“I’m here to see Captain Jenko, is he here?” Tom Hanson asked. He was standing in the Chapel and was feeling a little nauseous. He really didn’t know why he was actually doing this.

Oh, yeah…because he screwed up on his first patrol.

He quickly ran a hand through his hair. The guy in front of him was weirding him out a little. He looked like one of those punks that most lowlifes pretend to be or act like. He really didn’t like this place so far.

Eventually he did find Captain Jenko, even if the older man was kinda nuts. Jenko started showing him around after that, in a way only a man named ‘Jenko’ could, and he met a pretty black girl named Judy Hoffs, a Japanese guy named Harry Ioki, and found out that the big guy he met before is Douglas Penhall.

“So…is that it?” Tom turned to Jenko. “I mean, that seems to be not that many people for what we’re going to be doing. Don’t you think?” He raised an eyebrow.

Jenko gave him a mocking look, and patting his shoulder, “Look here, sport, you’re right, it isn’t that many people, but guess what? We have one more! So cool your jets man,” Jenko rolled his eyes and set about towards another desk Tom failed to see.

When they got close enough, Tom could see a person leaning back in their chair, holding it up on the back feet. They had a top hat on their head with long wavy brown-ish black-ish hair flowing out of it, down to their mid back. In the hand that was out to the side he could see they had a radio on, with head phones, which was probably why they didn’t hear Jenko stomp over to them.

“Hey-a there, dearie! We got a new guest!” and with that he slammed his hand onto the hat, causing it to engulf their entire head. The person shot forward in their seat, sitting straight, and dropped the radio.

Tom could hear curses leave the hat’s occupant, but the exact words were muffled a bit. What he could hear though wasn’t that pretty.

They were able to lift the hat up halfway, still talking/yelling, “Why would you do that?! Don’t you know it’s impolite to--,” she was cut off and Tom was then greeted with bright green eyes. They both stared at each other, before the girl turned to Jenko, keeping her eyes on Tom.

“Who’s this?” she glimpsed at Jenko for a second before returning her gaze back to Tom.

“This, my little spitfire, is Mr. Tom Hanson, he will be another cop on our little force,” he smiled at her, patting her on her now-hatless head. She scowled at him, before once again looking at Tom.

Jenko turned to him too, “Sport, this here, is Miss--,” she cut him off, holding her hand out to Tom, “Liz Berns, nice to meet ya,” she gave him a smile, which he returned, shaking her hand in turn.

Jenko cleared his throat, a little miffed that he was interrupted. “Well, then, now that you’re acquainted with everyone, we’re gonna have a meeting in about 20 minutes so get everyone together, ‘kay?” He directed the last bit to Liz, who replied with a half-salute.

Once he left, she stood up and looped her arm through Tom's, and started leading them over towards where the others were.

“So, I heard about what happened, broke your fellow patrol officer’s nose on the first patrol? Nice,” she sent a smirk his way, which he replied with a slight frown.

She noticed and said looking back forward again, “Don’t worry, it happens to all of us. On my first patrol, you know what I did?” she looked over at him which he did too.

“What’d you do?” he asked, curiously, it couldn’t have been as bad as him.

She smirked again, mischief sparkling in her eyes, “I shot my partner in the foot,” she was probably going to continue but before he could find out, she was lifted into the air.

“Ah, yes! I remember this! Dear little Lizzie had a little bitty problem with guns back then!” Tom saw that Doug had put his head between her legs and lifted her onto his shoulders, like a father would do for his kids, only this was two 22 year olds, both grown adults, so it was mildly different.

“AH! Put me down you big brute!” Liz grabbed onto his hair, yanking to hold on. “What is wrong with you?!” she looked down in fear that gravity would be cruel and pull her down.

“Ohh, what’s wrong, little Lizzy? Afraid of heights now?” Doug smirked up at her from underneath the hair she had made fall in her haste to keep upright.

