A/N: I thought these two would make an excellent crossover ship in that neither of them reallly quite belong where they are, Edward being a vampire and Dawn, the Key. Plus they both sparkle. Edward dazzles. Dawn, glowy energy. So yes. Expect more for these two in the future. :D
A Prophecy Or Something
"It's you," he says one day as they're sitting together on the grass with a picnic spread out before them. "You're the one I've been looking for."
Her heart leaps in her throat and she scrunches up her face in bewilderment. "I…uh…what do you mean?"
Is he yet another of the crazy people recognizing her as the Key? Is he somehow connected to Glory? Is he some other powerful being on a mission to capture her and use her so-called powers?
She had thought that he was just a guy. A vampire guy, sure, but a guy nonetheless. She hadn't thought him capable of hurting her (she knows he cares about her), but what if she was wrong?
He smiles wanly at her. "It's not obvious?"
"I," she tries. "I'm sorry. I don't know what you're saying."
"I think," he tells her, "that this is meant to be. I think it's fate."
"Like a…a prophecy or something?"
"Like… You're the only one I want to spend my life with."
Okay. Option I-didn't-see-that-one-coming is correct, she muses.
"We've only known each other for a month." She pierces him with a look. "And what do you mean by 'the rest of your life'? I'm human. You're a…a vampire. Won't you be, you know, young all of your life? All of my life?"
He shrugs and seems to shrink into himself. He's nervous. "What if there was a way that we could be together forever?"
"You mean, would I let you turn me?"
She doesn't answer his question - how can she? - but instead says, "it feels like we've known each other longer than a month."
"It feels like I've known you for my entire existence," he agrees.
Their eyes connect and for a moment neither of them can breathe. This is right. This is how things are supposed to be.
"Maybe there's something to this fate thing," she smiles before he leans in and captures her lips with his own.
