Music's In The Air

\I've been watching the anime, and not really reading the manga(I've only seen up to the 168 episode), so I know about Franky and Brook, but not enough to put them in this fan fiction.../

We all know that Luffy wants a musician on board the Going Merry, so the crew heads the city know for having musicians! After running around the city they hear the perfect melody, now if they can find the musician. When they do...well you'll just have to read to find out.

Luffy was staring at the clouds, bored. The ship was oddly quite. Usopp and Chopper were playing some card game, Zolo was working out , Sanji was flirting with Robin, who was reading, and Nami was looking over the maps in the map room. A thought crossed Luffy's mind, his ship needed a musician! After talking to Nami and finding out about Musician Cove (AN: I couldn't think of anything better!), he changed course to Musician Cove, hoping to find a great musician!

Musician Cove wasn't the real name of the city, but the name had been forgotten by most, due to everyone calling it Musician Cove. Any want to be musician would be playing every place they could, and that did mean every were. It was hard to tell whether a song was one musician's or another. With all the music blending, it just sounded like noise.

“We're never going to find a musician! It's impossible to hear one song from another!” complained Nami, who was covering her ears. The group was standing by a man who was singing, off key, to Nami, Robin, anything that had breasts!

“Alas, my love, you do me wrong, To cast me off discourteously. For I have loved you well and long, Delighting in your company,” he was singing, wile attempting to play, what looked like, a violin. Nami saw that most people ignored him, but on girl smiled at him, and dropped a few berri in his “violin” case. She then walked away humming the guys tune, but in key!

“Thank you kind miss!” called the violinist, who still played his violin.

“Do you think she can hear what he's playing?” Usopp asked Zoro, who only shrugged. Most of the rest of the day was spent wondering around listening to the musician, but none were apparently good enough for Luffy.

“I think we should go and rest!” said a tired Nami, who to rest of the crew agreed with. Luffy sighed and was about to agree, when a single melody, with lyrics, came through the air...

“I'll never be, A knight in armor, With a sword in hand, Or a kamikaze fighter, Don't count on me, To storm the barricade, Or take a stand, Or hold my ground, You'll never see, Any scars or wounds, I won't walk on clouds, I won't walk on water! I am no prince, I am no saint, I am not anyone's wildest dream, But i can stand behind, And be someone to fall back on!” sang the voice. Luffy began to look around, trying to find who the voice belong to.

“It's that away!”shouted Luffy, before dashing off in the direction of the voice.

“Some comedy, You're bruised, And beaten down, And I'm the one, Who's lookin' for a favor! Still honestly, You won't believe me, But the things I have, Are the things you need, You look at me, Like i don't make sense, Like a waste of time, Like it serves no purpose! Well, I am no prince, I am no saint, And if that's, What you believe you need, You're wrong, You don't need much, You need someone, To fall back on,” the voice kept singing. Luffy, along with the rest of the crew, were weaving around buildings, trying to find the singer.

“And I'll be that, I'll take your side, If I'm the only one, I'm used to that, I've been around, I'd rather be, The half of us, The least of you, The best of me, And I'll be your prince, I'll be your saint, I will go marching through fences in your name! I will i swear! Someone to fall back on!” the voice finished the lyrics, and melody was beginning to fade. When the music had faded, the group was by a bar/restaurant called the Music Note.

“How are we going to find that musician?” complained Luffy. The crew had headed into Music Note, and Luffy was pouting at losing the musician.

“Hey there!” said a waitress, “Anything I can get you?”

“We're looking for a musician, and we heard the right one, but the song ended before we could find them,” said Robin.

“Oh you must mean, Elphie!” said the waitress, smiling, “That girl always plays at night! She says that playing during the day would only drown her! And of course it's against the law to play after hours, unless you have a permit, and that takes a year to get, but she still played at night! How she didn't get a fine or get arrested, I don't know! Oh and speak of the devil and there she is!”

“Nice to see you, too, Aim,” said the voice.

“Isn't that the girl who gave money to that violist?” whispered Chopper. Elphie was an average height, her hair was a darkish brown, her eyes resembled sea colored crystals. She was in black pants, and a white t-shirt, and over her shirt was a black jacket. Oh her back was a guitar

“Hey do you have any coffee beans, Java is throwing a tantrum...again,” she said.

“Isn't he getting old for that?” asked Aim, heading behind the counter.

“He's only like two thousand years old, that's like a one year old for us!” said Elphie.

“Elphaba! Since when are you an expert, on what ever Java is?” asked Aim.

“He's been in my family for years, you began to learn things, Aimee,” said Elphaba.

“Okay. How will you be paying for that?” asked Aimee, pointing at a 20lb bag of coffee beans.

“A song?” offered Elphaba.

“Okay, sing!” said Aimee, looking over at the crew smiling. Elphaba smiled and headed to the stage at the center front of the bar/restaurant.

“This song is called Thinking of You. I hope you like it,” said Elphaba, as she took her guitar out. She cleared her throat and began to sing...

Comparisons are easily done

The entire crew was memorized be her voice, as where to others in the room. Couples where also beginning to dancing. Elphaba smiled as the couples began to dance.

“She's going to join our crew!” declared Luffy, as the song ended. The room filled with claps, and Elphaba put her guitar away. Elphaba headed to the counter, smiling.

“Can I have the coffee beans?” she asked Aimee. Aimee handed her the coffee beans, and Elphaba headed out the door...

Me: STOP! You both can sit there, it fits two!

Usopp: But I wanted to sit there, too!
