Summary
Sonic and co. are out having a great day until a mysterious figure comes and tells them that they are needed in another world. Guess which one it is? You got it. The World that Never Was. What is happening there? Why are they needed?

Author’s notes
I never thought it would come to this. As yet, I haven’t decided the winning side and although it starts off from no-one’s point of view, it may not end that way. Oh well............This is my first Sonic/Kingdom Hearts fic so please be nice. Oh and please review.......

Sonic Vs. The Organization XIII
Sonic yawned as Amy came running down the beach. Tail’s and the others were mere inches behind her back and Sonic couldn’t help but laugh as he saw Tail’s pained look of “kill me now”. A second later, Amy practically buried Sonic in the sand as she accidentally slammed into him.

“Oh, sorry Sonic! I didn’t mean to do that!” Amy said excitedly. “We just got some great news -”

“What’s the news?” Sonic cut in, to prevent Amy from doing her talk fest.

“It’s really great Sonic!” Tails piped up. “There’s like this new fighting contest and the person who wins gets a Master Emerald!” (Sorry, I just finished Sonic Battle and well, I didn’t have anything else to put in except for a normal chaos emerald)

By the time Tails had finished talking, Sonic’s eyes were ready to burst out of their sockets at his excitement. “When does it start!?”

“In about two hours.” Tails replied.

“Great! Then what are we waiting for! Let’s go!” Sonic exclaimed. Then he realised something. “Uh....Tails? Where is it?”

Tails started laughing. “Sonic! You really are thick-headed! I was wondering when you would notice that! You shouldn't rush into things like that! Anyway, it’s in the same place where all the contests are held........Sonic?”

Sonic was already a blue streak on the horizon.

When Tails and the others had caught up with him, they found that he had already signed himself up. Knuckles looked down at the signup sheet. “Uh, Sonic? Why are our names there as well? I don’t remember signing up.”

“Oh that.....I thought it wouldn’t be any fun if there was only me, Rouge and Shadow....so I signed all of you up too! Isn’t that great?” Sonic said. There was immediately a chorus of protests.

“WHAT! Are you serious?!” Knuckles screamed.

“Sonic, you better not have...” Tails said, still shocked.

“But Sonic, I don’t want to fight...” Cream whined and Cheese let out a soft “Chao” in agreement.

“Yeah! That’s my darling!” Gushed Amy. Sonic blushed and raced off, mumbling something about finding Chris. “Did I do something?”

No answer.

“Loud” would have been an understatement as cheering erupted from the stadium as the contestants walked into the arena. First there was Tails who waved cheerfully at the audience. Then Amy ran in like a maniac, dragging Sonic behind her. Knuckles walked in with his nose in the air and accidentally walked right into Tails. Then Rouge flew in and flashed everybody her “I’m Miss Charming” smile. Not long after, Cream and Cheese walked in, looking very nervous and scared about the impending fight that was about to begin. There was utmost silence as Shadow walked in. The fight was about to begin.

Chris watched as Sonic landed yet another kick on Rouge and Tails was blown into a wall by Shadow and knocked out. He cringed. That meant Tails was out. Rouge kicked Knuckles where the sun doesn’t shine and he fell down writhing in agony (well, maybe just pain. Same thing). Sonic glared daggers at Rouge and curled up into ball and sped into her....but Rouge just managed to dodge it. Again, Sonic sped at her and this time, it was a direct hit. Rouge went down, bleeding and had to be carried out by the paramedics. It looked like she was out too. Now only five contestants were left. Shadow, Sonic, Knuckles, Cream and Amy. Amy tried to hit Shadow with her hammer but he blocked it and retaliated by blasting Amy out into the crowd. Ouch. She was out too. Meanwhile, Knuckles was still in pain from Rouge’s kick. Sonic promptly gave him a knock to the head and he fainted from exhaustion and pain. Now it was only Shadow, Sonic and Cream. Now that he’d finished with Amy, Shadow turned on Cream who was trying to stay out of the battle. She screamed and ran out of the stadium, Cheese following close by. Shadow and Sonic. The only two left. Sonic tried the same trick on Shadow as he had done with Rouge but Shadow was much swifter and dodged it by a wide margin. When Sonic tried to attack him again, Shadow was nowhere to be found. At that, Shadow appeared right behind Sonic and gave him a swift kick to the head and leapt away. Sonic saw Chaos swimming in front of him and that was the last thing he saw before the darkness took him over.

