Chapter 1: The Truth?

“Yes… Of course, I understand…Fine… We’ll fetch him at the train station tomorrow… That early? … Of course… Yes… Goodbye.” Rosette Christopher, a young woman with blonde hair and bright blue eyes, looked up from her magazine and over at her boyfriend, Chrono Sinner, a purple-haired young man with amber eyes, as he hung up the phone and sighed lowly. Rosette was in the start of her twenties, while he was in the middle of them.

“What’s wrong Chrono? Who were you talking to? You don’t seem too happy…” she said. She didn’t like it when he was that way, since he was always happy, and overly protective, by the way.

“It’s just… We’d better make a guest room ready, my brother is coming tomorrow and staying for a few months…” said Chrono lowly, looking out the window.

“…Your brother?” Rosette stood up and walked to stand next to him. “Why have you never told that you had a brother? What’s going on? Chrono? What have happened?” Didn’t he want her to know him? Why did he look so sad and annoyed?

“Because…” Chrono sighed deeply “Because of something that happened when we were fifteen. Our parents were divorced, and my brother, Aion, lived with our mother. They were somewhere with some of our mother’s friends, and should have met our father and me later that day. They never appeared… A week later, Aion appeared at some police station, told that all the others had been killed and burned…Told about a place with lots of murders, like slaughters… They found the place, but no sign of people being there the last many years. The police said that… Aion was insane… That he probably had killed them himself… However, they couldn’t prove it… So they meant he should be send to Psychiatric Hospital, and they said they knew a place he would fit in, where he could get help… He has been there since then. The nurse in the phone told that he’s worse than ever, being sick… Afraid of everyone… They want him to be here a few months, to see if it’ll help him” explained the purple-haired, dropping into a chair and massaging his temples, sighing lowly.

“… I see… But… Do you really think he did it? I mean… Well, I don’t know anything about him… But… Why would he do such a thing? What would his reason be?” asked Rosette, sitting down in his lap.

“… I don’t think he did it… He could have some weird ideas sometimes, but nothing like that. I refuse to believe he’s a murderer… I just can’t believe in his story either, so… I don’t know.” answered Chrono, wrapping his arms around his girlfriend, getting her to lean back against him, and rested his head against hers. Rosette just nodded slowly and began stroking his hair.

Rosette and Chrono stood down at the train station the next morning, waiting for the train to arrive. They watched as the train came closer, slowing down before stopping completely. They saw a few nurses… And a few cops… Step out of the train. In between them was a white-haired man with supposed dark skin. His bangs were hiding his face and he was in handcuffs..?! Rosette blinked, that couldn’t be them, then he wouldn’t be in handcuffs… She looked up at Chrono, he looked angry… Was it him then?

One of the nurses walked up to them “Are you Chrono Sinner?” she asked, Chrono nodded, his eyes studying the blonde nurse carefully “My name is Judy Tate, I’ve been taking care of your brother, Aion Sinner, the last few years. I, another nurse and one of the policemen will come with you to your home and assists you and take care of your brother in the next few months while he’s staying at you.” She said. Rosette dropped her jaw, wasn’t it supposed to only be Aion that should come?

Chrono narrowed his eyes and fought back a snarl. “No.”

“Excuse me? Didn’t you agree to have him living by you the next few months?” asked the nurse, looking up at Chrono with her slightly narrowed eyes.

“Oh, I did agree to have Aion living by us, in fact, I only agreed to have Aion living by us the next few months. Only. Him. This means all of you stay away… AND GET THE DAMN HANDCUFFS OFF HIM. NOW!” roared Chrono, feeling the rage build inside of him rapidly. How dared they put his brother in handcuffs?! Was he prisoner or patient, or what!? If there was going to be problems with Aion, he would take care of them himself. Rosette looked surprised at him; the nurse looked shocked and stepped backwards.

The cops blinked, before one of them released the white-haired male whom stood between them, in these grey clothes from the hospital, he reminded more of a prisoner than a patient! In the blink of an eye, Aion was out between them and behind Chrono, having a tight hold on the back of the purple-haired’s shirt. He was clinging to Chrono, as if his life was depending on it… Chrono growled deeper than Rosette ever had heard, and looked angrier than she ever had seen… She didn’t blame him. Aion looked horrible as far as they could see.

“None of you, and I mean it, none of you are coming with us, or anywhere near us. All of you are staying far away. You called and asked me if Aion could stay by us in a few months, to see if it would help him, then none of you are coming. Or else it doesn’t matter at all” said Chrono, as he reached his arms behind him and around Aion in a protecting manner. He didn’t keep his snarling back this time.

