Summary: Bella Swan and Edward Masen have spent their whole lives together, growing up in the small town of Columbia City, Oregon. Bella can't imagine life without her best friend until a tragic car accident on a deserted stretch of highway steals him away from her and forces her to face this very reality. Four years later, Bella moves to Forks, WA and she is given a new chance to start again. A fresh start is exactly what she's looking for until she arrives at Forks high and sees her long lost friend inexplicably alive and well and undeniably still seventeen. AU - M - OOC (somewhat)

What Impossible Means
Chapter One – Preface
I've waited for this moment
All my life and more
And now I see so clearly
What I could not see before.
The time is now or never
This chance won't come again
Throw caution and myself into the wind.
There's no promise of safety with these secondhand wings
But I'm willing to find out what impossible means.
A leap of faith.
I will touch the sun or I will die trying.
~ Thrice, 'The Melting Point of Wax'
I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was impossible, beyond impossible. I was dreaming, I was delusional. I had to be. That was the only way that could explain what was right in front of me.
He looked at me darkly, finally noticing the way I was staring at him. There was no sense of recognition on his face, nothing to indicate that he knew who I was at all. Just the same, dark look, brows furrowed.
It's wrong. It's wrong. It's wrong. This isn't right. It can't be.
"Edward?" I gasped. My chest felt tight, too tight and my head was spinning. It couldn't be. It was impossible. Completely, utterly impossible.
I was delusional. But the others could see them too. Impossible.
Everything went black.
I'm writing the massive backstory all at once while it's super fresh in my mind so I'm probably going to be spamming the fic fandom all day.
