Flowers
The crashing sound of the waterfalls drowned all other noises out, the scent of the thousands of millions of flowers that littered the floor filling the senses of all that stood around it. The round moon hung low in the background, the horizon pink, purple and blue. Water seemed to fly up and the cliffs created a safe barrage around them. Protecting them from pain. There was no need for pain anymore. It was all over. The life of a Summoner. The life of a Blitzer. There was no need to return to either lives.
Rainbow coloured lights filled the sky, flickering like the aurora. The sea sat in the distance, mountains close by, fulfilling the perfect scenario. No noise. No sound. Just flowers, fields, sea, lights, cliffs, mountains. A place of rest. A promise kept. Sound was muffled, the crashing the only sound that really stood out in the minds of its occupants. That and the image of the two young people in front of them, their bodies pressed together, their faces embraced at the lips, their hands crushing each other, their eyes focused on each other.
There was a soft glow around them, a dim light as the a gentle gust of wind blew the flowers up, disturbing them, making them fly and dance around the two people. The young man gazed down at the young woman, his bright blue eyes electric and alive, the girl's chocolate brown wide and excited, no hint of the pain they had once held. All pain was lost now, it was gone. And they were free.
"I now pronounce you man and wife," the priest said, stepping off the platform to pour the pure water on them and perform the Holy spell, binding them together. Lights danced around them and the water flowed around with the lights, instead of falling on their heads. A beautiful pattern formed of twisting water and lights as the people of the island cheered and laughed, watching the new married couple with joy in their eyes. Shuyin offered his hand to Lenne and she accepted, taking it as he stepped down. He placed each hand on either side of her waist, tracing the lace design that was spread across the bodice and the skirt. Two cute, small sleeves covered her shoulders and she giggled as Shuyin raised her up, swinging her around in his arms, carrying her through the crowd onto the cliff pathway.
Lenne laughed lightly as they left their private paradise, the one they had found together when they first moved to Besaid Island. It had been hidden in the cliff-tops, heaven on Earth, Shuyin had called it. The fields were hidden by the mountains on one side, heading into what little mainland there was, and the cliffs were on the other side. There had been a clear lake too, the source of the pure water Besaid offered. She turned her head to wave, her long brown hair twisted and pinned back off her face. Her cream complexion glowed healthily as she slipped her gloved hand in Shuyin's. He grinned down at her, his grey suit immaculate and clean-cut.
He had finally gotten what he had always wanted. And they would stay hidden in their paradise, away from people who hatred them, away from war, away from death.
Their song would go on forever.