She glared down at him, “No! I just don’t like the fact that someone as clumsy and idiotic as you holds my life in their hands,” at his hurt and confused look, she improvised, even though she knew he was faking the hurt, “You could drop me!”

“Oh,” he smirked again, “That’s all? Wow, who’d’ve thought that our tough Lizzy would be like this?”

She glared even more, “Oh, yea? Like what?” she smirked and yanked a certain piece of his hair, causing him to yelp.

“Hey, you’re doing that on purpose!”

She smirked even wider, “Yea? So what if I am?” she yanked again.

He sighed, “Fine, fine, I’ll put you down.”

She smiled sweetly at him, “Thank you!” and patted his head. He snorted and reached back and put his hands on her waist, lifting her up and setting her back on the ground in front of him.

“There, ya happy?” he smiled mockingly at her. She turned to him and said, “Yep!” and kept smiling sweetly at him.

They stared at each other in silence, causing tension to build up, until…

They both burst out laughing and high-fived one another.

“Dougy, dear, you’re such a dork!” she beamed at him. “Yes, it seems I am, and you, my dear, are a girly-girl!”

She gasped and smacked him lightly on the chest, before smiling again. She looked up to see Jenko walking towards them. She and Doug turned to him, and with a serious face, clicked the feet together and saluted him, mockingly.

Jenko didn’t seem to care, he just brushed them off. He just motioned for them all to sit down. When they did he began.

“Alrighty, then, since you are going to be playing the part of a teenager, you need to look like a teenager. Understand, Hanson?” Jenko shot Tom a mocking smirk. Tom scowled back.

Jenko turned to Judy and Liz sitting on the opposite side of Penhall and Hanson. Ioki was sitting opposite of Jenko himself.

He pointed at the two females, “I want you two to help him out a little, kay? I’m sure you guys’ve been wanting to mess with his hair since he’s gotten here.” He smirked for real at their excited expressions.

Liz smirked over at Hanson, who was sitting in front of her and said, “Hell, yea! It’s just so neat and looks…a little gelled actually,” she squinted and leaned forward, as if trying to tell if it was or not.

Tom put up both hands to his hair, as though trying to protect it. He pouted, causing his face to take on its boyish charm. “Leave my hair alone, it’s not that bad,” he crossed his arms, still pouting.

Judy and Liz laughed. Judy spoke up this time, “Well, we’re going to have to fix it up some, so you are going to have to say goodbye to the way it is now,” she smiled at him, indicating she was joking, but not joking at the same time.

Penhall laughed with Ioki at Tom’s ‘misfortune’. Liz then stood up, “Ok, then, is that all for now?” without waiting for an answer, she and Judy walked over to Tom and lifted him out of his chair. On their way out Liz yelled back, “if so, then we’ll just be on our way.”

And they were gone.

Judy and Liz were standing in the dressing room lobby, waiting for Tom to finish dressing. Both were anxious to see if he looked right or not. After all, the guy is basically a nerdy adult.

They heard rustling and looked over to the cloth that separated them from him.

He walked out, all decked out in punk teen clothes, holding his arms out with a dissatisfied expression on his face. Liz and Judy looked at each other and then back at Tom. They smiled.

He looked like a teen.

Now, all they needed to do was fix his hair.

They took him to a hair cuttery, and had to repeat the process of waiting. Again, it was boring and Liz had managed to count at least 1089 tiles on the ceiling, until Tom had walked back out. This time, his hair was in a hairdo most teens were wearing these days, and it made him look way more attractive in Liz’s opinion.

Judy and Liz looked at each other and nodded for a job well done.

Jenko had already tested Tom out, and he had definitely failed. But Jenko still gave him an assignment, and today Tom would be going undercover at Emerest High as ‘a disciplinary transfer from Wilcox with a suspected drug problem and a very bad attitude.’

She would be going along with him just in case he did something stupid. Jenko said it was “just in case.” She didn’t care much; she just wanted to do something.

