Disclaimer: I do not own Beyblade or any of the characters mentioned in this story.

Warnings: The usual stuff you can expect in my stories with a healthy portion of Yaoi.

Couples: There are two main couples in this story and they are KaixTala and BryanXRei.

A/n: This story plot is loosely based on a movie, a favorite movie of mine that is, but I won’t say which although if anyone can guess I’d be happy to hear! If it doesn’t become obvious throughout the story, then I’ll announce it at the end of the last chapter. I’m not sure how many chapters this will eventually work out to but I’ll keep it lengthy enough.

Title: Murder One [This is American slang referring to Murder in the First Degree]

Summary: If it were possible, just about everyone would kill at least once, to know what it feels like to take a life…but the thrill for some lies not within the murder but in getting away with it…Tala and Kai are two senior students with a twisted and sordid friendship and they apply themselves to commiting a murder with the challenge of getting away with it, while feeding off eachother's sinful natures.

Chapter One – Embracing Crime

The smell of a room full of people can be pleasant or unpleasant depending on the people in the room and the amount, however it usually is one too many when even one person’s presence makes you uncomfortable or unwelcome.

Especially when they are all looking at you, not with interest in you as a person, or in you as a human who breathes just the same as they do, but when they look at you as if you are nothing more than the dirt that collects in corners of an unsanitary space…or more specifically the vile dislike experienced by people only when they cannot, do not and will not understand you.

But even that seemed to egotistical a thought for his miniscule existence, standing before the worst type of crowd and receiving the worst type of attention and judgment, before a classroom of ‘fellow’ peers, high school students who know nothing beyond the end of a week and the beginning of their weekends filling their worthless lives with alcohol, sex, partying and drugs…

He slouched as he stood addressing his class, although he had good posture, and he spoke dully and without any motivation despite how much truth he believed in his words and his sharp blue eyes drifted over the faces of the boys and girls with no interest and yet severe dislike well hidden.

Should we say it one last time?

One cannot live fully without embracing suicide and crime.

Say it…” he paused and let his eyes drift over their blank faces again and he received no response,

A pact made with relentless fire that requires that some live...

...others die.”

As he leaned his hands against the wooden podium at the front of the class his nails dug lightly into his palms, slight patches of wetness left on the surface of his notes and making the paper a darker shade at those points where his knuckles rested.

On three. One...

...two...

...three.

Each of us has within us a weak aspect...

...eager to give up freedom to be dominated.” He shifted and his pale blue eyes dropped to the sheets of paper and narrowed slightly,

But we also have a will that desires freedom, that insists...

...on deciding for ourselves, each of us individually...

...what is good...

...and what is evil.” He felt the material of his black long sleeve cotton shirt sticking to him slightly, but it wasn’t a hot sweat it was a slight cold one, brought on by nerves and tension, it had gone unnoticed as he raised his eyes but his jaw was tight.

He again paid no great attention to the class and he turned his head to his right to the teacher, leaning against the side of his desk with a slightly perplexed expression for a brief moment before he stood up.

“Are there any questions?” Tala asked still staring at his teacher who was looking at him with evident discomfort but in a professional manner, the type a teacher would claim was concern if anyone asked.

When the silence settled and the teacher had stared at the thin, pale student for long enough he cleared his throat and turned to the class, adjusting his glasses on his face and glancing at everyone who had seemed to sigh in relief when the report presentation was confirmed to be over.

“Doesn’t anyone have any questions for Tala?” he asked feigning surprise at the class and Tala, who knew that he stuck out amongst his bright and bubbly half witted student peers, barely contained the rolling of his eyes when he turned his scathing glare back to his papers, gathering them in his thin hands, his red knuckles half covered by the shirts long sleeve hems.

The teacher, glancing back and seeing Tala ready to step down or as it were, away, and return to his seat, he felt the need to make a further try and Tala was slightly amused by it but not enough, never enough, to smile.

“Do you all submit to this Darwinian struggle of ego’s?” he took a step closer to the front rows of desks and a pupil or two sat back and sighed, making it clear that it was better just left to fade into the background as another boring class report.

