A/N: Oh Lord, this took forever for me to be happy with it. I hope you are as well!

This was inspired by the song that will not get out of my head, written by the band that will not get out of my head.

Home – Depeche Mode
The heat and the sickliest sweet smelling sheets
That cling to the backs of my knees and my feet
Well I'm drowning in time to a desperate beat

Home at last.

Brennan's foot hit the soft carpet in her bedroom, then she wheeled to the left, into the bathroom.

As she stripped off her bloody clothes, her wandering eyes darted to the clock, which revealed that it was 3:38 AM. She had been wearing his blood for over eight hours, and she suspected it wouldn't come off with a simple shower.

She stepped into the tub, rolled the knob to the highest heat, grabbed a loofah, and dispensed cool lavender body wash onto it. Her upper lip curled slightly when the searing water pelted her skin at first, but otherwise she ignored the burning sensation. She closed her eyes and scrubbed herself clean of her partner's blood, or at least as clean as one shower could get her. She knew well that, if subjected to a UV light, his blood would still be all over her.

Her lids pulled back over her eyes, so that she could view the red stains flowing down the drain.

Instead, she viewed the red not running through the little holes, but instead spurting from the showerhead in a torrent of crimson blood. It was thick and hot, and she smelt and tasted the metallic odour of the thick liquid. In a panic, she pressed herself against the tiled wall and shut her eyes, a wail escaping her lips. Her reddened figure slumped to the floor of the shower, trying to avoid the blood but actually covering herself further in the terrible fluid.

She doesn't know how long she sat there crying, but when she opened her eyes, the water was lukewarm, getting colder by the second and she had goosebumps all over her skin. She reached up and pulled the knob into the OFF position, then wiped at her face. Black mascara streaks and clear water, not blood, covered her hand. Her face felt hot and febrile, despite the cold water. Body shaking, she stood and pulled a towel around her naked, shivering body. She was cold for those two weeks.
