorts with gray and black pockets and a black belt that hung loosely around his waist, and silver gray and black sneakers. On his hands were fingerless black gloves with gray cuffs. Around his neck was a pair of headphones that were connected to a gray, oval-shaped mp3 player.

The teen slid open the battery compartment and pulled out the dead batteries before tossing them in the waste bin and walking out of the room.

Later, as he entered the kitchen, he saw the usual sight of his mother sitting at the small table, sipping some coffee and look at a magazine that was laid out on the table.

His mother was beautiful. With long red hair and brilliant purple eyes, a figure that most women her age would kill for, and a lovely smile, it was no wonder there were guys at his school who had crushes on her. The fact that she looked younger than her age may have had something to do with it. Maybe it was just a Princess of Heart thing.

"Good morning, sweetie," his mother spoke without looking up from her magazine.

"Morning," the gray-clad boy, Hiro, muttered as he leaned against the doorway.

"I made you breakfast. It's over there." Kairi pointed a slender finger at the oven nearby. "It's still warm, so you don't have to heat it up."

"Thanks, Mom." Hiro looked at the empty chairs at the table. "Where's Nanami?"

"She went out with Kishi." She ignored the way her son's eye twitched. "They're in town, shopping."

"Uh-huh... Do we have anymore batteries?" Even if he asked this question, he knew the answer.

"No. You took the last ones." Kairi looked up at her son with a smile. "You've been going through those a lot lately!"

"Huh. I guess I'll go buy some more. Be back in a while!" He turned to exit through the back door, but his mother grabbed his wrist and pulled him back towards her.

"You won't eat breakfast?" She asked with a pout.

Hiro's dark purple eyes stared into his mother's brighter ones and he hung his head, sighing, "Okay..."

The red-haired woman smiled and released her son as he made his way over to the oven. "Good! Growing boys need to eat, you know! Oh, and since you're going into town, you can pick up some things for me!"

"These aren't those girly things you sent Dad to get once, right? Because he looked like it was the worst thing that could ever happen to him..." The brunette teen muttered as he opened the cabinet over the counter and took out a glass.

"No, that's not it. And your father was overreacting when he said that," Kairi pointed out before flipping the page of her magazine and picking up her cup of coffee. "I just need you to pick up some common things. I'll even give you some munny to pay for them and your batteries." She then tilted her head slightly and gave another smile. The same type of smile that could make her husband do as she wanted without hesitation. "Okay?"

"...Okay."

Destiny Islands was once a simple little place, but over the years, the largest island where the most people had lived became an island city--if it could be called such, a small set of islands became part of a nature park/sanctuary, and the rest were considered vacation spots and places to get away from it all. Only one island seemed to change, yet remain the same, and that was the Playground Island where hardly anyone went anymore. Personally, Hiro preferred the abandoned island. It was quieter there than in the city, where he felt there were too many people and too many voices since he started to have those strange dreams--as if the people those voices belonged to were likely to be hiding in the crowds and in plain sight. The only thing that made it all bearable was Hiro's beloved mp3 player.

"Thank you! Come again!" A voice called out to Hiro as he walked out of the electronics store and onto the sidewalk where people walked around him. In one hand, he had a plastic bag with the words RadioHut printed on it and a week's worth of batteries inside, and in the other, he held an empty battery package. His headphones were on his ears and he was listening to the latest song from his #2 band. He tossed the battery package into a nearby trashcan as he walked past it. 'Now to finish up the shopping and find Nanami,' he thought as he disappeared into the crowd.

"Wow, how lucky am I?" A 13-year old girl giggled as she played with the chain that had a charm that looked like an A-plus on it. Her blondish-brown hair was short in a boyish way and her sky blue eyes carried signs of her purity. She wore a long-sleeved and slightly oversized pink sweater, despite the weather, black shorts with pink pockets, pink and black sneakers with white soles, a black beanie with a pink heart and crossbones on it, and a silver chain around her neck with a silver crown pendant. "I got the last of those Honor Student charms!"

The tall 16-year old boy sitting across from her sighed. His short, pale blue hair was straight with bangs that hid his right eye and his apple-green eye showed the same indifference as his face did. He wore a blue dress shirt that was unbuttoned at the top to show a bit of chest and a black vest, blue jeans, and black and blue sneakers. People who looked at him saw a handsome, though a bit too thin, young man, but he was a tad more complicated than he looked.

