Author’s Notes: This takes place after Sirius’s death. Yes, I cried when Sirius died. ): How could J.K. Rowling kill off poor Sirius!? … Well I hope you enjoy. (:
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of the characters in it… Nor do I own the lyrics to Without You…
Warning: This story has some mild slash, so if you don't like slash get your arse out of here.
The tears dry, without you.
Life goes on, but I’m gone.
Cause I die, without you.
It was hard for Remus to finally accept the fact that Sirius Black was never coming back. He couldn’t believe that Sirius was really… dead.
Never again would Remus hear Sirius’s warm voice, or see his handsome face again, or God forbid hear of one Sirius’s ridiculous jokes.
After all they had been through together since the day they had met years and years ago on the Hogwarts Express.
“Do you mind if we sit here,” Asked an eleven year old Sirius Black, “everywhere else is full?” Remus Lupin gave him and his friend a nod and continued to look out the window, already beginning to regret his decision of coming to Hogwarts.
“I’m Sirius Black,” Sirius introduced himself with a smile, “and this is James Potter.” He motioned to the boy with messy black hair and glasses.
Both boys smiled at Remus waiting for him to introduce himself. But they’re waiting had been done in vain for Remus did not state his name; instead he continued to stare out the window.
But Sirius was not one to give up and asked the smaller boy, “What’s your name?” Remus looked away from the window to look at the two boys sitting across from him in the compartment.
“Remus Lupin,” He mumbled.
Sirius grinned and moved from sitting next to James to Remus. “Well Remus, what house are you hoping to get in?”
Remus shrugged, he had never really given it much thought.
“Well I for one,” Sirius begun, “will be happy in any house expect for Slytherin.” Sirius looked at James, “And you?”
James smiled and stuck out his chest, “I belong in Gryffindor.”
They both laughed and Sirius wrapped one arm around Remus in a friendly manner and said, “So what do you think you’ll be placed in? Gryffindor for the brave,” Again James stuck out his chest, “Or Ravenclaw for the clever, or maybe even Hufflepuff for the loyal. I highly doubt you’ll be placed in Slytherin though.”
At this comment Remus turned to look at Sirius “What’s Slytherin for? Because so far it doesn’t sound like there’s a house for me.”
Sirius didn’t answer instead James did. “Slytherin is for the evil. It’s the worst house to be placed in.”
Sirius laughed and said in a cheerful tone, “You don’t seem evil. Hopefully we’re in the same house.”
And for the first time since stepping foot on the Hogwarts Express, Remus was glad that he had decided to go to Hogwarts.
Never would Remus have guessed what knowing Sirius Black would have led to. He never would have thought they would fall in love and become lovers.
But it did happen. They did fall in love. And they did become lovers.
“You really have no idea how much I love you do you?” sixteen year old Sirius Black asked his boyfriend as he lay in his lap.
The couple was sitting underneath one of their favorite trees, watching the sun reflect off of the lake’s surface, and just enjoying each other’s company.
Remus looked down at Sirius and whispered, “I think I have a clue.” Sirius smiled up at his lover, taking in all his beauty.
They shared a small kiss and continued to watch the sunset.
“Rem, I promise to always be by your side. I’ll never leave you. I promised to always be there when you need me.”
The couple smiled at each other and shared another sweet kiss.
Sirius had promised to always be by Remus’s side, he promised to always be there when he needed him. He shouldn’t of made promises he couldn’t keep.
Sirius broke his promise twice. The first being when he had been locked up in Azkaban for twelve years leaving Remus all alone, having to believe that Sirius really had been responsible for James and Lily’s death and that he had murdered Peter.
Remus had needed him so much during those twelve years, the memories of their moments together always going through his mind even when he tried to not think about them.
Then there was now, Sirius was dead and though Remus needed him now more than ever, he wasn’t going to come back. For the rest of Remus’s life he would have to deal with the fact that Sirius was gone forever.
It was weird to just think about it… No more Sirius.
The moment Remus realized that Sirius had fallen through the veil he had felt a part of him die along with Sirius. He felt like he shouldn’t be here anymore, living out his life without Sirius’s hand to hold.
But Remus knew that he had to move on, get over Sirius’s death. It seemed impossible to him though.
How could he keep going without Sirius?
But he knew that he had to, he had to help fight against Voldemort, and he had to protect Harry.
Sirius would have wanted him to keep on fighting, Remus knew that, but it still hurt. Hurt like hell really.
But Remus was going to be strong, he was going to put on a brave face and not show the emotions that he felt.
He was going to keep going, even if the other half of him was gone.
Author’s Note: Well it isn’t exactly the best one shot out there but I like it and I hope you do to. At the end I like how I refer to Remus and Sirius as a whole and now that Sirius is gone he’s only half the person he was. Haha… Ya so how about sending a review to me? ;) I’d really appreciate. And before I leave, I must say that this was a kind of “at the moment” kind of thing. I thought of this idea and I just had to write it. Lol, bye!
P.S. The lyrics at the top are from ‘Without You’ from the Broadway show RENT. (:
