Wildest Dreams
A Friendship Story
Chapter 2

2 more years had passed, since our latest adventure at the pillars. Nikole was now 7 years old, and playing out back in the large garden that Kain had made especially for her. She giggled as a small cat ran past her, Midnight was its name. Samson ran after Midnight meowing for his playmate. "Nikole!" called Raziel, from the entrance of Kains Feif. "Coming!" called back Nikole. She pulled her self to her legs with a hop. She ran to Raziel as he pulled her into his arms. All six Vampire sons stood in their proper places, Nikole lingered silently behind Raziel. She knew better than to talk when a vampire from far away was visiting.

"You've become pathetic Kain." he stated simply, Kain hissed in return gripping the Reaver. The male vampire backed down but only slightly. "Change her Kain, or everyone might think you've gone soft for a human girl." The male was Darnicus, he was too uppity for own good, challenging Kain at every corner. When he found out about Nikole, his leverage over Kain became greater. He threatened to remove Kain from power, but no one took him seriously, then he threatened to kill Nikole and everyone got too up tight.

"Darnicus, must I remind you of last time on how I deal with mouths like yours?" Last time Darnicus had come, Nikole was removed from the room. Darnicus snarled at Kain and swiftly turned on his heels. Darnicus hissed at Nikole which had Raziel having a hissing fit at him. Kain sighed and slumped in his throne. Raziel and the other sons left the room and Nikole ran to Kain. He held her lazily in his lap, stroking her hair once again. This was his favorite pastime, a way to get rid of some of his stress in his body.

How he hated Darnicus, his unrelenting torture of threatening his Nikole. Turn her....NEVER!!! he loved her far too much, which was weird for him, being a vampire made it almost impossible. Him, himself, had an unrelenting selfish nature. Then she came, he found her mother dying, helped birth her, and made a promise to her now dead mother. He would keep that promise, a foolish promise, but he would keep it none the less.

Nikole had fallen asleep in his arms. Cradling her like he had when she was a baby, Kain quickly went to her bedroom to set her on her bed. Quickly and quietly he covered and kissed her a good night. Looking back one last time, Kain left the room to his own bed chambers for the coming dawn.

* 3-years later *

Raziel once again wacked Nikoles legs, which, once again were left ungaurded, with a stick. "Ha," Raziel laughed as Nikole swore underneath her breath. "You have to do better than that Nikole. Remember, that your opponet will always look for openings in your defenses. When attacking you must do the same. There will always be a balance in fighting and defending." stated Raziel wisely. "I KNOW!!! There is a big difference between you and me, or have you forgotten that?! I am human and you are a vampire. You will always be better than me, in everything." snapped Nikole as she threw her stick to the ground. Raziel frowned, "Nikole, there is no difference between us. Only time will make you better, you can not rush these things. NOW! start again from the top." Nikole growled in frusteration, and swiped her stick from the mud, she took a running leap at Raziel and swung.

Kain watched Raziel and Nikole practice from a far. His oldest son had defied him again. Raziel must have seen it fit, he should not let this go unpunished, but alas he did. Nikole was getting mad now, she was having a difficult time trying to keep up with Raziel. She swung to her right, with her stick, but Raziel was behind her in an instant. She snarled at him and swung back behind her. Easily Raziel side stepped it. Nikole then let her temper fly, she threw the stick down upon the ground with such a force that not only did it snap the stick in half, it cracked the ground considerably.

Kain turned away from the scene before him, she was 10 years old now. She had gotten better at controling her super strength, but there were times. Raziel was now try desperatly to calm Nikole down. She was breathing heavily, her arms shaking wildly. Kain walked toward the glade in which they were practicing in. "Perhaps instead of making her extremely mad," said Kain as he stepped out from behind a tree. Nikole and Raziel jumped, "You take a break, Nikole Sophie has made you something to eat. Go." Nikole nodded and quickly disappeared. Sophie was Nikoles maid that Kain had "Hired". She loved Nikole almost as much Kain, but not quite as much.

"Kain..." started Raziel, he knew he was in trouble, but he wouldn't have to beg for his life. "Kain held up his hand, "No, i don't want to hear excuses from you. Why? Why do you insist on doing this? I made it clear from the begining I did not want her to do this. WHY, DAMN YOU! WHY?" Kain snarled loudly. A voice behind startled him, "Because, I want to make you believe I can." Nikole said as she stepped from the trees. Kain looked away wistfully, he had not heard her.

"Nikole, I don't want you hurt." he said painfully. Nikole looked away, and as quietly as he could Raziel left. "Why don't you believe in me? I can do this. There will be a time when you won't be around to protect me. I'm going to leave someday. I have to learn this before something happens to me." Nikole said, playing with the words in her mind. Kain wondered where the little girl had gone, he knew he shouldn't have taught her higher education too soon. This was bound to happend. "Nikole, you're not leaving me anytime soon. I'll keep you forever if I have too." He knew he was being selfish, but it was just him. He sat on a nearby log, Nikole sat next to him and smiled, "Tell you what," she started out, "When I grow up and its time for me to leave, you can tie me up and stick me in a closet somewhere, If you don't want me to go that badly."

Kain couldn't help smiling at her comment, " The hall closet is big enough to hold you, I think." he said, and both Nikole and Kain burst out laughing.