The blonde girl blinked and stared at the blue-haired boy in confusion. "Something wrong, Kishi? Oh, I know! You're sad that you didn't get a charm like me, aren't you?"

Kishi's focus went from the burger he was holding in his hand to the girl sitting across from him on the other side of the table. "Nanami... Why do you keep falling for stuff like that?"

Nanami blinked and tilted her head slightly to the side, her eyes showing confusion. "Huh? What stuff?"

"Those charms you keep buying. They don't really work, you know. They're just rip-offs."

The brunette pouted, her bottom lip quivering. "Nonbeliever! You're just like Hiro!" She didn't notice the teen twitch upon hearing her brother's name. "They do too work! All you have to do is believe and they'll work!"

He snorted and returned to eating his burger. As if wishing on a charm could make life better. As if a charm for getting good grades could work in the summer. She said she was 'being prepared'. He called it nonsense.

"Ah!" Nanami began to smile brightly again. "I know! Next time, I'll find something that'll make you happy." Either she didn't notice the way Kishi rolled his eyes or she simply ignored it. A hand then touched her shoulder, making her look up to see the person. "Hiro! Hello, Mr. Sleepyhead!"

The gray-clad teen, who was now carrying several bags of groceries in on hand, gave his sister a smile. "Hey, you!"

"Look at the neat charm that Kishi bought for me!" She exclaimed as she held up the charm by its keychain-like ring and it swayed back and forth. It was a small, wooden A+ painted in red and black. "It's supposed to help me get good grades in school. You could use one to raise your B-average! Hee-hee!"

Hiro and Kishi made eye contact. Their eyes narrowed and the tension between them seemed to thicken.

"What good's a charm like that in the middle of summer?" The shorter boy spat.

"She bought it, no matter what she says. I only gave her the money to buy it," the taller boy spoke calmly.

As the two teens continued to glare at each other, Nanami decided to shift in her seat and stare at the people in the street, pouting cutely. She started to tap her fingers on the arm of the plastic chair when she noticed something that seemed to stick out in her eyes. It was another little girl, carrying a Moogle doll. She stared at bright red cotton ball that served as its pom-pom, bouncing up and down with each step the girl took to keep up with her father. "Oooh, I want that...!" She whispered in awe. "Kishi, I want one of those!"

The blue-haired teen arched an eyebrow. "You want a doll? ...Okay." No sooner did those words leave his mouth did Hiro crack the metallic side of a parasol that he jacked from a nearby table upside Kishi's head, making him fall out of his seat.

Rather than act surprised like everyone else, Nanami pouted and puffed up her cheeks. "Hiro...! Why do you have to do that?!"

The gray-clad teen stood over Kishi, holding the parasol against his shoulder as he panted heavily. He suddenly dropped the parasol next to the older boy's body and pulled Nanami out of her seat. "Let's go, Nanami," he grunted as he picked up the grocery bags that he had dropped and started to drag his sister behind him.

"But...! Kishi...!"

"Forget about Kishi! We don't need him."

Several waiters and customers stared at Kishi, who was starting to bleed out of the side of his head.

"Oh, my goodness! Somebody get a first aid kit or something!!" One of the waitresses shouted.

Kishi started to sit up, shocking the people around him. He held onto the bleeding wound on his head and stared apathetically at Hiro and Kishi before they disappeared from his sight.

Several minutes later, Nanami was pulling her older brother down the sidewalk, bumping into people all the while. "Come on, come on!! The toy store's so close!" She exclaimed as her sky blue eyes shone with a child-like innocence. "Oh, I want a moogle doll, and a moomba, and a cactuar, and--"

"Aren't you a little too big to be playing with dolls?" Hiro asked with an arched eyebrow as he continued to let his sister drag him.

"Daddy played with dolls!"

"Dad was just playing with you. He wouldn't do that if he wasn't playing with you."

The brunette girl puffed out her cheeks. "He still played with dolls!"

Her brother gave a small smile before a hand grabbed him by the shoulder and pulled him and Nanami, who was still gripping his hand, into an alley. "What the heck?!" The purple-eyed teen shouted as he raised a fist to strike whoever the culprit was.

