Chapter 3

That night...

Chichi awoke to the sound of Goten making a trip to the bathroom to answer the call of nature, which was a rare occurrence, seeing how the child could sleep through anything. She waited until the light flicked off and she heard him drag along back to his room. She looked over at Goku, when she noticed something strange. Normally, if she would wake up in the middle of the night, Goku would be snoring loudly. But nothing. In fact, she noticed he wasn't moving at all.

“Goku...?” she asked. She put her fingers to his neck. No pulse, not to mention he felt cold to the touch, “GOKU?!” she asked again, shaking him frantically.

“What...?” he asked sleepily, not opening his eyes.

“Goku, honey, I thought you were DEAD!!” she sighed with relief.

Goku sat up slightly and looked at her, “Why would you think that?”

“You weren't breathing and you had no pulse!!” she explained.

“Really?” Goku asked, “Hm...must have something to do with the dragon ball...”

“You had me so worried!” she exclaimed and slapped him.

“Owww...what did I do?” he asked innocently.

“Nothing.” she sighed and laid down, “Let's go to sleep.”

Goku rubbed his cheek, shrugged, and dozed back off.

The next morning, Bardock awoke to Goten bouncing up and down on him.

“C'mon!! Wake up! Wake up! It's time for breakfast!!” Goten giggled happily.

“Five more minutes...” he groaned sleepily, stretching then pulling his arms under his head as a pillow.

“No, cuz we can't eat without you and I'm HUNGRY!!” Goten whined. He noticed his grandfather's tail, which was slowly swaying up and down like that of a cat. He remember his father told him when he was a boy, that was his weak spot. Goten grabbed the tail.

Bardock shot awake, “Goten, let go!!” he hissed.

Goten giggled again and let go, “Now that you're up, let's go!”

Bardock mumbled to himself and followed Goten out of the room.

Goten dashed down the stairs at full speed and plopped into his chair at the kitchen table. Chichi had a huge amount of food on the table, hoping it would be enough for the four Saiyans and herself. A slight smile came across Bardock's face, as the meal was the best thing Bardock had smelled in ages.

“So, Bardock...” Chichi asked, “We haven't had a chance to hear much about you yet since you only got here yesterday...would you mind telling us some about yourself?”

“What exactly would you wanna know?” he asked, “Ask anything and I'll explain it the best I can....”

“Okay...” Chichi smiled, “Where exactly have you been this whole time?”

“On some abandoned planet in a coma.”

“Oh...” Chichi blinked a few times, “Wow...”

“Can you turn into a big monkey like Uncle Vegeta can?!” Goten asked excitedly.

“Oozaru, you mean?” Bardock asked(yes, I'm staring to go by the sub, more and more), “Yeah...any Saiyan with a tail can.”

“How come Saiyans turn into big monkeys?” Goten asked.

“Oozaru!!” Bardock corrected again, “And it's because of a chemical reaction in our tails when we see the full moon.”

“No, not HOW do they, WHY do they?” Goten was trying to be clear.

“I don't know.” Bardock shrugged, “We just...do.”

“Where'd your scar come from?” Goten asked instantly.

“Sheesh, you're just FULL of questions.” Bardock laughed, “Back when I was a kid, some...er....people I knew...” he said, not wanting to say “parents” because they had never truly been that to him, “tried to kill me.”

“Really?!” Goten asked excitedly, “How'd you live?!”
“A friend of mine fixed me up.” Bardock said.

“What was your friend's name?” Goten asked.

“Unken.”

Goten opened his mouth for a second to ask another question before Chichi put her hand on his shoulder.

“Goten, honey, don't you think you've asked enough for now?” she smiled, “Your food will get cold if you don't hurry up and eat.”

“Oh no!” Goten gasped and started chowing down.

Chichi chuckled softly.

Bardock decided he should eat too, since it was clear there would be no more questions until everyone was finished.

Shortly after everyone was finished...

Goku leaned back in his chair, his stomach full, but his mouth not satisfied. Chichi let her hand affectionately brush his shoulder as she passed him to start washing dishes.

Goten ran off to go play with Gohan who wasn't having to study for once, which left the three adults in the kitchen.

“Hey, Dad...I wanna talk to you alone for a minute...” Goku said suddenly.

“Okay.” Bardock shrugged and got up.

They walked outside and to a small meadow with a nice big lake.

“Were you telling the truth...?” Goku asked.

“About what?”

“That you were in a coma the whole time...”

“Yeah.” Bardock nodded, “Why?”

Goku sighed with relief, “Oh, no reason.”

“Is that all you wanted to talk to me about?” Bardock asked.

“No...I have quite a few questions I wanna ask, myself.” Goku said, “I just...don't know where to start...”

“Just start with one, and we'll see where that takes us.” Bardock shrugged.

