I own nothing you recognize!

“Oi! Caracella! You wanna go and find a broom closet or an empty classroom?” That was the first thing I hear from someone other than my two best friends on a Thursday morning. My best friend Lidia spins around in search for the cat caller.

“Go to hell, Black. We really don’t need to hear you yelling things like that. Especially when there are first and second years around.” Lidia says in a prim tone. She knows how I feel with a stalker, seeing as she has her own parasite to deal with. Ever since she arrived at the school one year ago, she has been pursued by Sirius Black, the best friend of my own personal stalker.

“Come on sweetheart, you’ve been waiting all your life for this.” Black scoffs.

Lidia tosses her head in the opposite direction with her nose in the air, putting on her usual act. Emmeline, my other best friend, copies Lidia mockingly a few steps back. Lidia turns back and catches this display out of the corner of her eye and glares at Emmeline. They pretty much mutually despise one another. I don’t know why, but they do.

Emmeline and Lidia are opposites of each other. Emmeline is tall and curvy with glasses and incredibly straight dirty blonde hair, and Lidia is short, with dark brown hair that is very wavy; she is definitely not curvy. Emmeline is the sort of girl who is so very focused on her school work and writing poetry whereas Lidia is happier flying through the air on her broomstick as she is a very good Quidditch player.

Emmeline is very proper with her pronunciation and grammar; that’s probably one of the reasons she and Lidia do not get along. Lidia is Australian and so has a strong accent and a tendency to use slang and her own particular sort of pronunciation. For example: the word “you”. We say it as “uu” in the long way but Lidia says “uus” with an ‘s’ attached. I’m fine with it--it’s just that Emmeline is irritated by it. Both of them have similar faults, though. Emmeline is very quick to point the finger and Lidia is both too proud and incredibly short fused. So I’m guessing that today, Emmeline isn’t going to be spoken to no matter what.

I turn to them, and reproach them, “Come on, stop acting so childish guys, it’s not the right time.”

All I get in response from both of them is a raised eyebrow each. I damn them and their perfect eyebrows. Mine are shapeless and I can’t arch them up like they can.

“EVANS! WAIT UP!” I hear the voice that is the bane of my existence at Hogwarts, the voice of James Potter, the aforementioned personal stalker. Upon hearing his voice, I grab Emmeline and Lidia’s wrists and run to the Great Hall, moving to the Gryffindor table as fast as I possibly can while dragging my friends with me. We push some other people out of the way and sit down as fast as possible.

“Come on Lily, just talk to him! You know, it’ll be great! You know, he isn’t that bad, I mean he is my Quidditch captain; he’s nice at training.” Lidia tries to say convincingly. It just won’t work for me. Ever.

Emmeline looks down the table and starts to smile in a dreamy way. Both Lidia and I shake our heads at the girl sitting with us. Emmeline and Lidia have one thing in common: they can both be very easily infatuated. Lidia is like that with a Ravenclaw called Eddie, she was just blown away by him. I think she likes him because he’s from New Zealand, which is near Australia and she likes his accent.

She and Eddie have this infatuation with each other just like Emmeline and Remus. Emmeline was looking down the table at Remus. I feel really left out because in truth I really don’t like anyone, I’m liked by James Potter and Severus Snape, both are people I want to forget existed.

The day was off to a normal start by our books, it was probably better than normal considering Potter and Black weren’t sitting with us. Or near us for that matter. This was highly unusual.

“Hey, do you know what classes we have today?” Lidia said in a very fast voice for her, she didn’t sound like she normally did, Emmeline cringed with the mention of that word.

Suddenly there was a hand on her shoulder. I swear that we all jump at the same time. Lidia spun around so fast--as did we and we see right in front of us, who but Eddie Reyne from Ravenclaw. He is tall, blond and green eyed. He is rather good looking and he has a nice not too-tanned tan; he is also quite smart.

“Hey.” He says rather quietly, mainly to Lidia who has blushed red.

“Hi!” she says, with a sort of panicked excitement that is never in her voice.

“Um, can I borrow your quill?” Eddie says sort of nervous. Emmeline and I caught each other’s eye and she rolled her eyes as I smiled.

Lidia turned even more red after the question. She spun around on her place on the bench and bent over her bag, getting her quill. .

“Thanks.” He mumbles before walking away very quickly. Lidia is still very pink and is breathing fast.

This infatuation is going places. A lot of places. Emmeline is smirking and laughing quietly while Lidia is smiling and looking awkward. We walk off to our first class which is Charms, a good chance for me and Emmeline to think of what Lidia will do next, of course Emmeline is going to be hoping that she embarrasses herself and I will be wanting the best for Lidia.

I do hope you liked the first chapter, it has been edited again. So please review. Reviews are nice. Dedicated to the memory of Jen and Anna. R.I.P.