"Well, what do you know? It's just the guy I wanted to see! Hiro, my man!" A 16-year old boy with short, unkempt red hair that ended up in a short ponytail spoke. He wore a short-sleeved black jacket with the words "We'll Rock On" on the back, a long-sleeved white shirt, baggy black pants, black sneakers, and a pair of goggles on his head. Standing next to the redhead was a taller, and more intimidating, boy with a shaved head and shades on his face, wearing a long-sleeved black and white shirt, baggy black pants and black fingerless gloves.

"Reno? Rude? What's the big idea, just pulling us out of the street like that? I was about to beat you guys senseless!"

"Psssh!! As if you could," Reno said with a smirk. "Anyway, we could use your help with something. Remember that Leblanc chick? The one who has the thing for hearts?"

"Uh...yeah. So?"

"Well, she's pretty much claimed our spot for her own. And that ain't right! So we're gonna go and teach her and her fan boys a lesson!"

"Sounds good to me. That chick's been asking for it ever since she transferred to our school." A tug on his arm made Hiro look down at his sister.

"Hey, what's this?! You're supposed to be buying me a doll, not starting a gang war!!" Nanami shouted loudly.

"Who said anything about gang wars?! We're just going to kick some jerks out of our spot! It's nothing to cry about..."

She frowned and folded her arms across her chest. "If you leave me all alone, I'm going to...run home and tell Mom!!"

Hiro bent down slightly so he could be on eye level with his sister. "If I buy you a doll, will you promise not to tell Mom anything?"

"See? That's why you're such a good big brother! You know just what I want!"

"Yeah, yeah yeah..." Hiro looked back at Reno and Rude. "We'll meet up later, 'kay guys? Just let me take care of a few things first."

"You mean let yourself get pushed around by your kid sister," Reno said as he cocked an eyebrow.

"Hey, I'm not a kid! And I have a name! It's Na-na-mi," the brunette girl said with a frown.

"Whatever, kid... Just go and do whatever the hell it is you’ve got to do and meet us back here, okay Hiro? And leave the munchkin at home where she belongs."

Nanami stuck her tongue out at the red-haired teen before Hiro grabbed her hand and they ran out of the alleyway.

Some time around noon in an area filled with small, two-floor houses, Hiro, Reno and Rude went through a gap that was in a fence and into the yard of an old house. The house wasn't a pretty sight to see with its peeling paint, damaged roof and broken glass windows, but it was their spot, and Leblanc and her fan boys weren't going to take it over.

"Alright, weapon check. I've got mine," said Reno as he held up a nightstick with something at the end. He pressed a button on the stick and electricity began to surge at its tip. "Heh-heh...! I got this from my dad! He won't notice that it's missing so long as I put it back before he goes on his shift. Hiro?"

Hiro held up a steel bat. "I've got mine."

"Whoa, you plannin' on bludgeoning them to death? Don't do that! You'll get their blood all over the place! What about you, Rude?" The redhead looked at the tallest boy of the group, who held up his fists. "Going for the traditional style, huh? Whatever..." Reno balanced his nightstick against his shoulder and smiled before turning on his heel. "Let's go and kick some ass, shall we?"

The trio walked up to the door of the abandoned house, which Rude kicked down with his foot.

"Eeek!! What on earth?! What idiot dares to enter Chateau Leblanc?!" A 16-year old girl shouted as she sat up from the old couch that she had been lying down on. She had short, straw-colored blonde hair that had a pair of chopsticks with hearts on top, and wore a short-sleeved purple blouse with a heart-shaped hole in-between her breasts, a purple miniskirt with a slit that went up the front, purple short-shorts and ankle-high purple boots.

"'Chateau Leblanc'? What sort of stupid name have you given our spot?" Reno asked as pointed his nightstick at the purple-clad girl known as Leblanc.

Leblanc wrinkled her nose in disgust. "You lowlifes again? What are you doing here?"

"We're here to take back what's ours!" Hiro exclaimed as he tightened his grip on the bat.

"What's... Oh! So this dump is yours, huh? Well, it's mine now! And the first thing I'm going to do is have my father hire tons of people to fix it up!" The blonde girl said with a wave of her hand. "It's going to look fabulous!"

