Hey ALL thanks for reading this. This is my first ever fan fic so I really hope you like it. Here's a brief summary: it is twist of Beauty and the Beast with a Twilight theme…enjoy :)

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I do not own twilight or any of its characters. Stephenie Meyer does,:( but doesn't mean a girl can't dream right? RIGHT!

Beauty and the Beast: Twilight

Chapter One: Riches to Rags

Bella's POV

A gentle breeze passed through the garden, my garden. This garden was the only place I could truly call my own, I shared everything else with my two older sisters Lauren and Jessica.

The only reason I was allowed this garden was that they didn't want to get dirty tending the flowers. I didn't mind at all, in fact I loved to work in the flower beds and watch the plants grow and blossom creating my personal Eden.

It was the end of a very hot summer and the flowers were just beginning to wilt, but their heavenly scent still hung in the air. Bright red poppies rippled in the breeze, the sweet scent of honey suckle and roses swirled around me and twittering birds hopped from branch to branch on the hawthorn tree.

I sat there with my eyes closed and breathing in the fragrance and lost myself in another one of my daydreams.

I was walking down a winding path in a beautiful garden. As I walked on I came across a beautiful meadow filled with wildflowers. At the end of the meadow was a small pool with a gurgling stream rushing through it. Slipping off my shoes, I stepped into the waters which sent a shiver through my body from the cold. Just then I felt two strong arms wrap around my waist and felt lips placing a light kiss on my neck. I shivered again, but this time it wasn't from the cold. I began to turn, longing to see the face of this mysterious stranger, my prince...

"Bella, where are you my dear? Come inside, I need to talk to you." My father's voice snapped me back to reality. With a sigh I rose from the ground making my way inside. Every time I'm about to see the face of my handsome prince, I'm interrupted. Maybe I'm just not meant to meet him after all.

Our house is quite grand as my father is a wealthy merchant, but it does not have any homey features and I have always found it a very cold and miserable place. I suppose that could be because of the people living here. My sisters are like the house, they look nice from the outside. They are not beautiful, but they pretty and carry themselves with an air of importance, but inside they are just as cold and unwelcoming. The only ray of light in this house for me is my father, Charles, or Charlie, which was my nickname for him.

In the sitting room, my two sisters were sitting side by side with identical sneers on their faces. "Out kneeling in the mud again, Bella?" Jessica mocked. I ignored her and sat in a chair on the opposite side of the room, turning to face the door waiting for my father.

"You now, Bella, I think you belong in the garden, dogs really shouldn't be in the house," Lauren jeered. Before I had a chance to reply, Charlie walked in. I knew straight away that something was wrong. The usual crinkles around Charlie's eyes from smiling were replaced by deep ridges on his forehead. He paced the room once before coming to a stop in the centre between my sisters and me.

"Girls, I'm afraid I have some bad news," he began then paused as if trying to decide how to reveal this news. "As you know, ten ships carrying all of my goods for this year were due to come this week. Well this morning I got news that nine of them have been wrecked on the coast by storms and the last has gone missing." He began pacing again and rubbing his hand across his eyes, he suddenly looked years older from the pressure.

"Daddy," shrieked Jessica. "What are you trying to tell us?" That girl can be so dim sometimes, I understood perfectly. Dad's whole business depended on those ships. He spent most of last year's income on those goods, hoping to make a bigger profit off of them. We had just lost our wealth.

"Well Princess, I had a lot of money riding on those ships and now all that money is gone. It isn't going to be easy, but I'm sure if we stick together we can make it." He looked up at us hopefully.

Before I could rush up to him and tell him everything would be alright Lauren stormed out of the room, screaming curses at him. Jessica broke down in tears, sobbing that she wouldn't be able to buy any new dresses or jewels. Charlie's face lost all hope that was once there and he now looked like a broken man.

I sighed and hugged Charlie. "It's okay," I whispered. "I'll help you get through this." Charlie flashed me a grateful smile before returning to his worried frown. It was going to take a lot of work to fix this problem.

Well... Yes? No? Complete Failure?

Please review and tell me what you thought Buh Bye for now :)
