Sunday Morning
When you walked up behind me and covered my eyes
And whispered in my ear, guess who
I rattled off names like I really didn’t know
But all along I knew it was you
Brennan slowly opened her eyes, trying to adjust to the sunlight filtering through the blinds. Slowly, she sat up and smiled at the sound of someone in the kitchen, the smell of pancakes wafting in through the open door. She slipped on his discarded shirt over her lace underwear and softly padded towards the kitchen, her feet warm against the floorboards.
She saw Booth in a pair of tracksuit pants, in front of the stove humming softly – Poco – she recognised the tune. Quietly she walked up to him and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.
He stopped humming and a smile graced his lips, “Hey Bones.”
“Morning Booth,” she pressed a chaste kiss to his bare shoulder.
Then she withdrew her arms in search of coffee while he kept flipping the pancakes, a grin still plastered to his face.
She poured herself and him a mug of coffee, taking them to dining table while Booth carried a plate of pancakes and some butter and maple syrup. He picked the chair next to hers and she moved in closer, savouring the closeness between them and marvelling how far they had come in a few years.
After the plates has been stacked in the sink – vowing to do the washing ‘later’ – they sat on the couch, a cartoon on the tv in front of them and Brennan laughing at Booth’s childish amusement.
And maybe it’s a little too early
To know if this is gonna work
All I know is you’re sure looking
Good in my shirt
“You know Bones,” he says while playing with a strand of her hair as she’s curled into his chest, “That’s my favourite t-shirt.”
She flashes him a coy smile, “Do you want it back?”
Her only reply is a smile and his hand slipping under the hem of the t-shirt.