“Okay...um...” Goku bit his lower lip for a second, “Do I have any brothers and sisters? I...I mean...other than Raditz...”

“You know about Raditz?” Bardock asked, “Wait, we'll come back to that...No, you don't. Your mother wanted to have a lot of kids, but we never really got to. She wanted a girl really badly, as well. For a while, we thought you were going to be a girl.”

Goku tried to imagine himself as a girl. He shook his head to remove the image, and another question came to mind, “What was Mom like?”

“She was--” Bardock began, but was interrupted by Table.

“Hey!” he waved, “Bulma got the radar working!” He then noticed Bardock's mouth was open, “Oh, sorry if I interrupted!!” he apologized.

“Nah, that's okay.” Goku grinned, “Do you have it?”

“Yeah!” Table nodded and pulled it out of his pocket, “According to this, two of the others aren't very far away. They're even traveling together.”

“Cool! Maybe we should go find them?” Goku asked.

“No, we've been watching, and it seems like they're coming to us.”

“Hm...” Bardock said. Table and Goku gave him confused looks, “Who would know where to find us, though?”

Goku shrugged.

“I don't know...from what it looks like, it's all Saiyans...” Table pointed out, “So what SAIYANS would know where to find us?”

“I don't know about you guys, but for me, the dragon ball kept me alive...” Bardock said, a little bit of hope wiggling it's way into his thoughts, “Maybe it's somebody I know?”

Goku shrugged again.

“Could be...I wouldn't rule it out.” Table admitted, “Seeings how you're really the only one of us who lived on the planet for a long time.”

“...it would be good to see some familiar faces again...” Bardock sighed.

Goku frowned slightly.

“I know it's hard to be one of the few survivors of the Saiyans, but I think you can adjust...” Table smiled sympathetically.

“Maybe...” he sighed, “But you two never really got a chance to be on planet Vegeta. I did. Everyone I knew lived there. And then I just wake up one day and....poof. All gone.” he sighed again, “I almost went with them, too...But enough about that...oh, that reminds me....Kakarot, have you ever fought Frieza?”

“Yeah...a looooooooooooong time ago!!” Goku grinned, “Not the hardest fight I've ever been in, but it's one I'll always remember.”

Bardock blinked, “Not...the hardest...?”

“No...Cell was tougher...and DEFINATELY Buu...” Goku nodded.

“...you'll have to explain that...” Bardock said, still amazed. There were people stronger than FRIEZA?

“Hey, look! They're moving again!!” Table said, pointing to the two blinking dots on the radar.

Close to Earth, Fasha and Broly's Pods:

“Hey, Fasha...how much longer until we reach E-arth?” Broly asked.

“About 5 hours.” Fasha yawned, “Man I hate riding in these things...couldn't they be bigger and more comfortable?!”

“At least you don't have to curl up.” Broly laughed slightly.

“That's true...but at least you're not short...” she sighed.

Broly laughed softly again.

“Is that a laugh I heard?” she asked teasingly, “I see I'm finally starting to get through to you.”

“Maybe...” Broly shrugged.

“Well....” she yawned again, “I think I'll catch some shut-eye...wake me up when you can see the planet, kay?”

“Okay.” Broly said.

The Realm Of Stars:

“Daddy, Kira's picking on me!!” Shari whined as she ran up to Raditz.

“Am not!” Kira hissed.

“Are so! You called me ugly and weak!!” Shari frowned.

“Now, now, girls.” Mira said, walking up to them, “You shouldn't fight each other.”

“Hmph.” Kira crossed her arms and turned away from Shari and Mira.

“Don't take that attitude with me, young lady. I can take you out of this world just as easily as I put you in it.” Mira threatened.

“Yes, Mother...” Kira sighed.

“That's my girl!” Mira smiled, “Do you want to come with me to see what's going on?”

“I wanna come!” Shari frowned.

“No, she only offered it to me!!” Kira growled and shoved Shari down. Shari began to cry.

“Come on, dear. Let's go.” Mira grinned and led Kira off to the special “star room”, leaving Shari to cry all she wanted.

Miko and Raditz had seen the whole thing. They looked at each other, “Women...” they sighed.

“Dad-dyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!” Shari cried louder, “She hurt me!!”

Raditz sighed again, “What do you want ME to do about it?”

“Give me a piggy-back ride to my room...?” she asked, giving him a pitiful frown and puppy-dog eyes.

“Big baby.” Miko said coldly.

“Everyone's picking on meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!” Shari cried.

“Miko, don't provoke your sister...” Raditz said, “Do you REALLY want to hear her cry?”

Miko had his ears plugged, “What?” he asked.

Raditz shook his head and hoisted Shari to his shoulders.

She instantly shut up, “Yaaay!!” she giggled.

With Broly and Fasha headed to Earth, only one other Saiyan remains. How will the others get to him, though? And what will happen? Find out next time!!