So that morning she and him piled into his blue Mustang and went to school. She was dressed in a stereotypical punk girl outfit and him in his jeans and jacket ensemble. She was to stick to the shadows though, not to make any scenes.

He pulled into a parking space near the front of the school, and when getting out she heard a voice call out: “Hey, you can’t park there!”

They both got out and Tom turned the car that sat behind them. A black guy with sunglasses sat at the wheel with his lackey in the next seat. Tom locked the car doors and said, “Oh, yea? Well I’m new and I didn’t know.” He turned to them and gave them a charming smile.

The guy behind the wheel nodded, “Well now you know. Now move that ratty piece of tin.” He pointed at the Mustang. “I don’t want it stinkin’ up my spot.”

Tom just ignored him and started to walk away; Liz started to also but was stopped, once again, when she heard the guy yell: “Hey!” and get out of his car. A fight was gonna happen.

A crowd started to gather and the guys didn’t seem to notice. Liz stayed next to the trunk of Tom’s car and watched the happenings. The black guy walked up to Tom and said menacingly, “You don’t want to park it there, might get hurt.”

Tom looked away then back forward, “Me or the car?”

The lackey walked up beside Tom and added, “You heard the man…Move it!” he then flicked his cigarette that was still burning at Tom. Tom merely picked it up and briefly put it to his mouth then promptly stuck it down the lackey’s pants. “Thanks man, but I’m trying to quit.”

The lackey freaked out and the crowd let out a few ‘Ooh’s’ and laughs.

The main guy walked up to Tom’s car and then kicked it. “Move it!” Tom glared at him for a second before walking over to the guy’s red Ferrari. He leaned on it, and with his keys, wrote out: NO

The guy calmly walked over, but his posture showed that he was seething. Liz caught Tom’s eye for a second, then he turned back to the man to hear him say, “You’re dead, boy” then throw a punch. Which Tom quickly ducked and grabbed the guy’s shirt, throwing him around, until they both ended up fighting with their backs on the hood of the red car.

The fight raged on until a teacher came and broke it up. “All right, who started it?” the teacher asked once they both calmed down.

Tom sat on the hood, “Start what? We’re friends,” he kept his gaze carefully on the black kid. The teacher also turned to the kid. “What, with Tyrell?”

Tyrell pulled his pants up and adjusted his jacket, not at all bothered by the comment. The teacher turned back to Tom, “Who’re you?”

Tom, keeping his gaze still on Tyrell, replied, “My name’s Tom Bower, I’m new here.” The teacher scoffed, “That’s a hell of a first impression,” he looked back at Tyrell, “Alright who started this?”

Nobody answered. The teacher chuckled, “Alright, both of you, Schaffer’s office!” He tried leading Tyrell but the kid just pushed him off and walked away by himself, Tom just followed. The crowd realized that nothing else interesting was going to happen to with groans they all departed, leaving her to stand at the Mustang and hold in her laughter.

She didn’t see Tom till after class in the hallway. She caught up with him to tell him that nothing real interesting happened, you know, ordinary procedure in being a cop. She found him at his locker, but instead of getting his books he was staring at something, and he was stark white. She ran up to him and glimpsed that way, it was a boy at his own locker, and he was looking this way.

But he wasn’t looking at them; he was talking to someone behind them. “Come on, Waxer, leave me alone, man!” he then closed his locker and walked away. Liz barely had time to look back before Tom was grabbed by the shoulder and dragged away. She looked and saw Tyrell walking him away. Or Waxer apparently...She silently walked behind them.

“You’re going to like it here at Emerest, boy,” Waxer was saying. “You’re going to like it a lot if you like dying.” Then he walked away, leaving Tom standing there.

She walked up next to him and put her hand right where Waxer’s was. She looked at him, “What was that about? With the other boy?”