"Uh, no. It won't look fabulous, because you're not going to change a thing about our spot," Reno said, waving the nightstick rod every time he emphasized a word. "And if we don't get it back, we're gonna knock the pretty off your face."

Leblanc narrowed her eyes. "You're such brutes! You don't hurt a lady!!" She looked over at a door that led into another room. "ORMI!! LOGOS!!" A pair of teenagers ran into the room, one a tall, narrow-eyed guy and the other a large, yet muscular guy both wearing the same outfit, long-sleeved blue and purple jackets that been zipped up all the way and blue pants. "Get rid of these dullards!"

"Of course, Miss Leblanc," the taller boy, Logos, said.

The large boy, Ormi, pounded his fist into the palm of his hand with a smirk. "You guys are gonna be sorry you messed with us!"

"Keep telling yourself that before you hit the floor!!" Hiro shouted as he leapt at Ormi and swung his bat into the bigger teen's rib. The brunette was then pulled back by Logos and thrown into a burned-out lamp. Rude grabbed Logos and got the skinnier teen in a chokehold just as Hiro got back to his feet and took a swing at Logos's head. A sickening crack could be heard as blood trailed down the side of his head.

Just then, Ormi pulled Rude off of his friend and the two of them started to tumble on the ground as Logos fell. After a while, the portly teen had Rude pinned to the ground. The bald teen's shades were on the floor, snapped in half during their bit of wrestling, and there was a bruise on his cheek that seemed to resemble knuckle imprints.

"I've got you now!" Ormi panted as blood dribbled down his broken lip. He pulled his head back for a headbutt when Rude's foot connected with the portly teen's groin. "OOOOOHHHH!!!" He rolled off of the taller boy, crying in pain before Reno simply placed the tip of his nightstick on Ormi's stomach and pressed the button that sent several volts of electricity through him. "GYAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!" After what might have felt like forever to Ormi, Reno stopped and pulled the nightstick off of him. Still twitching slightly, the portly teen gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes, his face red in anger. "You guys...are DEAD!!" He started to get up, but was hit in the face by a steel bat and fell back, unconscious with a broken nose.

"Next time, get fan boys who can fight," Reno said with a smirk as he turned to look at Leblanc. Rude got up from the floor, pulled out another pair of shades and put them on as Hiro rubbed the back of his head.

The blonde girl balled up her fists and narrowed her eyes. "Why...you!!" She grabbed the thing nearest to her, which was a small lamp on a counter, and threw it at the redhead. Rude stepped up and slapped the lamp aside. It shattered upon hitting the wall.

"Don't take that attitude with us! You're not exactly in control of the situation." The redhead walked up to the couch and glared at the blonde. "Now, get out or else."

"You wouldn't dare hit a lady!" Leblanc shouted as she got to her feet and glared at Reno.

He stared at her for a moment before nodding his head. "You're right. I wouldn't hurt a lady..." He touched her leg with his nightstick and let out several volts of electricity into her body. After a few seconds, he pulled it back and Leblanc fell back onto the couch, twitching every couple of seconds. Reno smirked as he poked the girl with his nightstick again. "But you're not exactly a lady." He looked over his shoulder at Rude and Hiro. "Let's go and dump these guys somewhere. Then we can come back and fix things up."

Hiro stared up at the ceiling. "Reno... What's the point in keeping this place?"

"Huh? What do you mean 'what's the point'? It's our spot!"

"Yeah, I know. But someday, it'll get torn down, won't it? And a new house'll be built, and our spot'll be gone. Who knows when that could happen...?" He was then poked in the chest by Reno's nightstick. "Ow!"

"This'll always be our spot, no matter what. And someday, we'll find a way to make this place really ours," the redhead spoke as he folded his arms across his chest. "So quit acting like this place is gonna go away someday! It's thoughts like that that make people think you're a depressing guy!" He walked past the brunette teen, dragging Leblanc by her foot while Rude dragged Ormi by both his arms. "Now pick up that guy and let's get these jerks outta here!"

"...Yeah." Hiro looked down at Logos, who was lying at his feet, grabbed his arm, and started to pull the tall teen out of the house, right behind his friends.

