L's question rings out over the rain. It's coming down so hard and it almost seems as if the world is crying. Light cannot think of anything beyond the man standing in this rain with him, L.

Those words, what does L think he's accomplishing with them?

L knows that Light is lying. He can see it in his eyes when he thinks that L is not watching. But he is always watching Light.

The detective turns to wait for a response from the boy. Light looks almost taken aback..almost. He listens to Light's response and the only part of it he can hang on to is..

"I've always made a conscious effort never to lie to people."

L turns away.

"I had a feeling you'd say something like that."
