Lovebug

Whoever knew a bee could be so deadly? Sequel to Lovestruck.

A/N: Everybody’s been asking for it. So here it is. The sequel to Lovestruck.

Itachi remembered her words. He never knew rejection felt this bad. It almost made him feel guilty for denying his little brother all those years… but then again, his little brother was the cause of all this rejection in the first place. He kept a mental note to kill him later.

I’m sorry Uchiha-san…” The pink-haired girl bit her lip, “I’m already dating your brother.”

His first thoughts were about the girl his parent’s mentioned to him, that was currently in love with their second son. They were so happy. Not because his little brother had finally found someone special to him… but because this particular girl held a high position in society.

Then the next thoughts were how he could decapitate his younger brother without their parents finding out. Not a very good path of thinking.

And… right now, for the first time in his life… Itachi found out about rejection… It was just his luck it had to happen concerning love.

And now, after he was physically given the beating of his life by none other than a pink-haired chuunin who couldn’t control her temper, Uchiha Itachi fainted.

You’re in love with my brother.”

So?”

You’re supposed to be in love with me.”

Ah… That’s the control freak talking.”

Itachi woke up a few hours later at his home. He was surprised to find that he was already in his bed, tucked in. It must’ve been the doing of his mother. He could just imagine her worried face when he was brought in by a couple of ANBU looking like a rag doll. She must’ve thought that he barely survived another mission.

Itachi walked over to the mirror to assess his injuries… surprised he actually found none. He vaguely remembered the girl who caused all of this injuries frantically heal him before he lost consciousness in her arms. She was better than he thought.

She would probably pass ANBU with flying colors especially now that she had showcased her prized talent, an advanced skill in medical procedures. The elders would no doubt put her on the active roster at once, never mind what she did to their prized ANBU captain.

Itachi scowled. He should’ve known better. She was the apprentice to the fifth Hokage. It would be no wonder why she could beat someone to a pulp. And seeing what just happened, she had also inherited her dear mentor’s insane temper.

A knock on his door interrupted his thoughts.

It was the last person he wanted to see right now.

“Come in, Sasuke.”

“Nii-san.”

Silence. Itachi never knew his brother could be so… quiet. When they were together, Sasuke would always seek to get his approval… by talking so much. It always intrigued him as to how much his brother can say about himself.

“I heard about what happened.”

Ah. It just had to be that, Itachi’s shocking rejection. It made the older Uchiha sour just by the thought of it.

“It’s none of your business.” He just had to lie.

“You asked my girlfriend out to dinner… how is that none of my business?” And he just had to be smart.

For the first time in Itachi’s miserably Sakura-free life, he despised his Uchiha genes because of the brains it had given his oh-so-sharp brother. Damn it. Can’t he just kill him and say it was an accident?

She rejected you.”

That’s the tenth time you’ve said it.”

I know… I just had to rub it in a little more.”

Of course, Sasuke himself couldn’t believe that Sakura would actually reject his older, much more perfect brother for him. Life wasn’t just like that. All throughout Sasuke’s life, he was always outshone by the elder Uchiha that it wouldn’t surprise him if their parents had actually forgotten that they had a second son.

But now, his beloved Sakura had actually rejected prized-ANBU Itachi for second son Sasuke. Daaamn. This certainly was an ego boost. He really had to treat Sakura to dinner for this.

Silence.

His brother had always been silent. It was okay since he was there to fill up the empty air but now that he had decided to wait for him to talk, his new stubborn outlook on life (he blames Sakura) helped him go through the thick tension.

“She said no.” Oh god, that felt good.

“Yeah, she told me about it a while ago.”

Sasuke could see the beginnings of a frown on his brother’s face, “Then, little brother, I don’t see the use of this conversation.”

Sasuke shrugged before smirking, “Well, neither do I but I just got to hear you say it for yourself.” Sasuke laughed manically in his head before leaving the room.

