Title: Diary of Jane/ Diary of [Lizzie]

Summary: It might be a one-sided love, but Edwin won't ever lose hope that one day Lizzie might return his feelings.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Life With Derek. Nor do I own Diary of a Jane, by which this story was inspired.

Author's Note: This drabble is written for Somer's fanfiction contest on Dasey Nation. My chosen couple was Lizwin and the song was Diary of Jane. Enjoy!

Diary of Lizzie

She didn't love him.

While it had been evident all along, he'd chosen to ignore it. Chosen to believe that she expressed her love towards him through their physical relationship, instead of speaking any words.

But, Lizzie's heart had never been in the relationship.

Her lust? Yes.

But not her heart. Not the part of her that Edwin wanted the most.

Their "experimenting" had been her idea originally. She'd been the one to suggest that they "experiment", claiming that it would be less awkward with each other than other people. And Edwin, being a hormonal teenager as well, had eagerly agreed. But, he didn't know when things had started to change for him; when she'd come to mean more to him than she should; when she'd started to consume all his thoughts.

Now, she was telling him that it was over. It was all over. The "experimenting"; their friendship. Everything.

She wanted Derek.

It broke his heart to learn that. To learn just how little he meant to the girl he was in love with. To learn how replaceable he was to her.

He told himself that he should have known. He should have seen Lizzie pulling back, becoming more distant. He should have seen it when she started telling him that it was over between them, even if she did fall victim to her own lust seconds later.

Still, he never thought that she'd actually end it. Never believed that she go as far as to break his heart.

But Edwin didn't plan to give up. He wasn't giving up without a fight; wasn't going to lose this battle like he'd lost others.

He wasn't going to allow Derek to break Lizzie's heart.

No matter what it took, he wasn't going to give up. Lizzie had hurt him. She's ripped out his heart and taken a chainsaw to it, shredding it to pieces. But being without Lizzie would be infinitely more painful.

In the end, Lizzie would see him. See him for what he was and all he could, and should, mean to her. In the end, Lizzie would love him back.

No. This time, Derek wasn't taking anything from him. Certainly not what meant most to him.

This time, Edwin was going to win. Edwin was going to win Lizzie's heart.

A/N: So, how was that? Okay? Despite all my complaining about continually screwing up my writing, I managed to write this in roughly 15 minutes. Ironic, no? Especially since I spent hours earlier in the week trying to write this out with no luck.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it. I focused my writing on what I thought the lyrics meant for this song. Anyway, if you can, please review. I want feedback on this.