Later that day on the Playground Island as the sun began to set, Hiro, Nanami and Kishi sat on the large branch of a paopu tree with the girl sitting in-between the two boys.

"I can't believe that you don't have any bandages!" Nanami exclaimed as she poked her brother in several places, trying to find an injury or wound. "Where'd you get hurt?" Her mouth was immediately covered by Hiro's hand. "Mmph!!"

"Ssshhh! Do you want Mom to hear you?!" Hiro whispered. With his hand still on Nanami's mouth, he looked down at the shore of the beach where his mother stood. As usual, she was staring out at the sea with a far-off look on her face. The same far-off look that she had every time they came to this island for the last five years. It was as if she expected their father to return to that shore just as he had when they were kids. "Okay, I don't think she heard anything." The purple-eyed boy removed his hand from his sister's mouth and she immediately turned to look Kishi.

"How does your head feel, Kishi?"

The blue-haired teen touched the side of his head before look at Nanami from the corner of his eye. "I'm fine."

The pink-clad girl turned around to frown at her brother and pinch him in the arm. "Hiro!! How could you?! Kishi's in pain because of you!"

"What?! If he's got any pain, he's faking it!!" Hiro shouted loudly. He jumped to his feet and pointed a finger at the taller teenager. "Quit it, Kishi!!"

Kishi remained silent and his gaze shifted from Nanami to the multi-colored sky. Hiro's eye twitched in irritation. The brunette boy walked up to him, grabbed a fistful of his shirt, and with all his might, threw him into the sea.

"Kishi!!" Nanami exclaimed as she jumped off of the paopu tree and looked over the edge of the small island. She saw the quiet teen swimming in the water below. "Kishi, are you okay?"

"HIRO!!!" The volume of Kairi's voice made Hiro flinch. He reluctantly turned around and looked down at the shore to see his mother glaring up at him, her white and purple sundress wafting in the breeze. "What have I told you about starting fights with Kishi?!"

"I didn't start anything! He did!" The gray-clad teen shouted as he pointed a finger at Kishi, who was getting out of the water and onto the shore next to his mother.

The red-haired woman sighed and shook her head slowly. "Hiro, what am I going to do with you?" She looked up at her boy, who was now staring down at his feet with half-lidded eyes. "I'll deal with you later. Let's go home."

"Yes, Mom," Nanami said as Hiro began to walk across the bridge.

X-X-X

After the sun had set and the sky turned dark, Hiro was in his room, on his bed with his hands behind his head, his legs crossed, and his mp3 player sounding off in his ears. His eyelids got heavy and only a few seconds after a new track had begun to play did he fall asleep.

X-X-X

Hiro blinked his eyes open and looked around him. He was now standing on an altar that stood alone in darkness. The floor looked like a white and gray stained glass floor with no particular design on it.

"Aw, crap..." The brunette looked beneath his feet and looked around. "Helloooo? Aren't you gonna speak to me?"

Great power lies within you... But which side this power will assist can be chosen only by you, a voice spoke. Somehow, this voice was different from the other two voices that had been annoying him for the last 5 years. Three pedestals suddenly rose up from the floor, each in a different part of the altar with a heart floating above it. Now make your choice.

In Hiro's mind, he assumed that having a different voice meant that this was a normal dream. Plus, the fact that the voice was letting him make his own choice was enough to make the gray-clad teen go along with it. He walked up to the pedestal on the left, first, where a golden heart glowed brightly as it floated above it.

The power of Light. The power to banish darkness and assist others. The sign of a noble and just person. Is this what you want?

The brunette thought back to the events that had happened today. "...No. I'm not exactly seen as 'noble' or 'just'." He walked over to the pedestal on the far right of the altar, where a black heart floated over it, pulsating with a dull red aura.

The power of Darkness. The power to engulf the light and fend for oneself. The sign of a powerful, but cruel person. Is this what you want?

"...No. I wanna be strong, but I don't want to be cruel." He looked over at the remaining pedestal before walking towards it. There was a gray, transparent heart floating above it. "First was Light...then Darkness...so what is this?"

The power of Twilight. The sign of one caught in-between Darkness and Light. An existence in-between Darkness and Light. Is this what you want?