“I got a question…”

A few heads turned to the sudden voice and Tala raised his eyes to stare at the boy who was grinning as he pulled himself up seemingly waking from a long sleep on his desk, stretching in a show of blatant rudeness and Tala leaned on the podium and he clenched his free hand into a tight fist but his face remained apathetic and he spared the teacher a glance.

“Ah, Mr. Hiwatari, you’re awake!” the teacher joked to the student who currently had all the attention on him.

Except it was the sort of attention Tala didn’t get, it was the admiring sort, where all of the students smiled in anticipation of whatever half-arsed, snide comment or lame thought the boy seemed fit to share, it made Tala’s skin crawl to see the empty smiling faces of the students as they watched him smiling and leaning back in his chair to voice his ‘question’.

“Let’s hear it.” The teacher smiled and leaned back against his desk, even he showed more interest now than a minute ago when Tala was speaking and his interested posture brought Tala back to the situation as he glanced at the teacher and blinked, his eyes had previously been lingering on the smug smile that had been aimed at him by Kai Hiwatari.

“What’s a dork like you know about power?” Kai was still smiling and making all the girls fluster when he dropped his expectedly lame remark and Tala didn’t falter or even offer acknowledgement of being offended.

He did look away from the smile on the obvious heart throbs face as he stepped away from the podium with his papers,

“What would an ass like you know about philosophy?” Tala stated more than asked and he made sure to let Kai see his mocking sneer as he was about to walk toward the aisle of desks.

“Keep it civil…” the teacher commented seeing Tala’s face.

Kai wasn’t finished though and he leaned forward on his desk, his smile becoming more devious as he kept his light auburn eyes on Tala’s,
“Are you talking about crime?” he asked and Tala sensed he asked seriously.

“You should wake up more often…” the teacher commented to Kai who ignored him in favor of Tala’s looking at him seriously.

“What about it? -All freedom risks crime. Freedom is crime. It thinks of itself and not of the group.” Tala answered and kept eye contact as he saw Kai’s smile waver but in favor of a smirk much more serious than the cute grin he had been wearing.

“Thank you Tala, very daring.” The annoying voice of diffusion again interfered as he stepped into the view of both Kai and Tala, Tala glancing at him and mumbling a ‘thank you’ as he finally left the front of the class and the eyes of the sickeningly brain dead students.

This time Tala avoided looking at Kai who seemed content to do the same as he looked at the teacher, Tala’s dark jeans nearly catching on a corner of one of the students desks caused a small eruption of snickers he sat down, his desk one back and to the left of Hiwatari’s.

Still slouching as he leaned forward in his seat over his desk, his thin hands gripping the edge as his forearms lied flat across the desk, he kept his eyes down, feeling strands of his deep red hair falling forward as he held his breath unconsciously, trying to ignore the burn in his chest, a buildup of frustration.

“For those of you interested in the source of his report...take a look at Nietzsche…” the teacher’s voice droned on and he was moving about the front of the class.

Tala became aware of eyes on him and he relaxed for a moment to look at the girl who sat next to him, fair skin that looked soft to touch and shoulder length brown hair that looked equally silken and soft, she leaned over and her dark blue eyes held amusement,
“You really need to get laid Bonaparte…” she whispered and Tala didn’t detect as much maliciousness as he had expected from her comment and her mocking name calling but he never the less looked away from her without any anger and his fingers released the grip they had on the desk as he leaned back, folding his arms over his chest and glaring at the blue and black hair of the smug bastard, his chest still burning.

It was the upper suburbia, the upper class homes and the wealthier sorts of people who attended the high school, there were the less than fortunate attending the school, the stoners and such who came and went unseen and occasionally heard swearing and performing for every haughty person’s entertainment, they didn’t seem to mind being the butt of people jokes.

The noise and drama that teenagers brought upon themselves and how the all strived to stand out amongst one another, Tala didn’t want to be among these people and they truthfully didn’t want him among them. He was thin and pale, not unhealthy but simply born with a colorless skin tone as one of his many ‘defects’ the prevented him from fitting in among the beach tanned babes of California.

