CHAPTER FOURTEEN

As the time passed Rhapsody gotten bigger. The extension to the house for the baby was coming along great. Her and Soleil were sitting on the couch watching a movie.

“I don’t get how you did it. I either am staving or tired and if it isn’t that I gotta pee all the time.”

Soleil laughed “Just one moment at a time.”

“Why can’t you ever give me good advice?” Rhapsody hit her with the pillow.

“It was. But you know us, we like to give each other spectacular advice.”

Rhapsody rolled her eyes and they both started laughing.

“Will you walk with me to see Jake. You don’t have to stay, I just hate being fat and walking alone.” Asked Rhapsody.

“Why? And your not fat, your pregnant.” Soleil said.

Rhapsody held out her hands “Because people keep asking if I need help all the time. And everyone talks to the fat, pregnant lady. It’s so annoying, I don’t want to talk with the strange dirty person.”

Soleil took her hands and helped her up shaking her head at her. Soleil walked with Rhapsody as she wobbled down to the barber shop. Hank and Mr. Bray were sitting on the bench when she arrived. Jake was in the barber chair reading the news paper.

“Move over for the fat lady.” Rhapsody sat on the bench with Hank and Mr. Bray.

“Your not fat you have a baby in you.” Soleil stood by her.

Rubbing her belly “Whatever. Oh you guys feel, the baby is kicking.”

Soleil felt it and smiled, Rhapsody took Mr. Brays hand and made him feel.

“Let me feel.” Hank leaned over and place his hand where Mr. Brays was.

“Come here Jake have a feel.” Rhapsody motion for him to come over to her.

He got up “I don’t feel anything.” He said.

Rhapsody felt her stomach “Here, the kicking just moved.” She guided his hand to where it was.

Jake smiled when he felt it kicking.

“While Colleen has Elizabeth I’m going to take advantage and use the lavender oils for a uber long bath.” Soleil waved bye.

Rhapsody looked over to Hank “No she does not need help Hank.”

Placing his hand over his heart “I wouldn’t think such a thing.”

“Coming from the guy who was raiding my closet when we first arrived, I’m sure.”

“So was Jake and if I recall he and was in your underwear drawer.” Hank pointed at Jake.

“It’s not creepy now because he is my husband. But the dress was kind of pretty for you.” Rhapsody giggled.

Mr. Bray chucked “Hank in a dress.”

Hank stood “You do look kind of big.” He walked away.

Throwing her hands up “Thank you. Now someone agrees with me.”

Mr. Bray soon left. Jake joined her on the bench.

“You don’t look fat to me.” He held her hand.

“I know I just feel it. This is crazy, I’m tired of being this big , I’m ready to pop.” She smiled.

Tilting his head “Pop?”

Giving him a kiss “Give birth. I’m ready to give birth.” Pushing on him to get up.

“Where are you going?” He asked.

“I’m eating for two and right now I’m starving.”

Getting up “I’ll go with you.”

The time finally came. Rhapsody was in the clinic screaming as the others waited outside. Jake paced the floor, while Soleil and Matthew watched. Colleen and Brian were playing with Elizabeth. Hours passed till Dr. Quinn walked out fot he clinic, Jake quickly turned to her.

Smiling “Rhapsody is fine. And congratulations your a father of two precious little girls.”

Studdering “Tw…..tw….” He then fainted.

Dr. Quinn went to check him, everything was fine. When he opened his eyes Dr. Quinn told him he could go in. Jake rushed up to the room she was in. Their laying in the bed was Rhapsody and the two new additions. She smiled and handed him one of them when he sat on the bed next to her.

“Twins.” Jake smiled.

“Now I understand while I was so fat.” Rhapsody joked.

“Ya, you were a whale.” Teased Soleil as she walked into the room with Elizabeth and Matthew.

“Once I’m up and going I’m kicking you in the shins.” Glared Rhapsody.

“Glad your back to your old self.” Matthew got a chair for him and Soleil.

They sat their and chatted awhile before Soleil and Matthew took Elizabeth home for a nap. The twins were sleeping in a crib that was brought in for them. As Jake sat on the bed Rhapsody curled up to him and he put an arm around her.

“What are we going to name them?” He asked.