"...Yeah. Twilight doesn't sound so bad, if I could choose what I want to do." The Twilight heart disappeared in a burst of gray and white sparkles. The glass floor glowed for a moment before it changed, showing a large heart that was half black and half gold and had a lock on it that was in a circle amidst gray and white.

In your hands are two Keys. These Keys will lead you down different Paths, where you will find the answers that you seek. What you find at the end of your long and difficult journey will be up to you. It is your choice... The light that shone down on him from above suddenly went out.

X-X-X

Get down to it or drown by it

It's your turn to throw the dice

Hiro's eyes snapped open just as the final notes of the song ended. 'That...was different. At least I didn't have to put up with hearing those two tonight.' He yawned and got up out of the bed, stretched, and walked out of the room into the hallway. 'A midnight snack should put me back to sleep...' As he reached the staircase, he looked down and saw pale blue hair sticking out in the darkness. 'Hm?' The brunette leaned against the banister to see Kishi staring out of the open door, down the road. After a few seconds, the blue-haired teen ran out of the house, leaving the door open.

Hiro slid down the banister and just barely managed to stop himself from falling off at the end. "What's Kishi up to now? Probably no good." He hopped off of the banister and landed on the floor with a smirk on his face. "I’ll catch him in the act! Then maybe Mom will see things my way." With that thought in mind, he ran out of the house.

The beach on the main island was quiet as the waves calmly washed upon the shore. Kishi was standing on a dock and was hurrying to untie his boat from the post. Once he was done, he got into the boat and rowed away, towards the Playground Island.

Hiro came out from behind a tree and walked onto the dock once Kishi was out of sight. "The Playground Island? What could he do there...?" The gray-clad teen mumbled as he untied the remaining boat from the dock, jumped into it, and rowed towards the island as well.

Hiro's boat crashed into the shore of the island's beach, next to two other boats. 'Wait, two? There's someone else here?' He got out of the boat, putting his feet in the water before he looked around. He had never seen this island at night, but once the moon was hidden by a collecting mass of dark clouds, it seemed like another place. Hiro looked down at the sand and saw two sets of footprints that led to the Secret Place. The brunette followed the steps into the cave entrance. For a moment, he thought he heard voices. The deeper he went in, the louder the voices got.

"I'll do anything to see Daddy again." The voice that said that made Hiro's eyes widen.

'Nanami?' Hiro ran forward and he saw Kishi stand a good bit away from Nanami, who was standing in front of a large, open door--the same door that his father told them about when they were young. But now it was open and the only thing that was inside of it was darkness. By the time Hiro blinked, a large black hand stretched out from within the darkness and grabbed his sister. 'No!!' Before the brunette could run towards Nanami, the hand withdrew into the darkness, taking Nanami with it. Darkness then rushed out of the door and completely covered the two teens and everything turned black...

Upon coming to, Hiro blinked and saw clouds and darkness swirling in the sky above, and islands and pieces of wood were flying around in the sky. He sat up and saw that he was on a fragment of land. A nearby rock that had a drawing on it showed that he was on what once was part of the Secret Place. The rock then rose up into the sky and disappeared into the sky. "Wh...what the heck?! What's going on?!"

~The door has been opened again.~

At the "sound" of the disembodied voice, Hiro started to look around frantically. "The door? What door?!"

~The door of your world.~

*The door to darkness. My domain.* The other voice "spoke".

The brunette narrowed his eyes as the howls of the wind got louder, thunder boomed and lightning cut across the sky. "So you did this?! Just because I won't let you control me?!"

*I cannot open the door where I am. No... It was unlocked by someone on your side....*

Hiro blinked and glanced out of the corner of his eye. He saw Kishi nearby, on his knees and looking around frantically. Purple eyes narrowed and his hands balled up into fists. Before he even knew what he was doing, he was on his feet and charging towards the blue-haired teen. "YOU BASTARD!!!" He tackled Kishi and they rolled around on the ground for a while until Hiro finally had Kishi pinned to the ground.

"Hiro!" Kishi panted, his eyes narrowed into slits. "What're you--?"

