For hours Ember wonderd if they would ever be happy again. Everything that could possibly go wrong-went wrong, all in one night. Ember had wonderd what had become of Donna, she had not seen her once, since she had returned. Mabey she was abducted? Hopefully Marian knew where Donna had dissapeard to. It would be a shame if they were to never see her again. Marian bobbed back and forth, she couldn't keep her head still when she was sleeping. Once, she had already smashed her face into Ember's back. But, when she did it again she woke up.
"Where are we, Ember"?
"I have no clue. In Sherwood Forest. I know that".Ember was worried about her mare. They had been riding all night and Ember swore that she saw her mare favor her foreleg. Never once has she hurt a horse. In fact, instaed of sleeping like Marian-she decided on a name for the horse. She decided on Majesty. Majesty the majestic white mare. To her, it sounded nice. Marian wrapped her arms around Ember and rested her head on her back. She halted majesty and slid off. "I think we should rest, don't you"? Marian nodded and slid off and laid with her back against a tree trunk.
Ember lay right beside her. "I think the Sheriff like's you, Marian". Marian's eyes got big.
"Don't speak of such nonsense"!She sneered."I will not have you talk about me in such a manor"!
"But, I thought--"
"Silence"Marian sneered once more. Something was wrong with Marian, she was-moody! She was never moody. Ember scooched away from her-best to leave her be.
She's just tired,Ember thought. Could something be bothering Marian? It seemed to Ember that thier long-lasting bond was begining to crumble out from under her. That's all she didn't want-was to loose the only adult love she had. She had no parents, and Marian was her only family left, besides Richard-who was off at war. Even if he wasn't, she wouldn't have time to raise a teenager, especially a feminine one. Ember looked at Marian.
"I'm sorry,Marian I was just speaking my opinion,"She whisperd. Marian returned no answer. It seemed she was really upset that Ember mentioned The Sheriff to her. Especially in that sort of way. Marian let out a deep sigh."You know that I didn't mean anything by it". Marian refused to forgive her so stood up and brushed herself off.
"Let's go"She said.
"Where"?
"I don't know just get me out of 's go see Robin, I'm sure he can help us".Thats all she said to Ember for the rest of the day-not another word, just a nodd or shaking of her head. They rode for half the day before reaching Robin's hidey-hole in the heart of Sherwood. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Robin of Locksley sat on the ground replacing the feathers on one of his arrows, when another arrow was shot and nearly missed his head. What the hell?
"Robin, we've got visitors"!Called his moorish comapian, Azeem from atop of one of the huge had been a long, borning morning of nothing but being lazy. There was no companions of the sheriff to rob, no intruderds to stalk throughout the forest-until now. Robin stood up and ran toward the wall of busches that coverd thier hideout from the world. All he could see was two women riding up on a pure white horse. Oh, women riding up to see me. But, his thoughts changed when he saw who it was.
"Marian"He ran to thier side. Marian looked at him with tired yawned loudly.
"Hello, Robin"She yawned once more.
"Hello, Marian. What brings you here at this hour"?
"We were attacked by Nottingham soilders. They tried to abduct me but, Ember saved me and then they torched my manor"!She sneered.
"We come in peace"Ember butted in. "Marian thought that you could help us"Ember said. She tried to be polite but, she was never was good at it. She despised Robin-didn't trust him, whatsoever. She ratherd Marian fancy The Sheriff, at least he could protect her. But, unfortunatley Marian fancied the lower class people-exactly who Ember was not used to being around.
"Well, you ladies need a place to stay. I think we can squeeze you in"He grinned.
Oh boy, thier going to Squeeze us in.
"Well thank you, dear Robin"Marian said, allowing him to catch her hips as she slid off of Majesty. Ember scowled. If only she could sneek away and tell The Sheriff what Marian was doing. She knew he would never approve of it. Ember tied to Majesty to a tree anf followed Marian around. When they all sat around the campfire for supper, they passed Marian the jug of wine. She refused but when a hand passed it to Ember she decided to try it, when she saw who was handing it to her. It was the cute boy whom she met before, Wulf. The son of Fanny and the big man they called, Little Jhon.
