“Next.”

A girl bounced into the tent, her long brown hair divided in two, trailing behind her.

The fortuneteller smiled. “Ah, you have the look of a great future ahead of you. First, let’s start with your name.”

“It’s Marta.”

“Marta. What a lovely name.”

Marta started to fiddle with one of the flowers on her head. “What exactly does my future hold? Is there a blond-haired boy in it?”

“Why, of course dearie.” The fortuneteller’s eyes gleamed. “In fact, I can see many things in your future.” The woman bent over her crystal ball, continuing. “I can see you traveling to many faraway places…a magnificent castle, icy caves, and…what’s this?” She peered closer. “I see…a door? With shining jewels embedded within it. A man is standing in front of it-“

“Okay okay! But what about the boy? Do we get together?” Marta interrupted, looking closely at the fortuneteller, daring her to lie.

The woman frowned. This is what she got for giving free fortunes. “The boy…blond, garbed in blue?”

“Yes!”

Peering closer into her ball, the fortuneteller continued to frown. “I would advise breaking off contact with the boy-”

“What?!”

“If you would let me continue.”

“Sorry.”

The fortuneteller sighed. “While I would advise you to forget about him, you seem…adamant about ignoring me.”

Marta could only grin, embarrassed. “I’m sorry. But why would you want me to leave him?...”

“He is…how should I put it? Conflicted. It is like there are two sides of him, and each is trying to be heard. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific.”

“It’s okay.” Marta closed her eyes, thinking. “What happens if I stay with him?”

“Eventually, I see him breaking out of his shell, and the two of you living the rest of your lives together happily.”

“Hmmm…Breaking out of his shell. What does that mean? He’s always been kind of timid…”

“That and he will finally settle things with his inner self.”

Marta grinned happily. “Thanks! That’s all I need to know!”

She skipped merrily out of the tent, passing the long line of eager people waiting to get their fortunes told. We’ll meet up in front of the Chosen’s shape, she remembered.

Already the sun seemed brighter, the sky bluer as she half-skipped, half-ran to tell Emil the good news.

Her one true love. Her destiny.

So what did you think? I only recently finished the second Richter side quest where you start from Triet (on my second playthrough), and I wondered just how exactly Marta’s fortune was told. I could totally see her getting told the rest of the game, but completely ignoring it in favor of her future with Emil. :P

Review and tell me what you think!
