Yoh groaned as he felt Anna’s lips trail soft kisses on his collarbone as she was perched on top of him on the kitchen floor. He kind of forgot how he got to this situation. Well, actually, he remembered, but with Anna on top of him—and giggling—a lot of things turned out to be a blur. The memory was vague.

Something about dishes. And cleaning.

Oh, to hell with it.

He gripped her by the waist with his left hand and cupped her nape with his right, kissing her forehead. He looked up and he assaulted her lips with his own, kissing her ferociously. She moaned in response as she tangled her own fingers in his hair. He pushed himself up to a sitting position to get better access to the whole of her.

He cupped her cheek, stroked her blonde hair lovingly and pressed his tongue against her lips. She moaned as she met his tongue with hers, and Yoh’s hands traced her figure. He could feel ribs, smooth skin, scars, some scratches, a few bumps—but despite all this, he still thought she was perfect.

As soon as they broke for air, Yoh muttered, “You need to eat more.” And they kissed again. They had a small conversation in between kisses.

“Why?”

“Because you’re too thin,” he muttered as his lips traced her jaw and her neck. Anna gasped.

“Oh—what—I-I’m fine, Yoh,” she said as she clutched his hair. Yoh smirked.

“I’ll train twice as hard.” Anna stiffened as Yoh’s tongue darted out to lick her collar.

“But I’m fine,” she insisted, and he kissed her full on the lips.

“No, you’re not,” he murmured against her lips, then she pushed him away. Yoh, disoriented, blinked and fell back. He gave Anna a troubled look when he heard a doorbell ring. Her face was stoic again, the sweet, gentle smile gone. He scowled, and, despite herself, Anna coughed out a laugh.

“Now get cleaning,” she said, her face as hard as stone, as if her smile never existed at all. Manta entered the room with a few books, talking about the exam on Monday. Yoh gave his best friend a goofy grin, before getting up.

“I’ll go clean the dishes,” he announced before smiling his signature goofy smile. Manta went on and helped him, but was too busy wiping the dishes clean and talking to Yoh about college to notice Yoh stare at Anna with his face all lit up for a few seconds then go back to what he was doing.

Then, in the middle of the chore, Manta asked him what he would do when he graduates college. Yoh blinked.

“What?”

“Yoh, are you even paying attention?” Yoh gave Manta his usual goofy grin.

“Sorry, buddy. I sorta spaced out there.” Manta sighed.

“It’s alright. I got used to it.” Manta shook his head. “So, anyways, I was asking on what you’re gonna do after you graduate college. I mean, we’re in year nine, already. Only a matter of time before we have to choose what career we’ll take up.” Manta placed the plate in the cupboard. “I have no problem—my dad’s got it all set up. How about you?” He wiped his pruny hands and hung the towel while Yoh wiped his hands on his jeans. “I mean, what do you wanna do when you graduate? If you didn’t have to marry Anna, that is.” Yoh looked at his tiny friend, then grinned.

“I don’t know. But it will all work out.” He gazed at Anna with a loving smile on his face. “But I don’t have to marry Anna.” Yoh shrugged. “I guess I want to.”

“WHAT?!” Manta shrieked, as if Yoh just said that the world would end in five minutes. “Are you crazy?!” Yoh chuckled then put his hands in his pockets.

“Maybe I am,” were Yoh’s last words as he hummed and left the kitchen.
