Two and a half years ago Lily was healed from breas cancer. She and Garret have been dating for almost five years and have been married for almost four years. After her first three month check-up in Febuary 1996 both temporarily left their jobs, and did that what they had normally planned on doing after retiring, they travelled around the world through Central America, South America, Ozeania and Asia for 18 months. They returned in August 1997. Even if the doctors were not amused about there travelling they still did it because they knew how short life can be. After fighting cancer there was one thing that was still missing, a baby. Lily was hopeing for a baby and so was Garret but they also knew that it might take longer after having chemotherapy. They were happy with each other but they would be even more happy with a baby.

Lily went into Garret´s office in the lunch break because she wanted to talk to him. “Garret!” “Hey sweetheart!” She sat down on his couch. “I want to talk to you Garret.” “Sure what is it?” “I know that it is not what I would have used to do before I had cancer but I know that I have to stop doing things on my own and have to stop keeping things that are on my mind from you.” Lily was rambeling. He walked around the desk and sat down on the couch next to her and put a hand on her arm. “Lily slow down what is the matter?” “Alright.” “Sweetheart what is it?”

She swallowed hard before she talked to him. “Garret I do not want to hurt you but I think that I have a limp in my right breast.” “Are you sure.” She shook her head, no. He wrapped her into a hug and pulled her into his chest. “Lily if it really is a limp we will figure it out together and get through that together.” “Thank you.” “Lily we have to go to your doctor and have to have it checked out Lily.” “Alright.” She is crying a little into his chest. “Lily how about I call your doctor now and get an appointment and we will see what happens after that.” “Thank you.”

After Garret called Lily´s doctor and told what happened she gave him an appointment for that afternoon. “Sweetheart we have an appointment at four p.m.” “Thank you.” “You are more then welcome.” In the afternoon they are at the doctors appointment and Lily has been checked out. Now they only have to wait for the results. The doctor has felt a limp in her right breast and has taken a sample.

Two days later Lily has the result it is cancer again. She will need another half year of chemotherapy and she will need an operation to remove the cancer.

When they return home Lily is devestated she sits down on the couch. Garret sits down next to her and pulls the crying Lily into his chest. “Lily we are in this together. You are not alone. I love you Lily.” She still did not say a word she just snuggled into him searching for support. He knew that it would take time until she fully accept that she had cancer again. He knew that it was hard for her to accept and go through that a second time.
