My first sonnet. The stressed/unstressed thing gets a little funky here and there… but so did Shakespeare’s syllables, so I excuse myself. :D

..:Body vs. Beauty:..

The color of her eyes is not what holds;

The shape of her lips isn’t why I care;

The feel of her hand doesn’t my heart mold;

Nor the silken shine of her dark brown hair.

The body is lovely, I say no lies—

But the Soul inside is what my soul grips.

Because of the silver I love the eyes.

Her words bring fascination to the lips.

Because of all she does I bless the hands.

Her concern brings the hair its brilliant shine.

I am almost glad that they took our lands,

Or else I couldn’t plan to make her mine.

Melanie is as pretty as a dove,

But Wanderer is the girl that I love.
