Rain, that was the first thing he felt on his face after the explosion. Water, the element of life, and it slowly worked its magic on him, waking him up. His eyelids fluttered, and he saw a blurry image of his surroundings. He groaned. “This mission is very dangerous,” Tsunade-sama said. Sasuke nodded, unafraid of the dangers that awaited him, he was after all, a shinobi. “Sakura will be with you as well, since her medical ninjutsu rivals my own,” Tsunade continued. “You two leave tonight, if you aren’t back within forty-eight hours, I’ll send Lee and Tenten after you to bring you or your bodies back to Konoha, understand?” Tsunade looked at him, her light brown eyes borrowing holes into his soul.
“Hai,” he whispered hollowly.

Slowly, Sasuke rolled onto his stomach, mentally checking himself for any injuries. Once he was sure he was able to stand, he slowly pushed himself up onto his feet. He swayed but caught himself on a nearby tree. He gasped when he felt a sharp pain in his side. He instinctively covered the wound with his free hand, drawing it back after a few moments to see it covered in blood. Gently, he ran his finger over it and determined it was nothing more than a swallow gash, and that he’ll live. “Sakura!” he shouted. Scanning the rain drench surroundings for his pink haired wife. “Sakura!” he shouted again, yet there was still no answer. He cupped his hands to his mouth. “Sakura!” he bellowed. He began to worry. He activated his Sharingan, scanning the wilds for some sort of movement, looking for his wife chakra signature. “Sakura! Answer me!” he screamed, panic beginning to well upside him. “SAKURA!” he ran up the tree. “SAKURA! SAKURA!” he looked around. He began jumping from branch to branch, calling her name. Finally, he heard amidst the rumble of the thunder, a weak moan.
Sakura looked up when Sasuke walked into the eerily empty Uchiha mansion. “Sasuke-kun!” she shouted happily, her bare feet slapping the polished wood floor lightly. “Sasuke-kun! Its so good to see you!” she threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly, nuzzling his neck, drinking in his familiar scent. “So,” she stepped back a bit, giggling when she felt his arms around her waist. “What did Tsunade-sama want?”
“I’ll get to that in a moment, when did the doctor say?” he asked, a smile on his lips. Sakura shook her head.
“I want to know what the Hokage had to say,” she pressed him. Sasuke laughed slightly.
“Okay, okay,” he said as his impatient wife stared at him. “She has a mission for us,” Sasuke said.
“A mission?” she blinked. “For us? Are you sure? She doesn’t want you and another ANBU member to go?”
“No,” he shook his head. “She said that you are coming with me because your medical ninjutsu rivals hers,” he nuzzled her cheek. “It’s a rather simple one, we have to kill some lord from some unknown village that has been giving Suna some harassment, it’s a quick, get in, get out type of mission,” he smiled.
“Then why do I need to come?” Sakura asked. Sasuke frowned.
“I thought you wanted to go on a mission?” Sasuke asked. “I mean, just last week you were begging Tsunade-sama to give you a mission!”
“Something came up,” Sakura whispered.
“The only dangerous part about it is that this lord is guarded by grass-nin,” Sasuke shrugged. “But that shouldn’t be too much of a problem,” he pulled his pink haired wife back into his arms. “So, what did the doctor say?” he asked huskily.
“Nothing, we better pack if we want to leave by tonight,” Sakura said, pulling free of Sasuke’s embrace. Sasuke looked at her with a frown, before shrugging.