"I know what you did!! How could you?! Because of you, Nanami is...!" The gray-clad boy closed his eyes and started to shake as anger welled up in him. He could see an image of a smiling Nanami in his mind, but it faded away into darkness. His eyes snapped open, reflecting intense anger. A fierce killing intent radiated from Hiro as he grabbed Kishi's throat and started to choke him. "I’LL KILL YOU!! I swear that I'll kill you!!"

"Ge...Get off...!" The taller boy grunted as he tried to remove the shorter boy's hands off of his neck, but his attempts were in vain. Hiro wouldn't let go of Kishi's neck until he had snapped it in two.

As the two of them struggled, the ground beneath them cracked. Within moments, the island shattered into several pieces, but surprisingly, Hiro and Kishi didn't fall. Instead, they were pulled apart by some sort of mysterious force and they had started to spin around in the air, as if they were in a tornado. They both looked up at the sky to see a red portal in the sky that everything seemed to rise up into.

"What the hell?!" The brunette shouted as he struggled to keep his headphones and mp3 player on his person while Kishi attempted to grab onto a flying paopu tree. In a matter of seconds, they disappeared up into the portal.

At that same time, on a spaceship somewhere in space, a man slept on a bed with the sound of the ship's engine barely hindering his slumber. His spiky blonde-tinted brown hair looked chocolate brown in the darkness. His breathing quickened and his eyes twitched behind closed eyelids. Sky blue eyes suddenly snapped open and the man started to breathe slowly. As he sat up, the lights automatically flickered on, allowing one to see the beads of sweat that formed on his forehead. He easily wiped the sweat off on his gloved hand and took a deep breath before he looked out of the window.

"What was that?" He whispered to himself. The man placed a hand to his chest, over his heart. 'I feel...like something's wrong...'

Hiro~(KH: TW) Sora and Kairi's only son. After his father left home to save the worlds from darkness once again, Hiro started to have weird dreams and hear voices that told him to choose the Light or the Darkness. 5 years after the voices began, Hiro became a different person and supposedly "locked off" his heart to try and be more mature.

Kishi~(KH: TW) Riku's son who is staying with Sora's family. A quiet and indifferent young man that Hiro often picks fights with for no apparent reason. Ever since his father left, he's had a far-off look in his eyes. Why would he want to open the door to Destiny Island's heart?

Nanami~(KH: TW) The daughter of Sora and Kairi and Hiro's younger sister. She has a firm belief in superstitions and lucky charms. Hiro is overprotective of his little sister, and will do whatever it takes to protect her. Why was she with Kishi that night, though?

Kairi~(KHI) Sora's wife and the mother of Hiro and Nanami, as well as one of the Princesses of Heart. Even though her husband has been gone for 5 years to rid the worlds of darkness, she goes through her days as she did when Sora was still at home for the sake of her kids and Kishi. She often goes to the shore of the island where she, Sora and Riku used to play as kids in the hopes of him returning to that place as he did before.

Sora~(KHI) The Keyblade Master, the wielder of the Keyblade of Light and the father of Hiro and Nanami. 5 years ago, he and Riku left Destiny Islands to find the source of the darkness that was returning to the outside worlds. It's his chain that Nanami wears, so she would know that he would return home.

Reno~(FFVII) A close friend of Hiro's and the leader of their little gang, made up of him, Hiro and Rude. Reno is often the one who gets Hiro into trouble and is said to be a bad influence on him.

Rude~(FFVII) Reno's best friend and the muscle of the group. He hardly ever talks, and when he does, it's usually to Reno. Despite his intimidating appearance, Reno claims that Rude is quite nice. Hiro isn't too close to him, though.

Leblanc~(FFX-2) A rich girl who believes she can get whatever she wants by force--like want Hiro and the guys' spot in an abandoned house for her own chateau. But that attempt fails and she's promptly kicked out by them. Rather than do any fighting herself, she gets her fan boys, Ormi and Logos, to fight for her.

Logos~(FFX-2) A thin, tall fan boy of Leblanc's. Logo is the smart one of the group and unknown to the guys, he was the one who told Leblanc about the abandoned house that Hiro and his friends use as a meeting place.

Ormi~(FFX-2) A fat, but strong fan boy of Leblanc's. Ormi is the muscle of the group, and is surprisingly strong and persistent despite his appearance. But for all his muscle, he's a bit slow, physically and mentally.
