“And one, two, three, turn—no, turn the other way—okay, then again, two, three, four, step, cross, step, close—okay, good, one, two, three, and turn!” Cagalli smiled as Kira spun her, and stopped with one foot pointed out, and her arms up. Kira smiled, panting, and hugged his sister. Cagalli envied Kira and his ability to wear regular pants and a shirt while she had to deal with the skimpy dresses and heels.

This is definitely not included in her dance group sessions.

“Congratulations, Cagalli,” he said, “You’re ready for the audition.” Cagalli beamed.

“Really?”

“Yeah. Don’t worry, I’ll be your partner.” Cagalli took off her heels and kicked them to one side of the dance studio. The studio was just a large room with wooden floors, lights, and mirrors as walls. There were bars on some of the walls for balance. There was a TV with a DVD player on one corner, also where the sound system was. Speakers were lined on the junction in between the walls and the ceiling. The main reason why this room was built was for Kira to practice, and for Ellen to work out with her Pilates DVDs.

“Thanks a bunch, Kira,” Cagalli said, walking over to the corner where she had her black backpack and water, grabbing the bottle and finishing it in two swigs. She grabbed her bag and zipped it open, pulling out a pair of green camo shorts and a fitted white shirt. As Kira drank his water, Cagalli changed.

No naughty thoughts, people.

Cagalli threw the sparkly blue material that was her dress over her backpack, and pulled out a green camo German Garrison cap. She stared at herself through the mirror as she sat down and pulled on her white dunks, and stood up with her iPod Touch, taking out Kira’s CD of Latin Dance (they were dancing the samba earlier) and turned off the player, searching for the port for the speakers. She found it (the little white thing behind the player) and connected it to her iPod. Kira watched with interest.

“What are you doing?” he asked, and Cagalli smiled as she browed her library.

“You’ll see,” she said, and music came through the speakers. She set her iPod down and walked to the center of the room, moving her shoulders and head to the rhythm. Kira raised and eyebrow, and had a small smile on his face. This would be interesting.

Closer, closer, closer, closer…

Bass erupted from the speakers but Cagalli paid no attention to them. The guitar came, but still no attention. Cagalli swayed her hips when the bass came again, clapping her hands to the beat. She prepared herself for the chorus.

And I just can’t pull myself away, under a spell I can’t break, I just can’t stop…

I just can’t stop…

I just can’t stop…

I just can’t stop…

Cagalli swung her hips to the left and brought up her right leg, and to the right, bringing up her left leg, and twice more. She slid across the floor on one foot and turned, popped her chest and arched her back. Her upper body twisted upwards into a standing position, and she crossed her right foot over her left, turning so her back faced the mirror.

And I just can’t bring myself, no way, but I don’t want to escape, I just can’t stop…

I just can’t stop…

Cagalli brought her arm up and brought it down in a sliding motion, turning her body around to face the mirror. Both her hands went up behind her head and she pulled her left hand with her right, swung her hips once, and let her arms go, bowing down and letting her arms free. She bent upwards and spread her arms, bringing them over her head and down with the grace of a ballerina.

I just can’t stop…

I just can’t stop…

She spread her feet apart and swung her hips from side to side, her arms following the movement. Cagalli was so wrapped up in her dance that she didn’t notice Kira’s bulging eyes and hanging jaw.

Kira didn’t know that Cagalli could dance like that. Heck, he didn’t know many things about her at all. But his sister was there, dancing her heart out, and actually good at it? That took the cake.

In truth, Kira only saw those dance moves on TV. Only on MTV, to be exact. On those hip-hop videos. Carolyn Academy shunned those types of movements, calling them “vulgar” and “inappropriate” and “barbaric.” Carolyn always stuck with the classic dances, and maybe some modern, but nothing like this. As he watched Cagalli move both smoothly and rigidly along the music, he couldn’t help but be amazed.

Throw Carolyn out the window for believing that hip-hop was “barbaric.”

Kira didn’t notice that the song was over until Cagalli did some sort of a bow, a huge grin on her face. She looked at Kira through the mirror. “Well?” she asked, the adrenaline rush of the dance still pumping, “How was it?” It took a few moments for Kira’s jaw to close and her eyes to return to normal. He smiled a wide smile.

