Yes, I realize it's shorter than my last story but I haven't had the time. And it's not about Betty! You can probably tell if you are a fan. I just happen to love her whole storyline, however bad it may be. I am over exaggerating the actual state of the relationship for artistic effect but I just felt like writing a sad story. :) Review are always loved, more than views itself. I hope you enjoy! Oh, and suggestions for the next character to write about are much needed.
Her reflection shined back in the mirror. It disgusted her. Her hair was a mess of red, tangled and scratched out. The blood dried below her nose, a brown crusty substance. Her split lip swelled, leaving it disfigured. Her face was masked in bruises, showcasing the cruel facade of her engagement. She wanted to break down and cry, up against the wall in the office bathroom. She couldn't stay in for long. He stood in the other room, fixing up his clothes and smoothing down his hair. She wanted to vomit at the thought. “He's brushing this off.” She whispered, choking back a sob. Their encounters, as he called them, had never been physically violent, although they drained her emotionally.
She decided when she head home, she would hide the scars of their relationship. A little eyeliner, a little makeup, caking on concealer. She would hide it all and walk into work, putting on the image of a strong woman. She had dreams about what it would feel like to actually be the woman she convinced everyone she was. If only she could convince herself. She drifted off into this fantasy world, a world she created and lied about. Her eyes almost closed until she heard the banging on the door.
“Let's get home, already. It's getting late and someone's gotta work in the morning.” He muttered, slipping his coat on. She shuddered, thinking about what would happen when they got home. She just wanted to leave him and run off with someone. Maybe Roger. His name triggered something in her, causing her to smile. His presence caused butterflies to form in her stomach, a pink shade spreading over her cheeks. She tried to drift off into a dream world where they were still together and happy. She knew she should have left with her fiancée and walked off a broken woman, but she was much more content in her dream world. She didn't even noticed when he stormed in and gripped her arm tightly, leaving marks. He whisked her off to the car, not realizing her lids were half-closed a smile flickered on her face.
Today was a bad day. Tomorrow, when she went into work, it would be good. Roger would be good. Her life would be good. If only for a few fleeting glances and touches.