"Thanks"She whisperd as she took the jug and took a big swig.
"Ember.! Are you drinking wine? You put that jug down, right now"!Marian , Ember disobeyed Marian and took another big swig.
"Sorry, my Lady Marian but, that's an order that I can't follow"She said, raising the jug in the air. It was all apart of her plan. To get Robin in so much trouble with Marian that she'd leave him. She threw the jug off into the darkness and belched loudly. She scooched over next to Wulf.
"Hello, cutie, Are you free tonight. I need a big man's company, to escort me to my tree hut"She said, Marian sat across from her, gritting her teeth. Wulf blushed. All the men laughed at his blushing. Ember even heard his mother giggle. She got up and waddled over towards where Majesty was tied. Marian bolted after her.
"What was that? Your going to kill yourself. Ember, you shouldn't be drinking wine, its for adults"She snapped. Ember started to feel queasy. She turned around and in the busch her head was in, she vomited loudly. "Ugh......" Marian said as she reached over and pulled Ember's hair back-like a mother would. She gentley rubbed her back and tried to quiet her. "Shhh...Ember it's ok just throw it up"She whisperd.
Ember-more queasy than ever, wiped her mouth on her sleeve then mounted Majesty.
"Where are you going"?Marian asked.
"For a ride"She sounded so-undrunk to Marian.
"Why do you sound not drunk"?
"Because, My Lady Marian, I never told you that I have been addicted to wine my whole life. The woman who raised me before I was given to you, gave me wine to shut my infant mouth up from crying"Ember snapped. She urged Majesty through the busches then took off in a gallop down the stood there, clueless and royaly pissed at what she just heard. She stomped her foot and waddled back to the campfire to ask Robin if she could borrow a horse.
Ember rode east, to the river that ran through Sherwood. She had decided-not long ago to ride back to the manor and see if she could possibly "retrieve" Marian's horse. If not, she would go and see if she could purchase one somewhere. But, first, she had some business to attend to. Back at the manor, she found the whole place burnt up. Almost half of thier manor was gone. Bt, the half where thier dresses were stored-still existed. She tied majesty to a tree and ventured inside the manor. Em,ber found all of Marian and her dresses still wearable.
"Marian will be gald to have these"She said. "She's probably sick of wearing the same garments".
Ember colected all her and Marian's dresses and tied them behind the saddle that she pucked from behind the manor-in the barn. She searched through some ashes that she found in Marian's room for anything of value-nothing. She sighed as she got up and went to the sitting room. There on Marian's chair-was her favorite cape. She wrapped it around herself and, continued to the next room. Within the three hours she was there, she found barley anything of value. She re-mounted Majesty and began riding back to camp. She hoped that Marian didn't get all worked up about what she did. But, she wasn't welcomed the way she expected when she returned. Marian marched right up to her.
"Where have you been"?
"I went to the manor. Come to find out that not the whole thing burned"She said as she held out the dresses."I found our dresses, figured that you would of wanted them". Marian smiled.
"Oh, I though you went to see the sheriff"She said, acting a bit stranger than ever. Ember became curious about, what Marian and Robin could've done last night. Oh My Lord, Marian you didn't.
"Why would I have gone to do that"?Ember asked-more curious.
"Well, since you said that he liked me....".
"Save it". Ember unsaddled Majesty and walked toward Robin, who was standing approached him and walked right by him. Ember flicked her head at Marian."Which is our hut"?
"The one right above you"Marian said pointing to a well made tree hut-in the tree above her. She put the saddle on a log and climbed up the ladder and enterd the tree hut. It was full of gold and treasure that they must of intercepted from The Sheriff. She was pissed by this fact. And the fact that Robin probably, well-most likley- slept with Marian-while she was away. She was glad that Marian had already taken a nights worth of sleep. She didn't want to see her. All she wanted was her life to go back to normal-before they had met Robin hood. When she could talk to Marian about anything at any given time. But, now she felt as if she had never met the curly-headed Maiden. Ember sat back and wonderd what her life might of been if her mother lived after delivering her. She probably would never had heard of Marian Dubios. And they would live in a huge castle, surounded by gorgeous men. And she would have twelve horses. And she could drink all the wine she wanted. It tasted good on bad days.