He didn’t answer her until they got back to head quarters. Apparently he already met the kid when he was on his, uh, last case. Before he broke his partner’s nose, that is. His name is Kenneth Weckerly. And apparently this Kenneth owes Waxer a lot of money, which they were to now find out how much.

Next day in class, she didn’t pay attention at all. She was wondering about the case. Harry and Tom went and staked out Kenneth’s place last night and found him stealing. Then they ended up getting into a car chase with Tom’s old partner, Officer Donavan, and Kenny. Kenny got out without being caught, but Harry and Tom lost him.

Whatever this kid was doing though, she would bet anything it was out of fear. No way would this kid be that stupid to do it on his own will. Well, he might be, she thought, she’s seen it enough during her other cases.

She snapped out of it when she heard the teacher speaking to a student. He then caught a girl tossing a note to Tom. She smirked, this outta be good.

Tom was making a mockery of diagramming sentences and was kept back after class. She waited for him outside the door. When he walked out though, he was immediately carried off by the girl that passed him the note. Liz watched as he threw a helpless expression back at her as an apology before he was dragged around the corner. When he was out of sight, she sighed dramatically and banged the back of her head against the door, looking up at the ceiling, dramatically.

She then felt her own arm being grabbed, and looking up she saw none other than Waxer holding her arm. He took her away from the classroom into the throng of the hallways. She tottered behind him, confused at what he wanted. She had never talked to him before at all, and she thought she was doing a pretty good job at ‘keeping to the shadows’, since no one, and she meant no one, talked to her.

When he reached an empty corner, where his lackey was waiting, he turned around and slammed her into one of the lockers in the innermost corner. He leaned in near to her and when his head was next to her ear, he whispered, “You Bower’s girl?”

She just stood there, not answering. It’s not that she was putting up a front…she just didn’t know what she was to him…she guessed his friend, but Waxer didn’t need to know that. He growled and pulled back, “Well?” he glared at her, to which she returned the gesture.

“So what if I am? What does it matter to you?” she scowled. He just smirked, “So does that mean that you are, or not?”

She rolled her eyes, then put her hands on his chest. Leaning forward she placed her mouth near his ear and whispered, “Not,” then pushed him off her. Walking away as fast as she could, she heard him coming after her. Quickly maneuvering around the teenagers, she got to her locker and looked around, thinking she lost him. When she turned back she saw him right behind her.

She gasped, “Jeez! What do you want?” she curled her hands into fists by her side. He placed a hand on her locker right above her shoulder, locking her in place, once again. “Tell your guy to watch himself, or he’ll find himself in a place he won’t want to be in,” with that he kissed her cheek roughly and walked away.

She looked after him with confused eyes. Is that all he had to say? That’s what he went through great lengths to tell her?...Well not great lengths, per se, but you know what she mean…

She sighed, slumping against the lockers, and repeated her earlier action, by slamming the back of her head to her locker.

She was waiting for Tom at his car. She was leaning up against the door and was staring off into space. She heard a commotion a ways off and turned her head in that direction. Waxer was messing with Kenny and Tom was walking in on them.

Crap!

She never got to tell Tom about the warning! She started over there, but another thing caught her eye. She turned her head once more and saw the principal, Mr. Shaffer walking that way. She looked at Tom and then at the principal in visa versa, finally deciding to be the diversion.

She ran over to Shaffer and started talking about a subject she thought would catch his interest: sports. Worst part was though, that she was right, and he went off on a fanatic speech about football. Finally she was able to get him to walk the opposite way and when he was out of sight, she looked over at the almost-fight. Waxer had a switchblade in his hand and Tom had just thrown down his books.

Crap!

She ran over where they were and when no one was looking stepped in front of Waxer, her back to Tom. She stopped the knife in midair with one of her hard text books. She had always known they were good for something…

She threw the book away, with the knife still imbedded in it. She didn’t even spare him another glance before grabbing Tom’s arm and walking away. Behind them she heard Waxer yelling, “Better watch your back!”

