And once again, I’m sorry about the wait.

“Emerald, Alice wants to go shopping.” Rose was on the phone.

“Fine.” If I didn’t say yes she’d pester me till I gave in, so I might as well. It would probably be quite fun anyway. “When?”

“Al, when do you want to go?”

There was a pause as Alice responded.

“Sure, that’s fine with me. Later today Ok, Em?”

I nodded.

“She says it’s fine. Are you bringing Bella and Nessie?”

Rose had picked me up and was carrying me around after Alice as she picked out another couple of tops to add to the pile in her basket. Bella and Ness had gone to get some lunch (Well, Nessie had) and it was me and Rose following Alice around another shop. As far as I could tell Alice hadn’t bought a single thing for herself, Rose, Bella or Ness yet, just a five year old me.

“What do you think of this?”

It was a blue dress, frilly and summery.

“That’s really nice, Al. Honestly.”

And it was. All the clothes were gorgeous, and it wasn’t that I didn’t like shopping because I did. There was just something wrong.

I was scared of starting school.

Of all the irrational fears I’ve ever had (many) that was one of the most ridiculous. But I was, I was so scared.

“Here, I’ll take her for a bit.” Alice passed the clothes to Rosalie and took me instead.

“I think I’ll look at shoes.” Rosalie said, and headed off across the store. “You’re about a size 10, I think, Em.”

As soon as she was out of earshot Alice spoke to me. “Em, you don’t need to be scared. And don’t look so blank, Jasper’s been picking up of tension from you for days. School’s going to be fine. Do you think this green jumper or this pink one?”

“Green.” I replied. “Are you sure, Al?”

“Yes.” She spoke emphatically. “You don’t even have to worry about biting them because you’re control’s right up there with Edward’s and Emmett’s. It’ll be fine. Are you sure green?”

I wasn’t completely convinced, but I nodded. “Thanks Al. And yes. I’ve got enough pink tops; I don’t want a pink jumper as well.”

Shoe sizes, this is a child 10 and small. I don't know what the sizes are in other countries so I went with what's here.

I’m sorry about the shortness as well.
