“Sniff… Sniff…” Karly sniffled. She caught a cold because she refused to wear her jacket. Then it got real cold, so she froze herself. Now she had a stuffy nose which was also ready, and she was sick.

“I hate this…” she said in an altered voice.

“What, the fact you’re sick and that we’re about to reach Eterna Forest?” Brandon asked.

“That, and the fact that you’re always right. A-CHOO!!” she said.

“It’s your fault.” Baron said simply.

“Shut up!!” the other’s snapped.

“What’s your problem?” Baron asked.

“You.” Karly said.

“You.” Nezmi said.

“What they said.” Brandon said, not paying attention.

“Geniuses…” Baron muttered. Karly punched him in the arm. “Ow!!” he said.

“Would you guys stop?” Brandon asked.

“Well then, make him – ACHOO – shut up then…” Karly said. She took out a tissue then blew her nose.

“Well, we’re here. Eterna Forest.” Brandon said, looking at the map.

“Brandon, get your eyes checked.”

“Why?” he said, until he looked up. They were at a dead end.

“Give me the map.” Karly said. Brandon handed her the map.

There was a silence.

“!!!”

“I had the map upside down?” Brandon asked.

“Yes.” Karly snapped. “You had the map upside down. We’re not near Eternea Forest.”

“Wait, so you mean…?” Nezmi said.

“Yep. We’re lost…” Karly said.

“Good job Brandon.” Baron snapped.

“Shut up before I choke you.” Karly snapped.

“Both of you are giving me a headache.” Nezmi said.

“You’re giving us a headache.” Karly and Baron both said.

“All of you are giving me a headache!! Just shut up!!” Brandon snapped.

The other three were silent.

Brandon looked back over the map for a little bit.

There was an awkward silence.

“Okay, Eterna Forest isn’t too far away. We can get there from here.” Brandon said. “Let’s go. And I don’t want any bickering or you can say goodbye to me.”

The group walked in utter silence. No one spoke a single word. The entire trip was completely quite.

“Guys, you can talk, just don’t argue and stuff.” Brandon said, feeling kinda guilt for not being so clear on that.

“We’re just afraid we’ll say something out-of-line and you’ll go away.” Karly said.

“Guys, seriously. You’re making me feel like the leader here.” he said awkwardly.

“…”

“…”

“Guys?” Brandon asked.

“Yeah?” they all said.

“Do you really think I’m the leader?” he asked.

“…”

“…”

“…”

“Well?”

“…………”

“…………”

“…………”

Brandon sighed.

“…I do.” Karly said.

Everyone stopped.

“If anything, you should be the leader Brandon. You have all the knowledge that a leader should have in order to lead a group. If the three of us didn’t have you, we’d be lost even worse than before. And I probably shouldn’t have yelled at you. It was wrong.” she said.

“And I guess I kinda just got sick of listening to Karly and Baron arguing all the time. I was a little out of line there.” Nezmi said. “And, you really DO deserve to be the leader.”

Baron was silent.

“Baron? What do you think?” Karly asked.

Baron still said nothing.

“Baron, you better say something or you can say goodbye to being in this group.” Karly said.

“…………… You’re right.” Baron finally said. “Brandon really should be the leader of our group. I guess I was way to out of line with everyone. I’ve been a complete and utter jerk. I need to be more respectful of Karly, of Nezmi, and definitely Brandon.”

Brandon smiled. “…Thanks guys. I really appreciate that.”

Everyone smiled. “So tell me.” Karly said. “When are we gonna get to Eterna Forest?”