He swore that Itachi was about to skin him alive.

Oh how right he was.

I’m going to kill you.”

Mother will find out.”

“…”

Ha.”

It had been a few days since the incident with the Hokage’s apprentice and rumor regarding said incident had spread like wildfire all throughout the village in a mere two days. It was probably because of the doings of Sakura’s friend and Konoha’s resident gossip, Yamanaka Ino.

And if you’re wondering what Itachi had been doing these past couple of days, well, he had been gathering information on his new target, Haruno Sakura. He had been given a forced leave in order to recuperate from his injuries which he so vehemently denied he had. But he still had to drop by HQ just to check when he would be coming back on active duty.

If the medic thought she could get rid of him so easily then she thought wrong.

Itachi could still recall what his father had told him about respecting his brother’s girlfriend.

Itachi, Sasuke got to her first.” It had been strange to actually get told off by his father regarding a matter of something that both of them wanted. Usually he’d be given what he had desired while Sasuke was told off but now, it seems the table has turned.

And that was already twice in a row. First off, by Sakura then by his father. Sasuke must be having the time of his life right about now.

But still… Uchiha Itachi gets what he wants. And unfortunately for his little brother, he wants the medic.

Arriving at ANBU headquarters, he could feel the stares of everyone in the reception area. (It was strange for a secret headquarters to actually have one… but they do.)

“Woah Uchiha. Never though you’d come back after that ass-kicking.” That voice was unmistakable, it was a masked Shiranui Genma that said those words as he slapped him on the back, “But if I got my ass handed to me by the same woman who bitch-slapped you to hell, I wouldn’t mind coming back for more either.” He said suggestively. Definitely Genma.

Ignoring the pig that kept chatting up a kunoichi who seemed to be new, he walked up to the woman at the table and asked if the Hokage had assigned him any upcoming missions.

“Hm… As far as I can see Itachi-san, you have an upcoming mission in three days. The briefing will be two days before.” She said professionally before compiling the documents that had been scattered on her tabletop seconds ago.

Well, at least his forced leave hadn’t been long. A week to heal and rest was good for anyone after all.

He couldn’t wait for this upcoming mission… Something had told him that he was going to enjoy this.

I’m giving you a week off. Those injuries are still tender despite Sakura’s healing abilities.”

I am fine.”

Tch. Says the guy who fainted after being punched by a girl.”

Tsunade looked on at her two agents.

One had just recovered from the first and only beating of his life and he looked like he was in top form once more and the other a newly instated kunoichi whom she had the pleasure of teaching everything she knew to.

The mission was simple. Kill and leave.

She had assigned Sakura to this mission so that she could put her medic abilities to use.

The man that had been targeted was an extremely famous politician in the land of Rain. Anything that might point to Konoha as culprits to his death could cause war among the two nations.

“He will have a heart attack.”

He could feel the questions that popped into the Uchiha’s mind once she said these words. After all, how could one cause cardiac arrest to a perfectly healthy man.

Well, this was child’s play to someone like Sakura who knew the human body like it was the back of her hand.

“Leave in two days… I expect this mission to be finished quickly. I will not set a definite amount of time because I know how erratic the weather can be there.” She continued as she stared at the two who only gazed back at her.

“Good luck.”

God knows they need it. Tsunade just hoped that Itachi didn’t bear a grudge against Sakura for what she did before.

I don’t need a partner.”

Tell me that when you can kill someone without spreading his blood all over the place.”

Sakura could’ve believe it herself.

She had just gone on a mission with a man whom she beat up, healed and then turned down. How lovely.

But thankfully, the mission itself was a success with no casualties. The man simply fell over and died the moment she used her chakra to invade his circulatory system.

The awkwardness; however, seemed to have tripled on their trip home. Itachi had been quiet the whole way. And now they were still at Rain, cleaning up camp. The sun had already set the day before and they had been forced to camp there for the night.

