Author's Note: Agh, another week of school. Weekends go by too fast.

Raito stands in front of a broken bathroom mirror.

The shards are laying in the basin, splattered with tiny drops of blood and Raito can hear Ryuuk’s heavy breathing behind him. In what is left of the mirror, he can see shards of himself - an eye, half his cheek, the corner of a pair of coral lips.

He can see shards of a shinigami as well, one chartreuse eye, unblinking, watching with that permanent grin on his face. Raito says aloud, “You’re ugly,” and he says it to Ryuuk.

When he walks away, his hands still bleeding from where he broke the glass, Ryuuk’s left wondering why he would call himself ugly.