His lips were a dark shade of pink and so was the skin at his joints and the sensitive skin of his eyes, looking as if they were irritated with a burn at any time of the day, making his pale crystal blue eyes seem sharp and harsh as if they hurt. He didn’t think he was attractive, he didn’t think anything of himself, he knew he had a thin face and that he had a pointed nose and that of he smiled he would look somewhat deranged because of the emptiness of his eyes.

His pasty skin, despite being perfect and unblemished looked dead in a glow of certain light and Tala was reminded of this every time he walked among the plastic sorts that were attending the high school he did. It had been a hot day in California, but as the sun started to set and the wind picked up it became cooler outside and Tala’s thin black shirt wasn’t very warm but the air on his skin was relaxing.

He was in his sanctuary at that moment, having no immediate need to return to his home with parents who probably didn’t notice his absence; Tala had discovered a place worth spending his time in a few months back, along the beach’s coast, very far down, about a 45 minute drive from his school and home.

It was an abandoned cabin house up on a cliff above water; it had once stood on the low rocky cliff proudly at some point before it was condemned as unsafe for residents, since it was just an expensive 2 story wooden structure with its balcony built unsteadily off a cliff, it had to be left uninhabited.

Of course after so many years of storm weathering the place proved to be uninhabitable as a permanent home, but as a secluded untouched place for passing time it was perfect.

The wooden walls of the lower story and upper had diminished and left large pieces and chunks open and exposed to the air, rain and cold, making the lighter wood a darker color over time and the sounds relaxing as the wind whistled loudly above the water below the cliff. The sound of the waves hitting the mass of rock could be clearly heard and the wood creaked as it got darker and darker outside.

Tala rubbed his arms through the shirt material and ignored how the feel of the denim jeans were cold against his skin, his sneakers making the wood creak as he walked away from the fire he’d lit in the broken down fireplace, the only partially brick structure in the house.

The orange of the fire made the dark wood glow and it cast shadows on the walls of the abandoned sofa and table that was the only items beside Tala in the house. He walked over to the cliff side of the house, he was on the lower floor and never attempted to go upstairs before. He stood at a partially open part of the wood, leaning forward against a firm wooden wall next to the opening and staring out at the sea, his mind drifting to his personal thoughts.

The cold feeling of a hard object pressed into the top part of Tala’s pale neck and he instantly broke out in goose bumps when he felt the warmth of a body inches behind him, his pink lips parted when the gun caused a sharp pain in his neck as he was pushed against the wall completely, his back to the person threatening him.

Tala grit his teeth to the cold pain and his hands gripped the wood, he kept his face calm and didn’t try to look back.

“Hey Tala…remember me…?” the voice was clearly amused and Tala recognized the voice and the he heard the smile, the smug smile on Kai Hiwatari’s face rather than actually seeing it.

“What do you want…?” Tala asked calmly and kept his blue eyes looking out at the sea.

“I want to blow your brains out!” the amused reply came with a cold hand gripping the back of his neck forcefully, the gun being re angled to the side of Tala’s face as he was held against the wood, he could feel the cold of the rings Kai wore on his fingers against his neck, leaving indents in his skin.

“And I’ll make it look like a suicide…everyone would believe that you killed yourself.”

Kai’s voice was smooth and his tone was so confident as he leaned in and spoke those words into Tala’s ear, Tala could feel the curved smirk on his lips at that contact.

“You won’t get away with it…” Tala kept his voice even as he felt the hand apply more pressure and Kai laughed in a breathy manner into his ear but it was a curious laugh because he remained silent and Tala elaborated,
“Your shoe prints are unique…they’d be traced back to you.” He stated and his eyes dropped to the heavy expensive black boot behind his sneakered foot, he felt Kai move from is ear and glance at his shoes and Tala continued despite the gun warming to his cheek.

“The fibers on your shirt are all over me.” He mentioned and when he felt the hand on his neck tighten he let a small breath out and added, “…your hair too, it’s called transference.” He kept his voice as even as possible and when Kai remained quiet he went on,

“More importantly, your fingerprints on my neck…where you touched me…” he said the last past in a choked voice and bit his lip when the gun was pressured more and dug into the flesh on his cheek,

“You can’t get finger prints off skin…” Kai argued with mild tension lacing his voice.

