A/N: I meant to post this yesterday, but we lost power last night so I'm sort of a day behind with everything because the only internet access I had was from my phone and we all know how annoying that can be.

Anyway, Many, many of my friends asked for E/B fluff for Christmas, so hopefully this will do...don't expect much substance, it's totally pure fluff as ordered. I also incorporated the monthly challenge prompt on lion_lamb into this, so it's sort of a multi-purpose fic. ;-)

“I have one more surprise for you,” Edward whispered, leaning over my shoulder.

“I thought the gift exchange was over,” I hissed, matching his hushed tone even though I knew every single one of our companions could hear us clearly no matter how softly we spoke.

“Almost,” he responded and I looked up to see him smirking to himself. He stole a quick kiss from my upturned face before pulling gently on my arm. I followed him out to the veranda curiously, my fingers lacing with his along the way. Even after almost two years of being a vampire, I still instinctively shivered as I stepped outside after it had been snowing for a while.

Edward turned around and pulled me close to him, simultaneously turning me to the right so I would notice a very black, very shiny car sitting idly in the driveway. The Aston Martin. I studied it in silence, not sure what its appearance meant yet. It was Edward’s proclaimed “special occasion car” and true to its title, it rarely got used.

“I don’t understand,” I confessed finally, after trying to figure it out on my own. “Are we going somewhere?”

“Yes,” Edward answered simply. He smiled and squeezed my hand before leading down the steps and to the car. He opened my door with a flourish and I hesitated for a split second.

“Edward, what about –” I started and he cut me off with a swift kiss and a gentle push to get in the car.

“Don’t worry about anything. Everyone already knows we’re leaving for the night,” he explained softly. I climbed in the car with one last reluctant look at the house before I gave myself over to whatever it was Edward had planned for tonight. My acceptance of us going somewhere, however, did not mean acceptance of not knowing where we were going.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked hopefully, knowing it was probably in vain.

“You’ll see soon,” he promised, grabbing my hand across the gear shift before peeling out of the driveway at top speed.

“Is it far away?” I ventured.

“Not too far,” he responded with a small smile then he pumped the gas even more, causing the car to jump forward at an impossible pace.

I settled against the seat finally, giving up my questions. I watched the countryside whip by us with curiosity still though. We had only recently moved out to a more remote portion of New York where we had decided to take a few years off from the human charade and just spend time together as a family. The countryside was still mostly unfamiliar to me, but Edward seemed to have no trouble with the twisting back roads.

“We’re almost there,” Edward announced after taking a particularly sharp turn. I perked up a little, my eyes scanning the woods for any sign of something special even though they looked identical to the trees we’d been passing for the entire trip.

“Are you going to tell me what this is all about now?” I asked, studying his profile curiously, trying to decipher his intentions from his unreadable face. A smile spread across his face and he laughed quietly. A thrill passed through me at the sound and inwardly, I marveled at how his laugh could still affect me so thoroughly even after all this time.

“Soon,” was his only reply. I couldn’t help but notice the speedometer slowly but steadily falling, which meant we really must be close. My eyes scanned the trees one more time, but seeing nothing, I returned to studying Edward. I was so wrapped up in my re-memorization of his profile that I barely even registered when the Aston Martin slid smoothly to a stop. I jerked my trance-like state with a start and looked with confusion on the patch of woods that surrounded us. It didn’t look much different than what I had been staring at for the past hour.

Edward killed the engine and while I was still staring out my window, came over to open my door for me and help me out. I tentatively sniffed the air, but found nothing particularly remarkable in the swirl of scents around me.

“I’m still not sure I understand,” I told Edward warily, wondering what I was missing.

“You will, soon, love,” he promised one more time and gestured for me to follow him through the woods. I hurried to comply, eager to finally solve this riddle as twilight descended all around us.

He led me through the woods in silence, occasionally throwing me a calculating look over his shoulder when I would lag behind him to study the tall trees that surrounded us. I would shrug at him and then skip ahead to grab his hand and plant a kiss on his waiting lips, feeling completely content just to be alone with him at the moment. These moments between us had become rare as of late and it seemed that we never got to be solely in each others’ presence anymore.

“Bella,” Edward called softly, breaking the companionable silence between us. I had been drifting around behind him for some time now and I quickly ran to catch back up with him. He had halted and was leaning against a tree while he waited for me. I approached him slowly and threw a curious glance around us. Still nothing special. Edward pushed himself off the tree and without a word, spun me around gently so that he was pushing me gently in the right direction. My eyes sharpened as I finally noticed a slight change in the light filtering through the trees up ahead, but his hands draped gently over my eyes before I could see much more.

I almost protested, but his lips ghosting along my collarbone made any words I had in my brain die a sudden and complete death. For a moment, I could hardly convince my feet to even move as I concentrated solely on the feeling of his mouth on my skin.

Somehow though, I felt myself traveling forward and when his lips finally left my neck, I mourned inwardly, wondering when I would next get to enjoy the sensation. As if in answer to my shift in feeling, Edward’s hands drifted away from my eyes and came to rest on my hips. Slowly, I opened my eyes, quickly adjusting to sudden, undiluted light around me.

As soon as I realized where we were standing, I gasped.

“Alice told me that you missed our meadow,” he explained softly as I stared around me. I was sure my mouth was hanging open as I took in the beautiful glade we were standing on the edge of. “I know it’s not exactly the same…”

At those words, I turned back to him to find Edward looked inexplicably nervous and I couldn’t help but laugh lightly, happily. I ran to him, throwing my arms around him and he caught me easily, swinging me around playfully. As he set me down, I kissed him fiercely, trying to communicate every emotion that was coursing through me right in that moment.

“Edward,” I murmured in between kisses. “It’s perfect.”
