Hello (c) Evanescence
Sasuke panted, as he scanned for a quick movement that he knows his mature Sharingan would pick up. “Where are you Itachi?” he growled softly, allowing his Sharingan eyes to scan the stacks of wooden boxes. He saw a movement to his left, and he reacted by sending one of his kunai flying.
“Sasuke!” Sakura’s voice said to the right. It sounded terrified. Sasuke turned and his eyes widened. In his brother’s arms was his girlfriend. Itachi gave a cruel smirk.
“Do as I say, little brother and I won’t hurt the cherry blossom,” Itachi whispered.
“Let her go!” Sasuke shouted, taking a step towards his brother. Itachi pressed the kunai he held closer to Sakura’s throat.
“Sasuke,” Sakura whispered softly.
“Let her go, Itachi!” Sasuke growled.
“And your gonna make me?” Itachi chuckled darkly. “How sweet. My revenge-driven little brother has feelings for this wench,” Itachi looked at Sakura. “You should be touched little cherry blossom. My brother cares for something other than his selfish goals.” Sakura looked up at Itachi.
“Please, let me go,” she whispered.
“No,” Itachi said and pressed the kunai against her throat until blood dribbled down the blade. Itachi removed it and lazily turned the bloody kunai with sick fascination. “Oh, look Sasuke, there is blood on this kunai,” Itachi said mildly amused. “Her blood…and you forced me to do it,” Itachi smirked as Sasuke dropped his shuriken and kunai and fell to his knees.
“No!” he screamed, gripping the ground. “No! I didn’t…no!” he screamed and for the first time since his parents died, he felt tears rolling down his cheeks. “No! It’s not my fault! Its not my fault!” Sasuke muttered, getting slowly to his feet. His left hand twitched. He summoned the needed chakra and a ball of lightning appeared in his hands. “ITS NOT MY FAULT!” he screamed and ran at his brother.
Itachi sidestepped, allowing his brother to run straight into the barrels of explosives. Itachi let go of Sakura before he vanished.
Naruto, Kakashi, and Hinata ran towards the building, just as it blew apart. “No!” Naruto screamed. “NO! SASUKE! SAKURA!”
Hinata looked at Naruto, and flung her arms around him. Both cried, and Kakashi could only stare numbly at the burning building.
Playground school bell rings again
rain clouds come to play again
has no one told you she's not breathing?
Hello I’m your mind giving you someone to talk to
hello
Sakura remembered very little about what happened after Itachi let her go. She remembers screaming as the building went up in flames, and grabbing Sasuke. He was badly burned, and she remembered him, looking up at her with black eyes and telling her softly that it wasn’t his fault. She wrapped her arms around him, and sobbed into his neck, she may have muttered, ‘I love you,’ and he may have said it too, but she couldn’t remember.
She opened her eyes to see the face of Tsunade. “Tsunade-sama!” Sakura whispered.
“How are you feeling Sakura?” Tsunade asked.
“Everything hurts,” Sakura said.
“I understand,” Tsunade said, before checking the monitors. She smiled at Sakura before walking over to Sasuke’s bed. A tiny nightstand separated the two beds.
“Tsunade-sama?” Sakura asked. Tsunade looked up at Sakura.
“Yes?”
“Is…Is Sasuke going to be alright?” Sakura asked. Tsunade bit her lip.
“I don’t know,” she whispered.
“Can I ask a request?” Sakura breathed.
“Sure,” Tsunade smiled.
“Can you move our beds…closer to each other. I think if I hold his hand he’ll pull through…and I can’t quite reach his hand,” Sakura said. Tsunade nodded, and easily fixed the problem. Sakura sighed when she wrapped her fingers around Sasuke’s hand. Tsunade smiled and left.
Sakura stared at Sasuke. He looked so peaceful, as if he was sleeping. She stroked the back of his hand with her thumb, smiling softly. “It’s going to be okay Sasuke-kun,” she said softly. “You’ll gonna pull through, you have to kill Itachi, remember?” she whispered. Sasuke let out a sigh.
If I smile and don't believe
soon I know I’ll wake from this dream
don't try to fix me I’m not broken
hello I’m the lie living for you so you can hide
don't cry
Tsunade walked in with Kakashi. She looked over at the sleeping Sakura, her hand still grasping Sasuke’s. Apathetically, Tsunade walked over to the machine and turned it off. Tears stinging her eyes as she saw the flat line on the screen. “He’s dead,” Tsunade whispered to Kakashi. The masked man gave a ragged sigh and made a step towards Sakura. “Don’t wake her,” Tsunade said, before looking out the window. “I’m surprise the noise didn’t wake her.”
“Sakura could sleep through anything,” Kakashi said. “She’ll never be the same once she knows he’s dead.”
“You’re right, and we all know that she’s gonna want Itachi’s head for this,” Tsunade looked at the sleeping pink haired girl.
“Sasuke…” Sakura whispered in her sleep and tighten her grip on his hand. Kakashi wiped a tear from his eye.
“I’ll go tell Naruto and Hinata,” Kakashi said. Tsunade nodded, before giving one last look at the two before leaving.
Suddenly I know I’m not sleeping
hello I’m still here
all that's left of yesterday
Sakura woke up the next day, and smiled when she saw that Sasuke’s hand was still in her grip. “Sasuke,” she whispered softly, tugging on his hand lightly. “Sasuke, wake up, its morning,” she whispered. He still didn’t wake up. “Sasuke,” Sakura breathed. “Sasuke, answer me,” she said, getting out of bed and walking towards him. “Sasuke,” she cupped his cheek, it was icy cold, but his hand, was still warm, due to her own warm hand holding it all night. Sakura felt tears well up in her green eyes. “No…” she shook her head. “No!”
Kakashi came in, hoping to wake Sakura and gentle to her that Sasuke died during the night, but to his horror, he saw crying on the chest of the dead Uchiha. “Sakura,” Kakashi said, and ran the short distance to the sobbing girl.
“No! No! No! I’m gonna kill Itachi! I’m gonna kill him! He took Sasuke from me! I loved him! And Itachi killed him! I loved Sasuke and his brother killed him!” Sakura sobbed. Kakashi pulled her into his chest and allowed her to scream and pound her fists against him until she crumbled to the floor crying. She nuzzled her teacher, sniffing softly. “I’m going to kill Itachi for this. I swear on Sasuke’s grave, that I’ll bring the served head of Itachi back to Konoha. If it’s the last thing I do!” Sakura swore, and the coldness in her voice gave Kakashi chilling shivers down his spine. He knew in that moment she had closed off her heart to love. She would never be the happy girl that he once knew, but a cold embittered woman out for revenge.
Personally, this is my favorite song-fic I've ever written. Of course my computer has been turning into a fucking asshole and urgh! Originally posted on DA. There is a squeal. Written at a time when I hated Itachi.
Itachi: I'm so unloved.
But I love you now Itachi-kun! I was just blinded by Sasu-chan's stupidity! I see that you are the better brother! You deserve a happy ending more so than Sasu-chan.
Sasuke: Some fangirl you are.
Oh, I love you too, but you as such an ass in the manga at this point. And your brother was such a nice, good, kind person! And you had to go kill him!
R'n'R or I'll hurt you...badly.