When he woke up, he was in some sort of room (well, duh). He saw his friends’ worried faces and immediately sat up. “Hey guys. What happened? Who won? Where am I?”

“Whoa Sonic! I’m glad to see you’ve woken up. Calm down. Here, drink some water and we’ll tell you everything you need to know.” Tails said. Sonic gratefully sipped his water as Tails, Knuckles, Cream and Amy told him what had happened.

“So Shadow kicked me in the head and Doctor Eggman appeared and some weirdo dude just shows up and kicks him away?” Sonic asked. “And where’s Shadow and Rouge?”

“Umm, they’re over there.” Cream pointed towards the corner where they saw Shadow and Rouge healing up. “Rouge’s still out cold from the fight and Shadow’s still weak from fighting with Eggman’s new weapon.”

“Oh.” Sonic said. “I guess that’s fine then. But where are we?”

“You are in my healing lab.” The mysterious man stood at the doorway. Clad in red bandages, only leaving his eyes, mouth and nose visible, he was a strange sight indeed. He nodded at Sonic's confused and stunned look. He glanced over at Shadow and Rouge who were waking up and looking around. They too, were now watching the mysterious red clad man. “Ah Shadow and Rouge. I see you have woken up too.” They nodded, still not trusting him. “Let me introduce myself. My name is DiZ and as for the reason as to why I am here, and why the tournament was held, I will explain it to you now.”

“So I need your help to destroy the Organization XIII.” He finished off.

“Okay, okay. Hang on. There’s these bad guys that are called the Organization XIII and you want us to destroy them or at least stop them from doing whatever they are trying to do?” Sonic asked. DiZ nodded.

“How can they be if they are ‘nobodies’?” Shadow demanded.

“Nobodies are beings whose hearts have been taken by the heartless and when that happened, they had a strong will, so they became a Nobody. The Organisation XIII are Nobodies.” DiZ replied calmly.

“What exactly are Nobodies and Heartless though?” Cream wondered.

“I just explained it. But if you want to know what they actually are.....they are basically beings without a heart. Nobodies only have their soul and mind. They are unable to feel anything or even care the slightest bit. They basically are a “half person”. On the other hand, Heartless only have an instinct. The instinct to take hearts. They don’t have a mind and are only empty incarnations of the person they once were. They can’t feel and they have no memories of their former lives. And talking about heartless, there is this one powerful heartless and it or he, is the only one to have held onto his memories of his former life. His name is Xehanort or the name as he goes by now, Ansem. He is the heartless of the most powerful nobody there ever was and is, Xemnas, the leader of the Organization XIII.”

There was silence as the heroes who fought against Dr. Eggman and his evil plans took all this information in. “They can’t be worse than Eggman, can they?” Amy asked, trembling.

“Actually they are. Much worse. They are sadistic and cruel and will kill whoever is in their path to their goals. Eggman is just an example of an overused fat stamp sporting the word, “Evil”. The Nobodies of Organization XIII all wield deadly weapons as well as having control of certain nobodies and the Heartless.”

“So, do we go alone?” Knuckles asked.

“Actually, you have a couple of people on your side. They are the Keyblade bearers and they are the ones responsible for holding back the Organization for so long. Unfortunately, the Princess of Light, Kairi, and the Keyblade wielder of Light, Sora, have been.....killed. Not turned into Heartless or Nobodies, killed. Only the Keyblade wielder of Darkness, Riku, remains. That is the reason why we need some new heroes and all of you are destined to become them. You have amazing capabilities and attacks and will probably be able to stop the Organization XIII.”

“So where are we to go?” Rouge said.

DiZ smiled. “The World That Never Was.”

“WHAT! How can it be if it never was!” everybody chorused.

DiZ shook his head. “Because it was and is.”

“...”

“So, are you going to go?” There was a pause in which Sonic’s team contemplated this. Sonic glanced at the others and after a brief moment’s hesitation, they nodded.

“Very well.”

Wow! Finished! I don’t think Sora and Kairi would ACTUALLY be killed. I just think that the game hates the Organization and likes the main character too much so I destroyed them :D. The reason I left Riku is because ONE main character had to remain and I decided that Ansem/Xehanort is too cool to die and Riku is part of the Darkness too. Oh yeah, DiZ, if you didn’t already know, is actually Ansem the Wise and Ansem (Heartless) is actually one of his former assistants and his name was formerly Xehanort too. This is kinda crap so blah. Please R&R.