Sasuke followed the moan, which grew louder the closer he got. Finally, he came to a down tree, and to his horror, he saw his pink haired wife, pinned beneath it. “Sakura!” he screamed, his voice sounded panicked, his breath ragged as he raced to her side. “Sakura! Sakura!” he knelt by her side, lifting her head gently. “Sakura, speak to me!” he blinked, trying to hold back his tears. He didn’t want to lose her; losing Itachi was nearly unbearable, and he didn’t think he’d be able to survive if he lost Sakura. “Sakura, please speak to me!”
“Ermm,” Sakura closed her eyes, her face twisted in pain. “Sasuke,” she whispered.
“I’m here, I’m here,” he stroked her face. “I’m here,” Sasuke said.
“Where…” she struggled to breath. “Where is the tree?” she asked. Sasuke looked up and stared at the rather large trunk of the tree.
“On…On…On your chest,” he pushed down the bile rising in the back of your throat.
“Good…good,” she nodded, touching her cheek to her husband’s knee.
“No!” Sasuke was shaking. “This isn’t good! A tree is on your chest! How can this be good?”
“The…the…the baby will be okay,” she whispered softly.
“The baby?” Sasuke blinked. “What baby?”
“I’m…I’m…I’m pregnant,” she whispered before coughing blood. “The tree is crushing my chest, you have to get it off me before its too late,” Sakura looked at Sasuke.
“Right,” he placed Sakura’s head gently on the ground. He walked up to the tree and wedged his fingers beneath it. “By the way…how are you holding this tree off your chest?”
“Chakra…but its growing weaker, I’m running low on chakra,” Sakura said. Sasuke’s black eyes grew wide realizing that if she ran out of chakra before he got the tree off of her, the weight will crush her and then…he closed his eyes refusing to think about that. He squatted, digging his feet into the soft earth. Taking a deep breath and focusing all of his charka into his arms and legs, he attempted to lift the tree off of her.
He barely lifted it, and it wasn’t enough for her to wiggle out. He tried three more times before giving up. “I can’t lift it,” he said, falling to the ground, arms and legs shaking. “I guess I’m low on chakra too,” he tried to make light of the situation, but it didn’t work.
“Please, hurry Sasuke,” Sakura moaned. Sasuke looked at the tree. He could always burn it, with a fireball jutsu, but that might also burn Sakura. He laughed ruefully. This was one of the few times he wished he still had the curse seal, maybe then he’d be strong enough to lift the tree or at least cut it up. He could always dig a pit beneath her but he doubt he’ll be able to do that in time, Sakura’s chakra was already dangerously low. But do to her amazing control over her chakra, he knew she’d make every bit last until she completely exhausted her chakra. He wished that there was a way to get a message to Konoha.
“Sasuke,” Sakura whispered.
“I’m here,” he stroked her forehead.
“I can’t hold it much longer,” she moaned.
“Shh,” he whispered. “Here,” he formed a glowing ball of chakra in his hands. “Take it, it’s the last of what I have,” he muttered, giving his wife the last bit of chakra. He only kept enough to activate the Sharingan a total of three times. She closed her eyes accepting the chakra.
“It won’t last much longer,” she whispered weakly. Sasuke nodded, looking at the tree. Then suddenly an idea struck, he pushed to good size rocks next to the tree on either side of Sakura. Using the small amount of chakra he had left in him, he once again tried to live the tree. Swiftly, he was able to push the rock underneath it. He repeated it on Sakura’s other side.
The tree was off of her chest a bit, just enough where he could see the faint glow of the chakra cushion, she had created to protect herself. Yet, the gap was too small for hr to wiggle out and there was a low creaking groan of the tree, and he knew that the soft wet earth wouldn’t support the rocks very long.
“That’s the best I can do,” Sasuke whispered, sitting down next to her. “I wish there was something more,” he looked at her.
“Sasuke,” Sakura whispered.
“Sakura, just hold on,” Sasuke said.
“How…how…how much chakra do you have left?” she whispered.
“Not much, only enough to activate my Sharingan and sustain it for an hour, maybe an hour and a half,” he whispered.
“Save…your chakra,” she whispered.
“And you save your strength,” he whispered, placing her head in his lap. “Just save your strength.” Sasuke looked up, before screaming: “SOMEBODY HELP!”
They had easily found the camp of the lord, and like Tsunade told him, the lord was surrounded by at least twenty grass-nin and three rain-nin. Sakura was next to him. “We could send in a kunai bomb? That’ll take everyone out,” she whispered.
“No,” Sasuke shook his head. “Its too risky,” he looked at his wife. “We have to go in and personally execute him.”
“That’s even more risky than my idea!”
“But its effective and we’ll know if the lord was killed,” Sasuke said, drawing a thin needle, its tip was sheathed. “It’s poisoned,” he whispered as he stood up. “Stay here, I’ll be right back,” he said closing his eyes, when he opened them his eyes were red, the mature Sharingan bright in the darkness.
Sakura watched as Sasuke jumped down and landed lightly. It was easy for her to pick him out as he stealthily. She watched him enter the tent. Suddenly, “INTRUDER!” rang up and Sasuke had to cut himself out of the side of the tent. Sakura stood up, her hands clenched in fists, chakra swirling around them. She jumped and aimed one fist to the ground. She slammed her fist into the ground, the force of her fall and the chakra cause a tremor to ripple out, sending the ninja flying.
Sasuke used the tremor to launch himself in the air. At the apex of his leap, he sent out a wave of kunai and shuriken, injuring and killing his enemies. He landed and easily spirited to Sakura’s side. “Mission accomplished,” he whispered to her.
“Great, now how do we get out of this?” she asked.
“Stand back,” he whispered making a few hand seals. “Fire style: Fireball jutsu!” he shouted, before breathing flames at his opponents.
They screamed as they caught fire, some running around, others trying to smother the flames. A man came up behind them. Sakura turned and kicked the man in the gut, sending him flying.
“Nice,” Sasuke whispered, as he easily ducked and dodged his opponent’s taijutsu. He punched the man in the jaw before kicking him the gut. He leapt backwards and landed on a tree. “Sakura! Stand aside!” he ordered, Sakura nodded, easily handily her own opponents. Sasuke closed his eyes, molding his chakra into what he wanted, suddenly, the chakra in his hand erupted into chirps. He smirked, an evil glint in his eyes. He took aim on one person. “Chidori: Thousand birds!” he shouted, before running down the tree trunk, gaining speed as he did so. Soon, he was moving so fast that nobody could have stopped him, but he saw everything, his Sharingan making sure he wasn’t caught off guard. He pulled his hand back and slammed it into the man’s heart, killing him. He let his moment carry him over his opponent and he landed in the earth.
While he was killing the man with his chidori, a clever ninja had planted a kunai bomb in the heart of the fray. “Sasuke!” Sakura shouted when she noticed it. Sasuke looked up and his eyes grew wide.
“Oh no,” he whispered, and ran towards Sakura, trying to protect her from the blast, he was half way to his wife when the bomb exploded, sending him, Sakura and the remaining enemy ninja flying. He had ringing in his ears and then he felt his head hit a tree with a sharp crack, before his world entered blackness.

