Chapter 2

Kakashi Pov:

Needless to say, she sure started to act up the moment Itachi was out of sight.

“Stop it!” I shouted, seriously peeved by the time we had reached my apartment building. I started to drag her up the stairs, but found that it was a very awkward challenge.

“Kakashi?” her voice asked hesitantly. I looked down at her, continuing to drag her body up the stairs.

“I-I won’t kick you again,” she promised. She winced as her knees hit another stair. I slowly hoisted her up into my arms again. We continued to climb to the third floor where I entered my apartment, carrying her. Shutting the door with my feet, I laid her down on the couch before locking the door. The lock was, conveniently, located at the top of the door, far out of reach of the girl.

“I don’t believe we have been properly introduced. I am...” I was cut off when she sat up slowly.

“…Hatake Kakashi, the Copy Nin. Age of 32, Jounin level. Been known to wear mask due to insecurity. Has a Sharingan from teammate, named Uchiha Obito, who was killed at age twelve. Only taken on three students: Haruno Sakura, skilled medic who surpassed her teacher, the 5th hokage; Uchiha Sasuke, a heartless bastard whose clan was killed by Itachi; and Uzimaki Naruto, Kyuubi vessel container and soon to be 6th hokage. Usually spotted with a book in hand, books currently written by Jiraya. Father, White Fang, killed himself after being disgraced by saving his teammates…sorry. I didn’t mean to slip up,” she whispered.

I felt myself staring. She knew nearly everything about me. What else did she know? If I could loosen her up for Tsunade, she may forgive me for getting us all into this mess. Of course, if I merely wanted to please Tsunade, all I would have to do would be give her a bottle of sake.

“Yes. You can call me Kakashi, however. Or, if you so desire, you can call me Kakashi-kun. I hope you do not so desire that,” I muttered the last part under my breath. The girl laughed at me slightly.

“Nice to meet you formally, Kakashi-ya,” she said with a small smile.

“What? I don’t seem to remember that being on the list,” I feigned shock. She frowned again and smacked her forehead lightly.

“I always add –ya to the end of names. Ryan got me into it,” she swallowed hard as she said that name. I noticed how it lacked the –ya she had tacked onto the end of my name.

Before I could ask for her full name, there was a brisk knock on my door. I walked over to the door and unlocked it, pulling it open. In rushed Deidara and Itachi. I pulled the door shut behind me.

“We’re sorry for barging on you tonight, Hatake, but we really needed to figure out what exactly happened,” Itachi explained. I walked over to Zenda and sat down next to her. Itachi and Deidara stood in front of us. Deidara, making himself feel right at home, sat down on her other side. I noticed how she visibly tensed.

“I was just getting her comfortable,” I complained.

“Kakashi, we don’t have time to make her comfortable. We are here to extract all of the information out of her in any way we possibly can,” Itachi’s eyes were cold. Zenda burrowed herself deeper into the couch.

“Zenda Zyle, you are going to look up and listen to me. I want to know exactly how you managed to piss off Pein,” Itachi activated his Mangekyou, which thoroughly freaked her out. He had already said that nothing works on her, but he must have used the Mangekyou in the past to hurt her in other ways.

“Did you know that every continent ends with the same letter it begins with?” Zenda asked. Itachi backed off, confused. Zenda used that second to jump up and run for the door. She was already out it before we had a chance to even register what had happened.

“See Hatake! I told you we had to get it out of her immediately!” Itachi poofed out, apparently searching for her.

“Should we help him?” I asked Deidara, who shook his head.

“Wait a minute,” he commanded. I did as he said, looking up when the door creaked. My eyes widened when I saw her walk back in, jumping at the lock frantically as she did so.

I stood up and put the lock in place. Zenda turned around, noticing that I was right next to her. I heard her breath freeze in her throat. She looked up at me, panic stricken. Deidara reached around me and grabbed her, pulling her back to the couch. I followed, taking up my original position.

“Did you do it?” Deidara asked anxiously. She nodded enthusiastically but stopped nearly immediately. She was really weak.

“What are the two of you talking about?” I asked, feeling rather left out. If there was one thing I wasn’t, it was left out.

“Zen-ya here disabled Itachi’s chakra. He will have no choice but to go home and rest to replenish his chakra. Now we can actually talk, yeah,” Deidara said. I felt rather confused.

“Can we start at the beginning?” I asked. Deidara nodded, draping an arm around Zenda. She jumped away, landing…………..right in my lap. She looked up at me, shocked, and tried to scoot over, but Deidara had taken her original spot.

“Sorry but it looks like you’re just going to have to share a seat,” Deidara said smugly. He looked over at me, remembering my question.

“Okay. Zenda Zyle is 23, as she said earlier. Pein brought her to the base when he returned from an American mission. We figured that, since Konan had died, that she was his new toy. We were proven wrong when we realized she could steal our chakra, so to speak. This little brat here could take away our chakra, but never had any of her own. It was like she was constantly hungry but never could eat.

“Itachi was constantly trying to hurt her. I secretly attempted to figure out all I could about her. It only took two weeks after she arrived that we broke up. It was because of her that there is no Akatsuki anymore, really. But, that’s it yeah,” Deidara finished. Zenda was fiddling in my lap, looking as if she wished she were anywhere else.

“So Zen-ya, what did you do to Pein?” Deidara asked curiously. Zenda looked down at her hands.

“I-I don’t know really. All I know was that I was sitting in my room, looking at the group picture we had taken before we broke up, and the next thing I know, Pein was shaking me awake. He gave me a bag and told me he had a valuable mission for me that, if I succeeded, I could get you back,” Zenda whispered.

