Family

Exactly a year later, everyone was gathered at Grumman's place for a Christmas party. He was extremely happy and was treating them all like they were family. And in a way, they were. Soon, they would be welcoming a new member courtesy of his granddaughter and her husband. Grumman had plenty of room so everyone was going to spend both Christmas Eve and day at the cozy home.

Roy's entire team from work was there with their families. Even Maes, Gracia, and Elecia skipped out on their normal Christmas vacation in favor of attending the party. They hadn't talked to Roy and Riza since their wedding 10 months prior. Things had been so busy that a simple phone call would require a miracle.

Everyone had arrived except Riza and Roy, and the newlyweds, Havoc and Rebecca. This fact had everyone quite distraught. It wasn't like Riza to be late for anything and she, of course, would drag the others with her to make sure they too were on time. If she was going to be late, she would always call.

Grumman was now pacing the floor in front of the fireplace, a worried expression plastered on his features. He'd called Roy and Riza's home several times only to receive no answer. They also tried Havoc and Rebecca's home also coming up with a lack of an answer.

Patricia, along with Gracia, Maria, Scieszka and Winry, were in the kitchen baking. Patricia had a feeling that things were just fine but she wanted to distract the other women from their worries.

At 12am on Christmas Eve, the phone rang. Grumman rushed over to it and picked up the receiver.

"Hello?" the general said.

"General Sir, sorry for not calling earlier," Rebecca said. "We've been quite busy around here."

"Is something wrong? Are all of you alright?" he asked. He turned to Furey and motioned toward the kitchen, telling him wordlessly to go get the girls. He rushed out and returned with the women.

"Yes sir, I am afraid that Roy and Riza, nor Havoc and I will be able to make it," she said, trying to hold in some laughter. It wasn't nice of her to joke at a time like this but she just couldn't resist. He quirked an eyebrow when he noticed her tone.

"What happened?" he said. "I order you to tell me lieutenant."

"Well, your grandchildren were just born so I think you'll need to come out here," she said with a laugh. Roy is with Riza right now and he asked me to call.

Grumman broke out into a wide grin. "Oh, we will be there…wait…children? Plural?"

"Yes sir, twins," she said.

"I'm on my way!" he said, hanging up the phone.

He turned to the other party goers.

"I'm a great grandfather to twins!" he exclaimed excitedly.

Everyone cheered happily at the news.

"I guess we should move this party to Roy and Riza then," Maes said.

"Yes, that we should," Grumman replied.

Everyone quickly packed up their things and caught a train to Western headquarters, looking forward to meeting the new additions to the family.

And what a family it was. . .

AN: I was hoping this fiction wouldn’t be like Going Home Is Hell and take until March but it looks like it did. LOL I truly hope that you all enjoyed this fiction. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Please review and tell me if you liked it.
