Hello, everyone! I'm Red Rae Rae, and I just wanted to bring you greetings before you dive right into my story and let you know a little bit about me. I'm no stranger to Fanfiction, neither am I a stranger to the Fruits Basket section. I have written 2 other Furuba stories, as well as 1 in Newsies (musical), 1 in High School Musical (obviously another musical, LOL), 1 in Fantastic 4 (movie), and I just finished 1 in Chronicles of Narnia (movies/books). If any of those other sections interest you, I'd love it if you'd check them out as well. Also, if you enjoy this story and would like to read more of my Furuba works, I would absolutely love that as well! I LOVE reviews, and I can't stress enough how much they help/encourage me in my writing, so if you just want to drop a small review and let me know what you're thinking so far, that would be wonderful! The more reviews, the more I feel like this story is actually being read and will want to quickly write more and more chappies. So please, do read and review! I hope you enjoy my little tribute to Fruits Basket, my favorite anime in the entire world! With that said, I'll just let you read for yourself. Enjoy, and don't forget to review!

Chapter 1
“Dammit, Momiji! Are you watching that again?” Kyo cried, walking into the sitting room only to see Momiji, Tohru, Kisa, and Hiro sitting on the floor in front of a small television, Yuki seated at the table behind them. Kisa sat in Tohru’s lap in complete bliss; Hiro sat stiffly beside her, pure annoyance on his face.
“Kisa and Hiro just got here and they haven’t seen it yet,” Momiji explained, turning his head from the television set to look up at Kyo standing in the doorway.
“They went to go see the freakin’ play!” he cried.
“Oh, come on, Kyo; I have to give it-” He broke off suddenly, glancing at Tohru nervously. Kyo just stared at him confusedly but he didn’t say anything more; the room grew into an icy silence except for the noise of “Sorta Cinderella” blaring from the TV. All eyes returned to the screen, even Kyo’s. It wasn’t just the fact that this play was one of the most embarrassing moments of his life but also that he was being constantly reminded of Tohru’s words that day. Here it came now. He wanted to turn his head, it replayed over and over in his head enough as it was, but he couldn’t.
“But that would make me…very…” the Tohru on the television stuttered. She then gasped, hand over her mouth. He could move his head now and did.
“I can’t get any peace in my own house,” he complained with a frustrated sigh.
“Correction – my house,” Shigure said, jutting his head out of his office further down the hall. Kyo decided it wasn’t worth a fight; Shigure was just an idiot. He rolled his eyes and walked out of the room.
“You’ll hurt your eyes sitting so close to the TV, you know,” Yuki said softly, not looking up from his cup of tea.
“Well, then, we should scoot back,” Tohru decided as they slid back about a foot, Hiro rolling his eyes all the while.
“My eyes will be fine,” he muttered in annoyance.
“All the same, Hiro, better safe than sorry,” Tohru said.
“Are you saying that I don’t know what will and won’t hurt my own eyes?” Hiro asked, shooting a glare her direction.
“N-no, of course not,” she said softly.
“Stop being so mean, Hiro,” Momiji reprimanded, leaning forward to look at Hiro over Tohru and Kisa.
“It’s all right, Momiji,” Tohru said just as softly, just as tenderly, putting her hand on the boy’s back reassuringly as he looked up at her with a soft smile. She really was too good to be true.
“Kyo, my love!” came a cry from outside, but not for long. The door flew open to reveal Kagura’s bright smile mixed with overflowing joy and determination. She rushed into the room, excited. “Tohru!” She knelt quickly beside the girl since Kisa was seated upon her legs. She moved her face close to Tohru’s. “Where’s Kyo? He is here, isn’t he?”
“Yes, Kagura, he’s-” Tohru started as the door to the hall opened once again.
“Kyo!” Kagura shouted, leaping up from the floor behind Tohru and crossing the room in one bound. Kyo’s eyes grew ten times wider and he immediately slammed the door shut. “K-Kyo!” Kagura struggled to pry the door open but to no avail.
“Kyo, you’re not planning on forcing her to destroy my house again, are you?” Shigure asked, head appearing from behind his door again. Before he could reply Kagura’s arm shot through the thin paper door. “That would be a ‘yes’.” Shigure closed his eyes as if he were in pain.
