I do not own any of these characters. They belong strictly to the wonderful Jeaniene Frost. I am only borrowing them to play with temporarily.
The Phone Call
I was having a very pleasant dream that Catherine was no longer involved with that creature. The ringing of my phone interrupted what was a very nice wedding sequence. I fumbled around until I found it.
"Hello?" I mumbled.
With a screech I came wide awake. "No, it can't be you. Tell me you aren't calling me!"
"Yes, it's Bones . . . "
"You filthy, undead murdering demon . . . " I started but he cut me off.
"Now really, that's such a foul name to call me . . . "
I interrupted him. "I cannot believe you have the utter gall to call me! Why don't you do everyone a favor and die permanently."
" . . . um hmm, same to you, I'm sure . . . " he continued. I could hear Catherine in the background demanding that he give her the phone. Apparently he didn't comply with her request as he continued speaking.
"Actually, Justina, I didn't just ring you to chat about what an undead murderer I was . . . "
"Oh, you are so much more than that all right. You are an animal, even lower than an animal, you are a fiend. A filthy degenerate . . . whore!"
"Right, degenerate whore as well. Did I ever tell you my mum was one? No? Oh, blimey, I come from a long line of whores, in fact . . . "
Oh my God, please tell me I did not just hear him say that. For a second, I could hear nothing but the pounding of my heart as my mind went totally blank.
I realized he was still speaking, " . . . called to give you the good news. I asked your daughter to marry me and she accepted. Congratulations, I will officially be your son-in-law. Now, do you want me to call you Mum straightaway, or wait until after the wedding?"
I strangled on the comments trying to get out of my mouth all at once. Everything started going black as I heard Catherine again. "Mom? Are you there? Mom . . . "
The last thing I heard as I hit the floor was, "You might want to give her a moment, Kitten. I believe she fainted."