“What do you think of Samantha and Rebbecca?”

“That sounds perfect.”

A minute or two passed of silence and Jake looked down at Rhapsody to see that she had fallen asleep. He moved her so she was laying down. Pulling the blanket over her he sat in an empty chair by the bed.

As the time passed the extension to the house came along fine. And soon it was complete. The girls were now sleeping thought the night. So they laid them down in their rooms. Elizabeth took a great liking to them.

It was a nice warm spring day, so Soleil and Rhapsody took the children out. They were on the front porch, Samantha and Rebbecca were in their little beds. Elizabeth and Soleil were sitting on the porch playing. While Rhapsody was in the sun stretching, when Matthew rode up.

“What you all doing?” He dismounted tieing the horse off the side.

“Enjoying the fine day. And were going to see if Rhapsody can still dance.” Soleil answered.

“Dance what?” Matthew went over giving Soleil and Elizabeth a kiss.

“Ballet. I was seeing if I still got it. Plus it’s a good way for me to lose the pounds I packed on because of the girls.” Rhapsody told him.

Matthew sat on the bench “Then let’s see if you do go it. Or as you two like to say ‘eat it’.”

They both started laughing “That’s what I told her. That she would probably eat it most likely.” Soleil said.

“Thanks for the vote of confidence you two.” Rhapsody finished her stretching.

Like riding a bike Rhapsody was smooth and graceful. When she finished Soleil and Matthew clapped. Elizabeth giggled and clapped with them.

“Your turns suck but it was good none the less.” Soleil told her when she got close.

“That was amazing.” Matthew said.

“Thanks. But she is right my turns need some major work. Granted I am heavier than before.” Rhapsody sat on the stairs.

“Why don’t you dance more? This is the first time I’ve seen you do it.” Matthew asked her.

“Lost the passion for it.” Rhapsody said.

“Today you looked like you hadn’t.” Soleil told her.

Rhapsody went over to the twins “I was thinking of teaching Rebbecca and Samantha to dance when they got older.”

Soleil smiled “Will you teach Elizabeth too?”

“Sure why not. Well I told Jake I’d bring the girls by. I’ll see you all later.” Rhapsody pushed the twins to the town.

Years past Elizabeth was eleven and the twins were ten now. Soleil and Matthew were sitting at Grace’s.

“I can’t believe how big they have gotten.” Soleil sipped her drink.

“They do grow awfully fast.” Matthew poked at his food.

“Where does the time go?” Taking a bite of her food.

Shrugging “I don’t know. But I have enjoyed every minute of it with Elizabeth. You ever think of having more?” Matthew asked.

“Sometimes. Someday I would like to have another kid. Then some days I don’t. I just figured if we were meant to have more it would happen.”

Matthew leaned over giving her a kiss “I agree with that.”

Elizabeth came running up “Mom, dad look. I got an A on my math test.” Handing her paper to them.

“That is wonderful sweetheart. We will put it on the fridge.” Soleil smiled.

“You are so smart.” Matthew rubbed her head.

Moving her head away “It was nothing.” She smiled.

“Let’s get some pie to celebrate.” Soleil said.

Jake was cutting a mans hair “Are you married Mr. Slicker?” The man asked.

“Yes. How about yourself?”

“Married 35 years and four kids. You have any kids?”

Jake moved from the left side to the right side “Twin ten year old girls.”

Right on cue the two came running in “Look dad look.” They both called out each holding up a piece of paper on either side of him.

“Five minutes and I’ll be done here ok?”

The man in the chair smiled as the twins sat on the bench and watch Jake finish cutting the man’s hair. When Jake finished he sat in the middle of the two.

“What is it?” He asked.

The handed him their paper “We got A’s on our test.” Rebbecca said.

“Hey you three what’s going here?” Rhapsody said from the door.

Samantha went over to Rhapsody “We got A’s on our test.”

Rhapsody sat on the bench moving Samantha on her lap “I am so proud of you both. I’m glad Soleil was able to help you.”

“Elizabeth is over at Grace’s with Aunt Soleil and Uncle Matthew. She got an A too.” Rebbecca said.

“Let’s join them. They are probably celebrating and we should too.” Rhapsody said.