“Kyo, open the door,” Kagura threatened, grabbing his shirt by the collar. At this point there was nothing more he could do; he opened the door reluctantly as Kagura’s arms enveloped him instantly. “Kyo.” He grew stiffer than a board but stood there all the same as she nuzzled her face deep into his shirt and chest. Tohru, watching the whole scene, smiled sweetly.
Nothing had changed since their last “date” when she had poured out her heart to him, and he now knew it never would. He was stuck in her never-ceasing, over-flowing love, and he would constantly be attempting to escape unsuccessfully; such was their “relationship,” if you could call it that. It wasn’t nothing; it had to be something since she really did love him. She loved him. It didn’t bother him anymore, and surprisingly it gave him worth knowing that even if her love was the last thing he wanted she still loved him and would never give up. For some reason now he didn’t want her to give up; no matter how much it annoyed him, no matter how much he hated her embrace, somewhere deep down inside his soul he needed it. He needed her. Of course right now that didn’t matter; she was currently about to cut his circulation off.
“Kagura, get off of me!” He wriggled free from her tight grasp forcibly. “What the hell are you doing here anyway?”
“Yes, Kagura, what brings you here?” Yuki asked as she whipped around to look at him sitting peacefully behind her with a cup of tea in his hands, steam rising from it gently.
“Why wouldn’t I want to see my love in his spectacular performance as Prince Charming?” Kagura retorted, latching onto Kyo’s arm.
“Oh, please, you didn’t come to see that,” he said in utter annoyance, struggling to pull his arm away.
“We were just watching it, Kagura,” Tohru said as the boar’s face immediately brightened and in the blink of an eye she was kneeling beside Tohru.
“Tohru-” Kyo protested.
“Here, we’ll restart it,” Momiji offered.
“Listen, you little runt-” Kyo started, grabbing Momiji by the shirt.
“Silly, quit picking on Momiji and come sit with me,” Kagura said, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him to the ground beside her. “It’s going to be so wonderful; they couldn’t have chosen a better role for you, darling.” She rubbed her cheek against the top of his head.
“Oh, yes, Kyo did magnificently,” Tohru agreed.
“It’s horrible!” Kyo shouted.
“It is rather embarrassing, Kagura,” Yuki added.
“See? Even that damn rat agrees with me!” Kyo cried.
“I don’t care what Yuki says; he’s probably just jealous that he didn’t get to be Prince Charming. I am surprised, though, that you didn’t tell your own girlfriend; I had to hear from Momiji,” Kagura said.
“Momiji,” Kyo growled angrily, head instantly turning to look at the blonde brat to his right. Momiji simply grinned.
“S-sorry, Kyo,” he shrugged.
“Come see us again soon,” Tohru said, walking to the door with Kagura.
“Or not,” Kyo added softly.
“What was that, my love?” Kagura demanded, anger burning in her eyes as she turned from Tohru to Kyo.
“I said don’t come back!” he shouted.
“Kyo, you’re so mean; you have no love! Don’t you understand how much I love you?” she cried, punching him repeatedly in the face until his nose began bleeding. “Oh, my poor Kyo, you’re hurt!” She pulled his head into her chest comfortingly as he struggled to break free, finally squeezing his head out of her tight embrace.
“Dammit, Kagura,” he sighed, wiping his nose with his sleeve and rushing off into the house after giving her a look of disgust.
“Oh, Kyo,” she whimpered.
“It’s all right, Kagura,” Tohru said, putting a hand on her back.
“Tohru, you know about Kyo, don’t you?” she said softly, turning around to face her, eyes piercing into Tohru’s. She had seen the moment which haunted Kyo and had felt him tense up even more than usual. She knew Tohru knew something. The pretty brunette nodded dejectedly; she hadn’t wanted anyone to know. “Who told you?”
“Akito,” Tohru replied. Kagura looked at her, shocked. Tohru again nodded.
“Don’t tell him,” she said finally. “Well, buh-bye!” She waved cheerfully at the girl and skipped off happily.
“Well, Tohru, I’d better be going too,” Momiji said, popping up behind her. She whipped around in a tizzy, completely startled.
“M-M-Momiji!” she exclaimed.
“I’ve gotta get this to Kureno, right?” he said, holding up the DVD in his hand.
“Momiji, I don’t want you to get in trouble on my account,” she said worriedly.
“Don’t worry, Tohru; I’ll be careful,” he promised with his sweet smile.