“You can with a magna brush, or a finger print cam…” the gun was slowly eased away and Tala felt the pressure on his neck lessened, “…or an iodine gun and silver transfer sheets…” he finished far more calmly and closed his eyes and the finger tips on his neck stopped the pressure and instead ran lightly over his skin and tickled the hairs at the nape of his neck.

The warm body behind him briefly came against him and pressed him to the wall and Tala bit his lip and pressed his forehead firmly against the wood when Kai’s firm body was flush against his, his back against Kai’s chest and Kai’s lower half and legs could be felt in the contours of his own body, the gun in Kai’s hand pressed flat above the opening in the wall as he leaned.

He could feel Kai’s breathing just above his ear before he opened his eyes again when the contact ended and Kai backed off giving Tala room.

“You don’t have the discipline to commit a murder…” Tala said somewhat out of breath and he turned around and leaned his back to the wall and Kai was still less than a foot away and he smiled again, grinning in a way that made his attractive face light up and his light eyes seem to burn a red color with the orange reflecting in them,
“Is that right?” he mockingly asked and leaned forward, cornering Tala again and pressing the gun to his temple, “let’s see…” he mumbled and Tala felt the heat of Kai’s breath on his face before Kai whispered, “…bang…your dead.”

Tala’s blue eyes narrowed and it looked as if Kai’s bright eyes burned his own from the red lining. His eyes glinting when they reflected the fire off to Kai’s left,

“What took you so long…I’ve been waiting.” Tala said abruptly pushing himself off the wall and shoving Kai out of his way.

Kai ran his tongue over his top lip out of habit and spun around watching Tala with a possessive and yet belligerent look in his eyes as Tala walked to the old sofa set out a little ways from the fire place and with a small wooden table in front of the old furniture.

Kai slipped his hand into his jeans pocket as he walked closer, his boots making scraping sounds against the sand on the floor, he extracted a small plastic bag containing a generous amount of marijuana and he wiggled with a grin as Tala caught his action.

Tala gave Kai an irritated look and didn’t bother with the bag Kai had,
“No…I have something better.” He informed the taller teen who seemed a little annoyed himself by Tala’s offish manner and he flopped down on the sofa beside him and placed the bb gun down on the table.

“What is it?” he asked and kept his eyes on the side of Tala’s face and neck as he answered,

“Absinthe.” Tala answered, “Wormwood infused alcohol.”

Kai didn’t look like he was captivated when Tala glanced at him and he leaned forward to tend to the two medium sized glasses with a few blocks of ice inside them on the table and some green liquid, they each had spoons balancing across the rims and balancing on each spoon was a sugar cube. He watched as Tala poured water over the cubes and he watched them dissolve slowly into the green liquid in the glass.

“The molecular structure is almost identical to tetrahedral chlorine.” Tala told him as he placed the water jug down and removed the spoons carefully.

“Tetra what?” Kai asked as he leaned forward and pulled the sleeves of his light material shirt up to his elbows, the shirt was very thin fabric and the front of the shirt was a loose round neck and sat just below Kai’s collar bone, his neck was complimented with a black choker and a silver sharp pendent that rested in the small indent between Kai’s throat tendons even now as Tala stared at the fair throat when Kai leaned forward.

“The active ingredient in Marijuana.” He told Kai as he turned away from staring.

Kai found himself smiling,
“Where did you get it?” he asked eyeing it wearily.

“Poets drank it for inspiration…it’s been illegal since the turn of the century.” he turned his head and met Kai’s eye contact head on.

Kai had no clue what was inside it and he didn’t really care.

“Even better…” he commented and leaned forward, his forearms on his thighs as he stared at the drinks and Tala sat forward as well and they both lifted the glasses and Tala was the first to turn in to face Kai. He turned as well and he stared at Tala who made brief eye contact before looking at his glass, a very powerful and distant look in his blue eyes as Kai watched him.

After a moment of silence Tala looked at Kai again and he nodded,

“To the systematic derangement of our senses…” Tala toasted, raising the glass to eye level, his voice

quiet but serious as he spoke and Kai smiled at Tala,

“…forget the senses…” Kai said in a confident tone as he tapped his glass against Tala’s and he stared straight into Tala’s seemingly darkened blue eyes, “…let’s derange the world…” he winked at Tala before throwing the green awful tasting liquid down his throat.

