Lila the Cat sat at her computer screen, staring blankly, her deep blue eyes strained by the constant light. Her purple fingers hovered over the keyboard, and she struggled to think of what to type. Exhausted, she fell asleep at her desk.
When she woke, about five minutes later, she reread what she had written so far about her hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, his friends, and their adventures. She then realised that the plot was nonexistent, the characters were OOC, and her descriptive writing... Well, it lacked description.
She pondered for a moment what to do, and leant back on her chair. In doing so, she accidentally kicked her feline Chao, who had taken to sleeping under her desk, and as she bent down to apologise and stroke him, she caught sight of her schoolbag.
She hadn’t done her Chemistry or Maths homework for the past four weeks, and she had no idea last time she’d given in German. An open email from her friend Chloe the Cat read:
‘ha
ha
ha
not funny ¬_¬
kk, hows you doin with the RS??????????’
She’d emailed back ‘Nearly done! You?’ but this was, in fact, a lie. The RS Coursework draft was due in two days, and she’d only written a few weak lines. She really needed to get it done.
A new email came through- from someone who read her fanfiction. It was asking her to update a story of hers quickly. She rubbed her head in anguish, and looked back at her schoolbag in guilt.
It was then she decided. She, as a writer, was going on hiatus.
She wasn’t sure how long it would be before she returned to her stories; only that she needed to sort her life out. Maybe she would update every so often, and maybe she’d give reviews to her friends if they wrote something, but, for now, she was going on strike.
Hopefully, people would notice her absence and pine after that darned second chapter, but hopefully not for too long before they realised it was no use PMing her about them, because she wasn’t going to let fanfiction get in the way of the real world any longer. She would miss the kind reviews and good friends, but she had to go.
Starting Thursday, the fifth of February 2009, Lila the Cat was temporarily going out of business.
A/N: Yep, I’m leaving for a while. Just until I get my homework and Coursework back on track.
My Big/Rouge Christmas story may be updated soon, but apart from that, it’ll probably be a long time.
I’m sorry to leave you all, and I know I have so many fics to update, but there’s so much pressure on me right now that it’s just impossible. As to which I’ll be updating first when I do officially return, that’s still in the knotted mass that is my brain. I’ll sort out which fics are my and my readers’ priorities, and aim to get them done first. I hope you’llforgive me for leaving you in the lurch, and remember, I’m not officially leaving, so I won’t say goodbye, merely, TTFN.