Judy protested, but the cops just turned around and walked back into the train, the nurses forced to follow, as they could do nothing else. Chrono turned around, before turning his brother around, leading him away, with Rosette right at their heels. The whole way back, Chrono was staring emotionlessly ahead of them, while Aion was clinging to him, his bangs still hiding his face… He looked so… Afraid.

--

Back at the house, Rosette watched as Chrono moved into the living room, and gently pushed Aion onto the couch. Those white bangs kept hiding his face. She just stood in the doorway, watching as Chrono got this grey… Jacket off Aion and threw it across the room. Then he opened the buttons of the grey shirt and tried to get it off Aion… It took a little while. Rosette’s hands flew to her mouth and she gasped as she saw all those small wounds that were all over Aion’s chest, back and arms.

“Wh-what have happened?” stuttered Rosette, making her way over to them. All those small wounds… All of them were infected, and the causes of why Chrono didn’t have ease with getting the shirt off him.

“… He should have been out of that place years ago…” Chrono said with a weak voice, looking worried at his brother. What had they done to him?! “Please Aion…Talk”

Aion lifted his head a bit, his violet eyes seen through his white bangs. They were teary. “…What did I do to deserve this..?” his voice was hoarse. Had he been screaming, or just hadn’t used his voice? Chrono looked at him sadly and moved him into the bathroom; Rosette followed and treated the infected wounds once they were out there. None of the wounds needed to be sewn though. Aion was silent, his bangs hiding his face yet again. His skin was tensing at every touch, and a weak whimper escaped his throat each time it hurt for him.

Once done with the treating and bandaging what needed, Rosette found a black shirt and a white pair of pants in Chrono’s closet, which was given to Aion. While she searched for the clothes, she thought about the white-haired man. He had infected wounds, hoarse voice, fever, a cold, was weak and looked anorexic. Where the hell had he been? Chrono had been told people weren’t allowed to visit this so called hospital, that Aion had been at. Now they knew why… And they knew why those nurses were supposed to come to ‘take care’ of him.

Rosette sat in the living room, reading a book. Every once in a while she looked up and over at the couch where Aion was sleeping beneath two blankets. He hadn’t said anything since his question. He had looked so tired, and had fallen asleep, if not unconscious, as soon as they had got him to lie down on the couch. She turned her gaze to look at the door to the kitchen, where the sound of Chrono cooking was heard. She sighed softly.

Chrono sighed lowly, leaning against the wall in the kitchen. What the hell had they done to his brother?! Chrono was happy that Rosette was there. He knew she would be a great help for him and especially for Aion now. Maybe she had temper, but she was so caring in the end that it was scary! He smiled weakly, and then turned back to cooking.

Aion was lying on his side, his back facing the blonde beauty. Beads of sweat were rolling across his face, and sweat was covering his whole body beneath the blankets and his clothes. However, fever and cold wasn’t the reason of this. A nightmare of the past was the source of it.

-Dream Sequence-

A fifteen-year-old boy was handcuffed to a chair, by wrists and ankles. His white hair had taken a red and grey color, his violet eyes tried desperately to find anything of life in the darkness of the room. He had seen it. All of it. Seen how his mother and her friends had been tortured to death. And in the women’s case, being raped before that. He was the only one alive of them, and he was in pain… Feeling a fear that he had never dreamt of he would feel. He had seen things he had never imagined he would.

Steps. He heard steps coming towards the room, watched with fearing eyes as the door opened and a man in slaughter clothes stepped into the room. The man grinned evilly at the poor boy, switching the light on and closing the door behind him. He walked to a long table, and picked up a drill, then walked towards the panicking teen that screamed his lungs out in fear, only to scream even louder in pain, as the drill began going through his flesh and muscles.

-End of Dream Sequence-

“AION!” Rosette shook the white-haired man. He had begun tossing, turning and whimpering in his sleep. As she screamed out his name for the second time, along with Chrono came running to them, Aion flew screaming off the couch and into a corner, shocking both Rosette and Chrono.

Aion shook violently, his eyes wide with fear. He had had a nightmare again, and the nurses had woke him up, which meant they were going to tie him to the bed again. He didn’t want that, the leather strops were way too tight… He could barely breathe, since they always decided to tie his neck down too… Was it even leather? It always felt like plastic or something… He couldn’t even plead them to stop, cause then they would just force the cloth into his mouth again… He didn’t want that! Aion curled into a ball, hugging his knees tightly into his chest and rocked back and forth. His body gave a light jolt and his head jerked upwards as a hand was placed on his arm. Two persons were kneeling in front of him… They weren’t nurses, they were close enough for his short-sighted vision to see… It was Chrono and…Rosette, right? … It was safety…

Chrono wrapped his arms around his whimpering brother, as the white-haired male pressed himself against him. It was clear that Aion had forgotten he had come to them… He was like a scared child… What the HELL had that fucking so-called hospital done to him?!