She and Tom didn’t speak at all on the way back.

Tom and Ioki staked out Waxer this time and Tom ended up rear-ending Waxer in a taxi he was in. Waxer had seen him too, so that ruined that plan. Good thing though, Waxer didn’t suspect anything. Kenny was found at school the next day lying on the floor in the guy’s locker room. He had done some drugs that Waxer had given him. Well, she and the rest of the Jump Street crew think so, at least. Kenny was sent to the hospital and the guy that Waxer met up with the night before was arrested by Ioki, Penhall, and Jenko.

Tom was visiting Kenny at the hospital, she didn’t go though. Mostly because she didn’t know the kid and he didn’t know her, and also because she didn’t want to.

Judy and Penhall went to Waxer’s hideout to catch them with drugs. She was going to go with them, but Jenko made her wait out in the van.

“What?! Why can’t I go with them?”

Jenko rolled his eyes and readjusted his hands on the wheel, “Because, as you told us, he knows you’re with Hanson, and he’ll be suspicious of that. We can’t have you blow this, got it, dearie?” he looked over at her. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms and huffed. She listened in on what was happening to Doug and Judy. Only Judy was allowed in. Jenko radioed Tom and Ioki, who were in another car, and informed them. A moment later, they found the wire on Judy.

Liz grabbed the radio, “ROLL IN!”

Jenko ran the van through the wall, and when he stopped, she and he got out on their sides with their guns, using the doors on the car as shields.

“Hoffs?” Jenko shouted. “I’m alright!” came the reply back. He then tried negotiating with them to drop their guns. The lackey didn’t listen and shot at Jenko, who retaliated by shooting him in the stomach. Tom then crashed in and hit Waxer, who rolled off the car and ran off.

Tom just ran after him, and the rest of the gang caught up with him after gathering the other criminals up. Jenko grabbed Waxer and took him to the police car in cuffs. She and Judy stood next to Tom, who was kneeling on the floor panting. He had just run 2 miles almost, so he had a reason to be wheezing.

“I guess white guys can run long distances,” Judy joked. Tom forced a smile, “Very funny,” he looked over to where Jenko was taking Waxer and called out, “W-wait! I still need to finish reading him his rights.”

Liz rolled her eyes, “Hanson, I swear, you never stop being a by-the-book-cop, ever, do ya?” she smirked at him. He looked up through narrowed eyes. She narrowed hers too, “I like that in a man,” she purred in her best imitation of Judy. Said girl laughed and walked away. Liz, after giving one more soft look to Tom, turned around, and followed her example.

She felt his eyes following her all the way to the car.

She was silently laughing at Doug’s rant. He was going off on how much he hated that Tom was going to get all the glory and get a ‘golden star on his report card’ for this, and some other stuff. And while he was saying this, she, Judy, and Ioki were staring directly at Tom.

When Doug slid down the pole, he came face to face with him too and cut himself off with an, “oh…”, and Liz had to bite her lip to keep from bursting out laughing.

Tom smirked at him, “I didn’t think we got report cards, Doug.” Judy cut in, “If Penhall takes that much time to stop and complain about another cop, that usually means he’s impressed.” She looked at Doug, “And you should be.”

Ioki stood up straight, “Well, if he’s not, then I am,” he walked over to Tom and held out his hand for a high-five, “Good work, man,” Tom put his hand out to slap his hand, but then pulled away at the last second; Ioki just laughed. Judy walked over and squeezed Tom’s shoulder, and then Liz walked up to Tom and patted his cheek, and shot him a sarcastic smile. When she passed Douggy, she patted him on the head; he just waved her hand away.

She had a feeling things were going to work out for everyone, though. She even left work that day with a smile on her face.

Here’s the revised version of this chapter, so hopefully u read this over! ^^ in my opinion its better…and I bet anyone else will agree! :)