She picked up her favorite-bright green dress and stood up. She held it in front of her and whirled around in a circle. Life with marian Dubios was not always easy-but she had to admitt-it was pretty damn fun. She forgot about sleep and changed into her green dress. She searched through the treasure until she found a brush and ran it through her long red ringlets. She looked in the window behind her to see Wulf sitting there.
"How long have you been sitting there"?Ember asked-hoping that he didn't watch her get dressed.
"I just got here"He said, as he jumped off and approached her. He picked up a golden hair-clip from the pile of treasure and presented it to her. "I don't think that a maiden should go un-primped"He said as he gentley coiled one of her ringlets around the end of his finger. "Would you , my Lady Ember, do the pleasure of joining me for supper this evening"?He asked.
"It's only noon, Master Wulf".
"I simply mean at supper time".Ember shrugged. Marian had Robin for a date so, why can't she have a date for a chance.
She offerd him a hand"Master Wulf:Prince of Thieves, I would be delighted"She said.
"Excellent. Supper is normally around six. And...In honour of the birth of my new brother, Father says we shall all dance the night away tonight"He said. Emer was dumb and completley forgot that Fanny deliverd her baby the following evening. Oh, how stupid she felt. Wulf kissed her cheek then took her hand and said"Follow me". He lead her out of the tree hut and onto the bridge that connected the other tree huts with hers.
"Oh, wait Master Wulf, I forgot to put my hair clip in"She shrieked. She ran back in front of the mirror that Robin gave Marian so she could primp herself, and clipped her fluffy bangs back. She rejoned Wulf."um.....how do we get down"?
He put his foot through a rope and held her kicked off and they were flailing on the rope towards thhe ground..in a butterfly sort of way.
"like this"He whisperd. Ember smiled at him. He kissed her forehead and let her go. He grabbed her hand and they started walking around. Marian and Robin noticed the young couple and gasped. Nose in the air, Ember strutted around camp. Wulf went to bathe, because Ember asked him to. She felt proud of herself. He had promised to teach her how to shoot his bow that Robin made him, when he returned. The only thing that was running through her mind, was, Screw Marian Dubios and her curly hair!
That night, after a huge supper of deer meat and cups of wine, Ember and Wulf danced thier tushies away. Though, her arms were tired from shooting bow, Ember still enjoyed every minute of it. Marian scowled whenever she laid eyes on the young, enthustiastic couple. She shouldn't be dating, she's to young. Not caring about what Marian thought, Ember leaned over and planted a steamy kiss on Wulf's soft and silky lips. She could've swore she felt his tounge entwine with hers.
"Ohh, That's it. I'm through with letting this continue"Marian snapped. Marian charged over to them, Wulf dropped Ember on the ground and ran for cover from the curly headed, royaly pissed off, maiden that was stroming towards them-scared. Ember scrambled to get her feet under her again-so she could run for it. Marian grabbed her ankle. "I don't think so".
"Ember, why are you kissing him. Your way to young. Please stop, I don't want you doing something that your going to regret"She pleaded as she calmed down a bit. Ember wriggled free. But, she didn't take off. "Ember, please your going to hurt yourself. Please, for me"?Marian begged. Ember stood-silence. "Ember why are you acting so odd latley. Is it something i've done. Please tell me".
Oh, so she can be the motherly type. Ember couldn't believe that Marian calmed down so fast. Marian took her hands."Please..."?
Ember started to cry. 'I don't want to loose you. But, I don't think that you care about me, anymore. You told me like I am like your daughter. We had a promise, virgin till marriage. I can't believe that you broke it on me. It makes me feel like you don't love me anymore"!
"Honey, what on earth are you talking about. I haven't shared my bed with no one. And, as for loosing me. i'm not going anywhwere"She said as she hugged her. Ember smiled. And the whole, Screw Marian Dubios and her Curly Hair thing, it never was thought of again.