As Sakura doused the campfire with flame, she suddenly felt Itachi, who had been packing their things beside her, tense. Immediately thinking that there were enemy nin around to make even the Uchiha Itachi worry, Sakura put her guard up.

“Which direction?” She muttered, quietly enough so that only the Uchiha boy would be the only one that could hear.

He didn’t move or even say a word.

“Uchiha-san you better tell me or we’ll end up trapped here.” She muttered slightly alarmed that Itachi had been rendered motionless just by their enemy’s presence.

Still no answer.

“Damn it, Itachi! Just fucking tell me where it is.” She told him frantically.

“T-to my right.”

Glancing at the almight enemy that even Uchiha Itachi feared, Sakura gaped.

It was a bee.

What the fuck?”

I don’t like bees.”

Bees aren’t scary, Uchiha-san.”

IT IS!”

Itachi had never been fond of bees.

Ever since he had been stung by one as a child and find out the hard way that he was allergic to them, he never approached one even if it meant taking the long route home from a tiring mission.

This was also one of the reasons that he threw away every flower he received, fans and friends alike.

It was safe to say, that he was traumatized by them.

He absolutely never wants to see his face that bloated again. Contrary to popular belief, he actually does care about his looks.

So there he was… standing next to a deadly, flying bee that can most certainly end his life.

“What the hell?” He heard her say.

It was true that not many people were afraid of bees… especially shinobi but that didn’t mean there weren’t any.

“Uchiha-san?” She repeated calmly; however, Itachi refused to move, “It’s just a stupid bug.”

Still no response.

“It’s just a bee Uchiha-san.” She said before taking a swing at it with her hand, attempting to swat it away.

“No!” Itachi shouted frantically.

But the damage had already been done and he saw the bee ready its assault towards the pink-haired girl who so foolishly challenged it.

It all went so slow in his head, he pushed her away, watching the bee as it stung his arm.

And then everything went black.

Oh my! What happened?”

We got attacked.”

By who? Akatsuki?”

No… A bee.”

Itachi woke up in a white room. He assumed that they were already back at Konoha. How that happened, he didn’t know why.

She must’ve gotten back-up.

Well, that was embarrassing.

Who would ever thought that a mere flying insect would be his ultimate downfall? It was completely ludicrous. He was sure that everyone at HQ would be laughing at his expense right about now.

He heard the door creak and footsteps approached his bed. He’d recognized those gentle steps anywhere.

“Sakura.”

“Uchiha-san, how’re you feeling?” She asked, genuinely concerned for her well-being.

“I’m fine.”

An awkward silence fell over the two as Sakura shifted on her feet, “By the way, Sasuke’s outside. He’s been meaning to talk to you when you woke up. I’ll call him.”

Itachi watched her exit his room and his brother enter. The young Uchiha looked pale.

“What the hell happened brother?” He asked, “I saw Sakura carrying you on her back, she told us that you needed to get to the hospital before fainting herself.”

Itachi briefly wondered why Sakura had been so fatigued as well before concluding that she must’ve used chakra to carry him back all the way from Rain in a fast pace. Judging from the distance, she must’ve used a lot as well.

“I was… stung… by a bee.”

Sasuke stopped, “Oh.”

His brother had always been privy to his life. It was no surprise to him that he knew about his allergies after all, he was family despite his foolishness.

“We thought you guys were attacked. Sakura wouldn’t say a word of it to anyone, not even me.” He said with a frown, “Well, I gotta check up on Sakura.”

When Sasuke had left the room, Itachi let out a breath.

Reflecting upon everything that has happened on that mission and right now, Itachi found out about a lot of things…

Perhaps, he really was slightly conscious of his reputation more than he’d like to admit. Also that if he was stung by a bee, the consequences were definitely not to his liking.

However, he wondered to himself as to why but he’d let himself be stung a thousand times more if it meant that Sakura would be the one to take care of him.

At least, this proved that he most certainly was not allergic to the lovebug.