“Amazing! How do you do that?” Cagalli blushed and shrugged modestly. Kira walked over to his sister and analyzed her body. She was small, thin, and lacked muscle, but she had the strength of a bear and she was no where near frail.

“It’s simple, really. You just… move.” She smiled at herself in the mirror.

“Don’t you mean dance?”

“Yeah. Well, no. Move is the right word. No structured formations, just… move.” Kira smiled, despite the confusion her words brought him. But anyways.

“That’s nice. You’re gonna kill at the audition tomorrow.”

“I’m not gonna kill this audition. This audition will kill me.” Cagalli was panicking as Kira tried her best to calm her down. Cagalli was fine with it in general, it was the judges that scared her. The suit-wearing, briefcase-toting, hell-bearing judges.

“You’re gonna be fine,” Kira cooed. Cagalli glared at him.

“And if you won’t shut up, you won’t,” she seethed, and Kira knew her long enough that she was serious. They watched the couple that was auditioning now. They were good— synchronized movements, the whole shebam—but they were cut short when the scary judge woman in the middle cut their music and shook her head. The girl started crying as they left the stage. “Dammit, Kira, I can’t do this!” Cagalli whisper-shouted, as she turned to run.

“Oh, yes you can.” Kira grabbed her wrist and dragged her to the stage.

“Mister Yamato,” the scary judge lady said, “Welcome.” Kira bowed, a smile on his face. “Who is this young lady?”

“Miss Natarle,” he greeted back, “This is my sister, Cagalli Yula Athha. She’s here to audition.” Cagalli’s lips formed a straight line. The scary judge lady nodded and motioned for the man on her right to play the music player, and the beats of Sway by the Pussycat Dolls.

Kira held Cagalli’s hand and she held his, and they swayed together to the music. Kira knew when to catch her, when to spin her, and when he would whisper little requests or what would come next. Needless to say, the dance was virtually. At the end of the dance, Cagalli spun out, still holding Kira’s hand, and they bowed together.

The scary judge lady clapped her hands, smiling at Kira. Cagalli gave a small glare at Kira as he smiled back.

Hmpf. Teacher’s pet.

“Congratulations, mister Yamato,” she said smoothly, “Job well done. We’ll let you know tomorrow.” Cagai forced a grin as Kira pulled her away, and let the next couple audition. Cagalli sighed as soon as they got to the back of the auditorium, sitting next to her backpack. She could feel the sweat practically pouring out of her sweat glands and clinging to her dress and skin as she took her heels off.

“Mister Yamato, huh?” Cagalli teased as Kira took off his shirt to change. Cagalli surveyed her brother's abundance of abdominal muscles, and whistled. “Nice abs, bro.” Kira turned a great shade of red and covered his torso with the shirt he took off. Cagalli laughed. “God, you wuss! I don't like you that way, okay?” She snickered and grabbed her bottled water, twisting the cap and taking a huge swig.

Kira scowled, his face still red. “Shut up.” The folded the silk polo and tucked it in his red sling bag, and took out a black long-sleeved shirt, putting it on.

“Where's the washroom?” Cagalli suddenly said as Kira's head popped out of his shirt.

“Eh?”

“Washroom. Ladies room. The place where girls do their—” Kira panicked.

“DON'T FINISH THAT SENTENCE!” he whisper-shouted, and Cagalli smirked.

“I might.” Kira glared at her.

“Out the doors, to the left, and a right. It's a bit further down, and next to the boys' room.” Cagalli picked up her bag and heels and stood up.

“Thanks.” She walked out the doors to the auditorium, and turned to her left. She looked at the hallways. Maroon carpeted floors, Victorian-style beige wallpapers, rows of alternating blue-and-yellow lockers, the occasional drinking fountain.

After a few more minutes of walking (Damn, this hallway is long, Cagalli thought) she arrived at the washroom. She stared up at the white wooden door.

Fancy restroom, she noted, before pushing the door in. Cagalli's jaw dropped at the sight. This didn't look like a restroom at a school, more like a restroom at a hotel! There were armchairs and a glass coffee tables, and a basket of magazines at the corner. A huge mirror with an intricately carved gold frame was above the marble sinks, and there was a paper towel dispenser and a basket of potpourri that contained some soaps. Holy shit!