Tala following suit, swallowing slower but finishing the glass and placing it down on the table, Kai licked his top lip thoughtfully and he glanced at Tala who leaned back and seemed to relax into a comforting though, his nails digging into the jeans material covering his thighs and he eventually made eye contact with Kai again and he saw the question being asked.

“We will.” He answered Kai who placed the glass down very quickly and stood up, moving to stand in front of Tala and leaning over him, trapping Tala to the back of the couch as he leaned his arms either side of his head and gave Tala his best grin,
“When?” he asked.

“Soon.” Tala answered stiffly and his eyes wandered over Kai’s mouth as he smiled, his teeth reflecting light somewhat as well and along the curve of Kai’s jaw and along his neck before darting back to Kai’s probing eyes.

Tala knew Kai had seen this and when Kai’s one arm moved and his hand came to rest slightly on the inside of Tala’s thigh near his knee Tala tensed and his eyes dropped to Kai’s hand, giving Kai space to lean in closer and whisper in his ear,
“What about to tonight?”

He heard Tala’s breath hitch as he trailed his hand upward along Tala’s thigh and Tala shifted as if to move away from the contact but the heat in face made his predicament obvious, Kai grinned and licked his lips close to Tala’s ear also he spoke again, directly against Tala’s ear, leaving a little wetness from his lips on the shell of the ear,
“What about right now?” he asked.

Tala swallowed and before Kai’s hand moved any closer to his crotch he moved his head away,
“I have a Biolog-“ he started to mumbled a little shaken and he was startled when Kai pushed away angrily,
“Fuck your Biology!” he didn’t really shout so much as it was a loud statement filled with exasperation. Tala hadn’t actually jumped but he moved himself more upright and kept his face calm even when Kai started pacing and holding his head.

“You always have excuses!” he still sounded exhausted and when he pulled his hands from his head his sleeves fell back down and Kai was still smiling only it was a bitter one, “…let’s forget it.” He said and threw his hands up in surrender, but his jaw was tense and Tala sat up a bit looking annoyed yet uncertain.

“We’ve been planning this for months.” He said still quietly but his voice held a bit more conviction.

“I’m sick of planning.” Kai told him and stepped forward making Tala recoil slightly inward, leaning his arms between his legs and looking at Kai’s feet, his fingers tingling from Kai’s touches and also the effect of the absinthe.

Kai stepped back again as if he were restless and he shook his head,
“That’s all it is with you!” Kai’s voice was mocking and Tala looked up at him now even though he remained sitting that way and Kai was smiling at him half heartedly but still mocking,
“Its talk…and plans and dreams!” Kai seemed to linger on the last word and made a scoffing sound.

Tala sat up and brought his hands which had started shaking, up to his face, brushing back a few stray pieces of his dark red hair and then he lightly touched his ears as if to cover them, gripping the fabric of his shirt in his palms.

“You’re a jerk off…” Kai finished and he shook his head at Tala, “…so jerk off.” He started toward the creaky exit, it was pitch black outside now and the moon lit the ground.

Tala had begun rocking slightly as his thigh were Kai touched left a horrible after effect of uncertainty as he watched Kai walk out his sight and the heavy booted footsteps neared the exit and then he stood up,
“Kai…wait.” His voice was weak and when he said ‘wait’ he sounded like he was on the verge of either tears or whining.

He watched Kai turn around at the entrance to look at him seemed to be anxious and his blue eyes darted around quite a bit before he finally looked at Kai, slipping his hands into his pockets,
“Just…be patient…” he was asking and the soft tone sounded a little like pleaded to Kai.

But he said nothing and Kai fiddling with a ring on his middle finger for a brief moment while staring at Tala, before he walked out without saying anything.

Okay, so that’s the first chapter, it’s a start. As all writers and readers alike know; reviews are very appreciated and welcomed. If anyone’s figured out the movie, then yay! I do plan to change scenes and adapt it and I also plan an alternate ending…of sorts.

I'll probably update faster after I see a minimum of 6 reviews, they make it happen faster and chapter two is already under way, so come on people, drop a review!

Thank you for reading!