Before we had a chance to say anything else, two people poofed into the middle of the room. Those two people happened to be Sasuke and Gaara. One look at me, with Zenda on my lap, turned Sasuke’s face bright red. Gaara followed the suit when he saw Deidara’s arm wrapped casually around Zenda’s shoulders.

“We’re sorry if we were interrupting something,” Sasuke cleared his throat, obviously mortified.

“You should have saw them five minutes ago,” Deidara said evilly. I glared at the ninja with my one eye, seriously tempted to unleash my sharingan on him.

“I think Zenda should be getting to bed,” I said quickly, hoping to change the topic. Everyone looked thoroughly amused at my comment. What was it, laugh at Kakashi day? Why the heck wasn’t I informed about this?

I stood up, holding onto Zenda’s arms so I didn’t dump her out onto the floor as I stood. I lead her to the spare room, setting her on the bed. I opened the dresser, pulling out a pair of my usual clothes (sweat pants and a t-shirt with a mask attached). I was about to walk out and leave her to get changed when I noticed a word that was peaking over the top of her collar. The word just so happened to be my name.

“Hey everyone! Come here!” I shouted, moving closer. Everyone who was hear crowded around.

“Does anyone have any idea as to why my name is written on her chest?” I asked, looking around. Even Zenda had no idea what I was talking about. I grabbed onto the collar of her shirt and pulled it down. There, my name and more words were written down.

“Take her shirt off so we can read the message,” Sasuke said eagerly. I looked back at him like he was crazy.

“You want me to remove her shirt, in a room full of guys?” I asked him incredulously. Sasuke clearly did not see the point, as he reached over and pulled her shirt off himself. She was wearing a bra, thank God.

“Kakashi-I figured I’d curse you and use something you would appreciate in the meantime. There is no way to end the curse sooner, unless you were to kill Zenda, but I am sure you would never do something that selfish when Zenda is truly innocent. I want you to know that I am coming for Konoha. The only people who will survive are the cursed. You all who are cursed will be forced to flee for the rest of your days. If you don’t want Zenda, I’m sure I can find some way to dispose of her. Let’s put it this way; if you care about being a true ninja, you would protect her and never let her leave your side. Trust me when I say the moment I sense her away from you, I will come to claim her once more. Would you like to see an innocent girl be repeatedly raped? I didn’t think so.”

I stared at the words for a few minutes. They sounded so unlike Pein. All four of us were gathering around her closely.

“Look at the style of words,” Deidara murmured. It was truly Pein’s style.

“Look how big they are,” Sasuke muttered, pointing at another word.

The door was yanked open. The others spun around, knocking me down on top of the topless girl.

“What the hell are you doing to her?” Shizune’s voice alerted me to danger.

“Shizune, it’s not what you think,” Sasuke started nervously. I jumped up slightly, but Shizune shoved me back down.

“At least have the decency to hide her from the other’s eyes!” she ordered. I nodded, as I didn’t have a choice. She turned to Sasuke.

“ ‘Look how big they are.’ Sasuke! I cannot believe that you would do that, especially since you are married. What is this, Hatake; an ogling session? The poor thing must be terrified. You four are violating her rights! I’m sure if Sakura and Tsunade heard about this, they would kill you!” Shizune finished her rant. I stood up, ignoring her protests.

“Look at these,” I commanded her. She looked at the words, before turning apologetically to Sasuke.

“I am so sorry I misunderstood you. They are big,” Shizune said that last part to herself. That was when Tsunade and Sakura stomped in through the open door. Behind them trailed Naruto.

“Oh. My. God,” Sakura put her hand to her heart in shock. We all looked rather guilty, I admit. Tsunade was about to give a lecture, but spotted the words first. She read them as well.

“Okay, Kakashi, do what Shizune told you to do in the beginning. We will discuss this, but I would rather the poor girl was somewhat covered. Look at how red her face is! No groping or feeling, Hatake! I am warning you…” Tsunade threatened. I nodded and crawled back on top of her. It felt kind of weird, but I was not about to go disobeying the Hokage’s orders.

“New orders: Kakashi, don’t leave her alone. Do not let her out of your sight. Keep her within a few feet of you at all times. This will get out if we loose her, and how will the people react if they hear we let an innocent girl get kidnapped, raped, and killed? No one would trust us. Bring her in in two days like agreed. People, please try to leave them alone. Kakashi will try to help her get comfortable around here. Remember not to tell anyone about the curse. Now, everyone leave. Someone inform Itachi of this. Where’s my damn sake?” she cursed colorfully after her little speech was done.

Slowly, everyone bid us a good night and left. I stood up and grabbed my shirt, pulling it over her head. I looked at her face for the first time to notice how flushed it was. She pulled the mask part over her face, hiding a good part of her face.

“Feeling a little insecure?” I asked her, trying to joke lightly. She nodded quickly. I looked up at the ceiling, pulling her shorts off and putting my sweat pants on her. I made sure that I didn’t peak and made the change as fast as I possibly could. Her face was even brighter by the time I looked up at it.

“Let’s go to bed,” I said, pulling her out of the room she would have slept in before we learned of the note. I pulled her into my own bed, turning off the lights as I did so.

“Kakashi-ya?” her sleepy voice asked. I leaned closer so I could hear her better.

“Yeah Zenda?” I replied. She exhaled shakily, reaching over. Her hands connected with my jawbone. She quickly pulled them away. I pulled her somewhat closer.

“Thank you.”