Cagalli continued to gape at the restroom as she proceeded inside, dropping her bag on an armchair. It took her a moment to get over the initial shock before shrugging and stripping down to her underwear, and donning on her jeans and black shirt that said, YOUR BOYFRIEND WANTS ME. in white text. Cagalli smiled at her reflection in the mirror before stuffing her things in her bag and striding out the door.

“You never told me you could dance,” Cagalli huffed impatiently as the twins played Tekken in Kira's room, which mainly consisted of robot figurines, computers, several music sheets, game consoles, puzzles and food. Lots of food.

“You never asked,” he murmured, pressing several buttons. Cagalli cursed as Law hit Lily on the head.

“Jerk!” she muttered as she controlled Lily to hit Law on the head in return. “I mean, did you used to get into all that musician stuff? The whole piano recitals and bam.” She scowled as Law hit Lily square in the gut and Lily died. Kira shrugged.

“Dance is cool, too.” Cagalli rolled her eyes and scowled. Her brother was impossible to hold a conversation with.

“Can you give me some reasonable information to deal with so that we could carry out a more-than-ten-sentences conversation?” Cagalli said as she selected Nina for her next player. Kira chose Hwoarang before posing his mock-thinking pose.

“Nah, not really.” A controller collided with the shoulder. “Ow!”

“Shut up and play. I don't feel like talking to you anymore.”

“How was your day?” asked Ellen as she cut into her steak. The twins smiled at their mother.

“All the same. Yours?” Kira replied. Ellen shrugged. You see where Kira and Cagalli inherit their shrugging abilities.

“Work is difficult, as always. Business deals here, sales there. It's all so hectic.” She bit into her steak and chewed. She swallowed before turning to Cagalli and asking, “How do you like Orb?” Cagalli grinned.

“I haven't seen much of the city yet, Mom,” Cagalli replied sadly, “but I had fun today at the audition!” Ellen grinned.

“That's great, dear,” she said. “Well, it is only just a Saturday. See the city tomorrow, won't you?” Ellen coaxed her daughter. Cagalli would love to see the city; after all, she is the city girl.

“Sure,” Cagalli smiled, “Will I drive?” Kira stuck out his tongue at her.

“No,” he taunted, “That's my job.” Cagalli gave him a deadpanned look.

“You've got to be kidding me.”

“What? I actually have a license. I am, after all, your older brother.”

“If you don't shut up soon, Yamato, I won't have an older brother.”

Cagalli Yula Athha bid her brother and mother goodnight as she went up to her new room. She entered the amazing living space and lay down on her bed, staring at the neat ceiling. Maybe an e-mail to her friends back in LA was in order?

She sighed and got up, walked over to her new computer, booting it up and connecting to the internet. She clicked open and window and typed in the address for her e-mail access.

Welcome, Cagalli. You have 15 new mail messages and 3 spam.

Cagalli clicked open her Inbox and browsed over her new mail. School information, school information, subscription letter, school information, et cetera... She clicked on the second to the last e-mail. it came from ahmed(at)geldorfacademy(dot)net. She grinned.

Hola, chiquita! How is it in Orb? I hope it's nothing too boring. We really miss you here. Missy's going nuts. Well, anyways, take care, 'kay, babe? Write back soon.

Cagalli rolled her eyes at the word “babe.” Whatever.

Don't you 'babe' me, you ass. Anyways, it's cool here. I'm gonna attend a fancy rich-people-only school that have washrooms as good as the ones at the Hilton. Oh, and my house? Better than a nuclear bomb, bitch! HAHAHAHAHA. Aw, tell Missy I love her ass, too.

Cagalli clicked Send and waited for the notification screen to come up.

Ahmed Mulena was one of her closest friends. Well, friends long enough that everyone thought that they were together. It took a new girl, a hot kiss, and several pictures and videos to break the couple streak. It's a bad enough story.

Cagalli decided to crawl back to bed while waiting for Ahmed's reply, and frowned when it didn't come in sooner. She felt sleep taking over her, and succeeding just after she realized that she was more than a hundred miles away and eleven hours ahead of her friends.

I am never going to write dance moves, to over describe, and to make something lack humor ever again.

Sorry for the pretty boring chapter. Don't worry, Athrun's coming in the next ten chapters! xD

Note: Thanks to Smile for Life for pointing out a typo. :)