Hinata stopped, which only caused Naruto to slam right into her. They fell but luckily, her feet were fused to the tree, thanks to her chakra. Naruto unfortunately was holding onto her ankles, so he was staring her right in the face. “Why did you stop?” Naruto asked.
“I heard something,” Hinata whispered, trying to keep the blush from covering her face. He still hadn’t asked her to marry him yet, and she knew that even if they were married she wouldn’t stop blushing.
“Oh,” he let go and swung his body to the left, easily catching himself on the tree. He ran up to the branch she was under and helped her up. “Can you see who it is with your Byakugan?” he asked.
She nodded, and summoned her Byakugan. Naruto stared at her, for a few minutes before he gently stroked one of the bulging eye veins. “Naruto,” she whispered.
“Right, sorry,” he muttered. “So? Do you see anything?”
“Yes! I think I see Sasuke!” Hinata said.
“Sasuke? What’s Sasuke doing out here?”
“Maybe he’s on a mission?” Hinata said, canceling her Byakugan.
“Okay, let’s go!” he shouted, leaping to the tree branch. Please be okay, Sasuke, Naruto thought.

Sasuke looked uneasily at the slowly sinking rocks. Sakura had passed out, her chakra gone. Now, all that was keeping the tree from crushing her was the two rocks, and he knew that it wasn’t enough. Suddenly, he heard two thumps. Sasuke looked up and felt relief flooding him. “Hinata! Naruto!”
“Sasuke, are you alright?” Naruto asked.
“I’m okay,” Sasuke nodded. “But Sakura isn’t, she’d passed out a few minutes ago, do to the depletion of her chakra, we need to get her out from under that tree,” Sasuke said. “But I can’t lift it,” Sasuke sighed. Naruto realized what Sasuke was not asking, he was asking Naruto to use the Kyuubi to help him, to save Sakura.
“Kyuubi?” he whispered softly.
No, came the voice of the fox. I’m not going to help that Uchiha. He’s eyes are just like the other one’s.
“But Sakura is my friend, she’s in trouble, I need your help!”
Fine, but only to free her. The Kyuubi agreed, knowing how much friendship was to Naruto.
“Stand aside,” Naruto said walking to the tree. Red chakra suddenly swirled around him. He squatted and gripped the tree, easily lifting it up, swiftly Hinata and Sasuke pulled Sakura out. Naruto let the tree fall down and easily bound the Kyuubi back into its cage. Sasuke already had Sakura in his arms.
“We need to get to Konoha! Now!” Sasuke said, and was off before Naruto or Hinata could look at him again.

“Hold on Sakura,” Sasuke whispered, holding his wife close as he sailed through the trees. “Please, Sakura, hold on, just hold on,” he whispered, he could feel tears pricking his eyes, the fear of losing Sakura, like he lost his brother, his clan, was just too much for him, and he feared if he did lose Sakura and their unborn child, that he would truly break, and not even Naruto would be able to pull him out from the abyss. “Please, Sakura hold on,” he whispered.

There was a loud annoying banging and shouting that woke Tsunade. “Damn it!” she grumbled as she walked to the door. “What is it?” she snapped when she reached the door and yanked it open. Standing before her in the rain was Sasuke, with Sakura in his arms.
“Please, help her! Please! I can’t lose her, help her please, Tsunade-sama!” Sasuke begged. Tsunade nodded, taking Sakura from Sasuke. Sasuke watched as the Hokage took his wife.

Sakura woke up a few weeks later, to find herself in the hospital; Sasuke was sitting in the chair, his head resting on the bed. He was fast asleep. Sakura smiled, before gently shaking him. Slowly, he woke up. “Sakura!” he smiled, hugging her gently. “I’m so glad you are okay, I thought I lost you,” he whispered, drinking in her familiar scent.
“I’m glad to see you too,” she whispered.
“Well, it seems that everyone is happy!” Tsunade said. “There is good new and better news,” the Hokage smiled.
“What’s the good news?” Sasuke asked.
“Good news is that Sakura will be able to return home in a few days, her chakra trick saved her life,” Tsunade smiled. “And the better news is, that you are expecting twins!”
“Twins?” Sakura blinked.
“Twins?” Sasuke fainted. The women laughed.

Pardon the crappy-ness of the formating. This is origianlly on DeivantArt. I felt it was time to post it here. So, enjoy.

This is personally one of my best SasuSaku oneshots I've written. Though Naruto is SO OOC that it isn't even funny. I've improved greatly in writing Naruto since then. Yay! And I always wanted to post something on my birthday! Yay!

R'n'R or I'll kick you.
