I watched her leave, my face tangled in remorse. As soon as I heard the front door click and her ancient truck roar to life, I let it run off me like water, being replaced by my confident smile. She just rejected me, yeah, but she was lying. I wasn’t stupid and she wasn’t either. She felt what was between us when we kissed as much as I did.
