CHAPTER 1
PROLOGUE
January, 2001
"So, are you going to the concert with anyone? Not that it matters to me... Just wondering..."
"No, I wanna stay free in case Matt's available afterwards, ah ha ha..."
"WHAAAAAAT?!"
Takato Matsuki's mouth dropped open and the saltine crackers that had been inside came tumbling out and landed on the floor as he gawked at the screen. "What? NO WAY! That's impossible!!!"
(RIIIIING)
"Takato, it's for you!"
"Hello?"
"Takato, it's Kazu. Did you just see what I think I saw?!"
"Oh, yeah. This is terrible..."
"Takato! Kazu! You guys saw it too?"
"Kenta? Oh, you've made a conference call."
"This is just awful! What were those animators thinking?!"
"Yeah, that isn't what happens! I've got the mangas to prove it!"
"Takato, did you see what just happened?!"
"Jeri? You're on, too? Yeah, I saw it..."
"(Sniffle) Oh, it's just awful! How could they do that?!"

"What the F---?!"
Ruki "Rika" Nokida slammed her deck of cards down on the table and stared at the screen, her cold eyes narrowing to an even colder look. Rika didn't usually let emotions overcome her, but this was an interesting case. Blind rage replaced her usually cool demeanor.
"How DARE you, you lousy little wench!!!" Rika yelled angrily, hurling the remote through the TV screen and getting up to go outside.
"(Sigh) That's the third TV Rika's done that to," Rika's grandmother muttered worriedly as she watched the tomboyish girl stalk off down the street.

"What?..."
Lee "Henry" Jeynra put his Game Boy down for a second and looked up at the screen, his eyes growing upset by what he saw.
"Henwi, why'd she do dat?" Susie, Henry's little sister, asked as she slapped a new hat on her "Princess Pretty-Pants" doll.
"I don't know, Susie..." Henry sighed angrily. "And I hope that wasn't intentional."

"WHAT?! This cannot be!"
A heavy-set, bespectacled, unshaven man shut off his TV and ran to his computer to type up a word processing document. "This shouldn't have happened. I'm gonna write to make sure it doesn't!"

DAVIS: Woah! Intense beginning! I wonder what's gonna happen next? Stay tuned for the next Digimon; DigitalACK!!! (THUMP)
